  • newegg PSU Expansion Rack PSU expansion rack supports long PSUs, increasing PSU space to 280mm.
  • newegg Liquid Cooling Ready Retention holes are provided at the rear of the case for easy upgrade to water cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Perfect Case

Pros: removal standoffs (good for dual xeon boards), great airflow, attention to detail, tool free everything, thick guage aluminum, accessories, cable management.

Cons: weak fan, especially in the back. power button seems to have a mind of its own sometimes. i wish the power to the motherboard could be hidden like the rest of the cables in the back but its not a huge deal.

Other Thoughts: been building computers for 10 years, always in search of the perfect case. this is it! i never built a computer in so little time... when i was done i kept on double checking thinking i missed something.

i could do without the top section as i have little need for drives anymore (using pci-e drives).

**the side pannels have been reinforced and are different from the pictures. **

5 out of 5 eggsLian-li: Quality + Style

Pros: I love this case. It has no nonsense style, which is the main reason I went with Lian-li. I do not like the "extreme" look of most other cases, namely the CM HAF's and the Antecs. I owned two Antecs before this one, and always had to change cases with each build. I was sick of that and wanted something that would last a long time. I am also not 13 anymore and don't need an "edgy 1337 case" anymore. Lian-Li was suggested by a coworker who lives by them, and now I do too.

It's almost 100% aluminum and almost 100% toolless. I only used a screwdriver to help tighten the screws. It wasn't necessary but I am like that.

Cooling is absolutely excellent. And it's fairly quiet.

Cons: These aren't really cons, more like "annoyances"

I liked the vertical PCI video card holder. It is a vertical peice of metal with little plastic "arms" you can attach that help hold up the video cards. However, when I added a CoolerMaster 212+ heatsink, it was too big to allow the bar to fit. Just be aware of this if you want to use the PCI support that it may not work with the heatsink you want if the heatsink is too tall or too wide.

The power supply fits on the bottom, which I love. I have a Corsair HX750, which is the one with the modular cables (NO MUTANT SQUID PSU'S EVER AGAIN!), and the cables buts up against the lower HDD caddy. It seems like a tight fit but it's fine really.

There are lots of holes for the cables to run behind the case. However, the back case only has like 6 pegs, and is flexible, so if you stuff too many cables or don't do a good enough job of stuffing them down, it will bulge. I was able to make it not bulge so you should too.

Other Thoughts: I would rather buy one 400$ case and have it last me for eternity than a bunch of regular cases that I need to replace every time I rebuild.

4 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Very cool looking, very solidly built. Air flow system works better than I thought it would. Decent cable management.

Cons: Some curious design choices. This is clearly intended to appeal to a different class of PC builder, so why bother with the blue leds on the front fans? At least include the option to turn them off or something.

My reset button appears to be nonfunctional, but thats not a big deal. The power/reset buttons feel kind of cheap to the touch.

Other Thoughts: I've had some functionality problems with the top panel but I won't blame Lian Li for that little issue.

4 out of 5 eggsGlad I bought it.

Pros: I have been buying "Lian Li" products for years and I have to say this case is simply the best quality case I have seen in a long time. The side panels are a little different buy you get used them. The cable management is top notch and you have plenty of plenty of room to work.

Cooling Example: 2600k at 4500 OC, idle temp was topping out at 51C with the side panels off. I was rather surprised to watch the temps drop to 31C after putting the panels back on.

All in all just a really good case that I'm sure I will own for a long time.

Rig Spec: Asus Sabertooth Rev 3 + Intel i7 2600k

Cons: This case is pricy but that's not why I took an egg off.

I took an egg of for one very obvious defect in my mind. You have to be ultra careful when pushing the prongs into the case.

The plastic they used for the brackets is very brittle and I already broke one. They also didn't bother to give you a spare.

Luckily... I have a friend with a plastic extruder... so all I had to do was create a vector image of the piece so he could make me some.

I doubt many people will have the same options but at least you get the idea now.

Other Thoughts: I'm really not sure why price of this case is on par with the full tower. The full tower has more features but its massive...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Beyond a doubt the best case I have ever bought or used and its gorgeous. I was a little nervous about buyers remorse given its high cost - but when it arrived I found it actually exceeded my expectations. That said, I can't say I NEEDED this case, but since I could afford it - I LOVE this case.

Cons: Expense.

Other Thoughts: This is my second Lian Li. No regrets on either one.

3 out of 5 eggsSerious QC flaw

Pros: Excellent overall and behind mobo cable management.
Good long fron panel wires.
Good construction.
Plenty of interior room.
Smart design and fan location.
Basically has many of the good things of PC-X2000F but in a smaller size.

Cons: While there are LOTs of pros. There is a (IMO) serious QC flaw. The side panels are held in using "peg" like things. While is not bad, its not a good thing either. Seems like Lian Li cheaped out on reinforcing the side panels. If you see the panels on a PC-X1000, PC-X900 and PC-X2000F or on any other larger ATX towers, they are reinforced with both vertical and horizontal bars to prevent bending and bulging. Compare the panels, you will see what I mean. The PC-X500FX does not use bars, only pegs that latches on to the case frame. However, the front of the side panel on the window side lacks a peg, and because there is less aluminum on this side, the panel has a tendency to bend and bulge outward with the window. At first I thought it was a defect and had Newegg replace it, but now I realize its a manufacturing flaw. I warn all potential buyers right now, I'm guessing most 500FXs are like this, and is NOT an anomaly. Lian Li needs to correct this and stop cutting corners!!!!!

Other Thoughts: With the the pros and cons, again if it were not for the panel design, this tower is excellent and pricey. I would have given this 4 eggs but Lian Li customer support DOES NOT EXIST. THERE IS ZERO WAY OF CONTACTING LIAN LI DIRECTLY. And its ashame because I bought Lian cases in the past and I'm a bug fan of theirs. But my fanboi-sim is waivering... Silverstone is started to look appealing now.

5 out of 5 eggsNot your teenager's case

Pros: This case is simply Awesome. If you want the Mercedes Benz of cases that has a more professional look, rather than the teenager look, this case is definitely for you.

Cons: For this price there shouldn't be any Cons, and I was happy to find that was the case! (no pun intended).

Other Thoughts: The build quality is quite remarkable. These people (Lian Li) take case making seriously.

5 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Looks even better in person - I have never seen a better looking case in the 15 years that I have been building computers. Aluminum thickness is fine, unlike some other Lian Li reviews I read recently. Plenty of space. The front fan filter is top notch. Overall, quality construction.

Cons: Side door is a little hard to remove. It doesn't slide off like older designs - it pulls up and off. You get used to it.

Other Thoughts: If you have the money, you won't regret the purchase.
