4 out of 5 eggstortured soul

Pros: lian-li quality aluminum; classy, understated design; removable mb tray for easy building; built-in fan controller w/ 3 plugs; anti-vibration hd mounts; room for (2) large video cards (i went the apu route, didn't test two card setup)

Cons: awkward form factor - too big for under the tv HTPC, but doesn't really save a lot of room compared to traditional mATX or even ATX cases - looks out of place under the desk, but takes up horizontal room on the desk; no p/s support (must agree w/ earlier review on this - a case of this quality and price should not see the p/s flex the back of case), only 80mm back fan option, no slot for top fan; side facing OD mount is just weird (in my opinion - i don't even want one now)

Other Thoughts: quality case but difficult to say what it's really good for.

looks like it would be a great htpc but it's actually quite large for that purpose. on the other hand, if you truly want to build a gaming monster, there is only one 80mm fan mount in the back for heat removal. there is a lot of room above the cpu but awkwardness of the case makes a lot of it go to waste. the bigger heatsinks could easily be too bulky and hit the p/s or block the ram (the arctic 13 i had did). the best solution would be a 120mm fan mount on the top for a all-in-one liquid cooling solution there (the two front fans don't have clearance from the hd cage to do this). i would even consider getting rid of the OD option to help reduce the case height.

there are no wire management options to speak of but it's likely b/c both side panels come off easily for really simple access - i suppose it's a trade off instead of a real con but even w/ my modular p/s, the final build looks pretty messy (most ppl won't care).

final thoughts: love lian-li quality and style - but there are always one or two quirks that drives you crazy b/c it could be perfect but isn't. 3.5 stars to be more precise.

3 out of 5 eggsHit-and-miss

Pros: * Solid construction. With the exception of the power supply (see below), this is definitely a sturdy case that's worth its eight.
* Good ventilation. Two intake fans are included with the option for an additional 80mm fan at the rear. The interior also has a decent amount of space to it.
* Removable motherboard tray.
* Good aesthetics. The case looks very professional and sleek. The brushed aluminum is very nice.

Cons: * No support for the power supply except for the rear of the case. As a test, I put in a larger, heavier 850W power supply, and the entire chassis started to bend a bit. What's odd is that Lian Li's previous PC-V353 had a large metal plate beneath the power supply, supporting it properly.
* The front right fan initially made a horrible grinding sound. As there's no way to remove it or the plate it's attached to, I had to resort to brute force; surprisingly, hitting the fan hard with a pair of pliers several times was enough to dislodge whatever was coming into contact with the blades (it wasn't the main cable). My main complaint here is that there's no way to remove either of the front fans without taking out some rivets.
* I've tried three different motherboards now, and on none of them are the rear I/O ports flush with the I/O plate; it's around 0.7mm off. This leads me to believe there was a mistake in the manufacturing of this case.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case!!!

Pros: Perfect case for my new NAS build. I always wanted to try a Lian Li case and I'm glad I finally did.

- Removable motherboard tray.
- Fans are quiet and can be throttled to 1 of 3 speed settings with the throw of a switch
- Brilliant sound dampening spacers for all disk drives (perfect for NAS, imo)
- LEDs don't seem too bright
- Nice soft padded feet on bottom of case
- Easy access to hard disks, with ample air flow across drives

Cons: Minor things not worth docking an egg:

- Side panels have this snap-in design which is helpful for easy access but requires you to really manhandle the case to secure/remove them, which means you'll get fingerprints everywhere.

Other Thoughts: I didn't use the DVD drive bays so I can't comment on them.

I don't think I'm ever going use another case that doesn't have a removable motherboard tray.

I tried hooking up my CPU fan to the front switch throttle, since you can have up to 3 fan connections on it. It did in fact quiet down the CPU fan but I could get it quieter using the throttle that came with the CPU fan. Nice to know it is at least possible if you have only a 3-pin fan connection or an older board that doesn't throttle fan speeds well.

4 out of 5 eggsLian Li PC-V355 micro ATX case

Pros: removeable tray mounted motherboard

Cons: The feature dimensions (in mm) of max. lenght that can be accomodated for Video card and PSU are not the same in the "Details" section and "Feature Description" of this product.

Other Thoughts: verify and change these dimensions to correct values either in mm or inches
