5 out of 5 eggsFantastically versatile

Pros: This case is a perfect example of a high quality "shell" with the ability to option out for several unique case builds. You can optimize for component capacity, space for internal water cooling, open airflow, etc. Lian-Li has a *huge* range of options for this case, allowing you to build to suit rather than having to pay for a more expensive line. The more expensive cases have great features but far less options so you may end up paying for things that you don't like or don't need and can't remove.

Cons: Newegg does not carry the full line (or even close) of Lian-Li parts. There are only two online vendors based in the US who carry the full range and parts are frequently in high demand. Visit the Lian-Li site and check out the "Chassis - Accessories" and links to vendors. Understand this "Con" is a Newegg issue, not a product issue.

Other Thoughts: TLDR - Great "base model" case with rich options for different builds. Go to the Lian-Li site and check out all the parts you can add.

5 out of 5 eggsBest mid-tower I've used

Pros: -very light, but the structure is certainly not flimsy.

-plenty of room between the motherboard & top of the case where the 2x120mm fan slots are to fit slim fans without having to externally mount them to the top (which can look gaudy & out of place)

I used these for the top slots (& they work great)

- i have all 6 fan slots in use (3x120mm & 3x140mm) & all of these are more than accessible if ever needed to replace one.

-I dont hear any rattles or squeaks while the system runs which is great

-plenty of room behind the mobo to hide cabling without messing with the panel (which should be expected, but not always a certainty on lesser quality cases)

Cons: -no extra standoffs included & factory the ones that are used weren't typical size (like the standard aftermarket brass ones) so you may need extra tools if you accidentally strip one. luckily i didn't have that issue, but its something to account for down the road

-for the most part everything is tool-less except for removing the drive cage which i thought was kind of strange

neither of these things are worth docking an egg for since they aren't actual problems at the moment.

Other Thoughts: this case is perfect for me...gave me more than enough amount of space without needing the size of a full tower.

weight was also a factor (I wanted something as light as possible).

I took a gamble with the slim fans to try & mount inside the case for the top slots & it paid off... totally happy about how flush it looks now

I normally cheap out & budget between $40-60ish for cases but for the most part always settle on minor issues because of it... however this time I decided to spend a little extra & was not disappointed. Lian Li has a future customer now

4 out of 5 eggsDecent case

Pros: Lightweight
Top is removable which makes installing large CPU heatsink possible.
Space for running wires behind motherboard

Cons: Mount for only 1 2.5" drive
Wires from top power/USB/audio connectors invade the top 5.25" bay
Limited airflow for all but the top GPU in SLI/CF
Case flexes a bit if not supported correctly while carrying without side panel attached

Other Thoughts: In retrospect, I probably should have gotten a full tower and extended motherboard for what I ultimately tried to put together. However this case is nice for any sane system build.

Using only the 4 screws provided, I managed to mount 2 2.5" SSDs by putting 2 in each SSD diagonally. Then I slid the drives into place; one on top, the other upside down. It's a little sketchy but seems to work fine. I would not do that for rotating media.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case, but top bay is unusable

Pros: This case has a much better hard drive mounting system than the PC-9NB. Also, unlike the PC-9NB, it has a place to mount an SSD.

The two top USB 3.0 ports are spaced far enough apart to use them both at the same time, unlike some earlier models. It does have the USB 3.0 header connector.

Cons: Lian-Li failed to leave sufficient clearance at the top to allow the use of the top 5.25" drive bay. Any attempt to put an optical drive in the top bay results in the drive hitting the soldered wires connecting to the power, reset, USB3, and headphone jacks. A card reader would probably work but it's a definite design flaw. The PC-7HX, PC-7HWX, and the PC-9NB have the same problem. I hope Lian-Li avoids this mistake in future models. Still, this is my favorite case at the moment.

Other Thoughts: This case is the same as the PC-7HX, only the interior is polished instead of anodized black.

This case requires the use of special rubber anti-vibration grommets and screws that come with the case. SSDs have no moving parts, so anti-vibration grommets are pointless, but not a con since they do no harm either.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case for price if your'e into Aluminum

Pros: Full aluminum - surprisingly light, yet solid. If UPS drops it off on your porch on a windy day, it could blow over.

Front plate designed to be removed and re-attached many times over the life of the case, and without tools. If you break the hardware doing it, you can replace it on the cheap. This is important because you have to remove the front to clean the fan filters

Innovative PSU air intake.

Anti-vibration on the PSU and hard drive cages.

By design or not, the bottom 5.25" bay has two holes in the bottom that line up with the back two screw holes on a hard drive. If you only have one disk, consider installing it here and removing the HDD rack for better air flow.

Rear 120mm fan hole combines with the two water cooling tube holes. The advantage here is that you can take those all-in-one water coolers and actually mount the radiator externally since the water tubes and just slide into the slot. I have an Antek Kuhler 620, and the radiator lines up perfectly for external mounting. The plastic grommets can be snapped into place after the tube is in the hole

Top fan holes are covered with aluminum plates that blend pretty well with the rest of the finish.

Front (top?) audio cable is plenty long enough to reach the farthest corner of the motherboard with plenty to spare.

Cons: Top mounted power button and USB/audio connection cables are practically inside the top 5.25" bay. You might be able to get a drive in there, but not without a whole lot of stress on those connectors. I put my fan controller in the top slot just to be safe.

PSU fan filter requires you to lift the case to remove it

Omission of many of the finishing touches that are typical of Lian-Li cases, such as rubber mounts for the rear fan. They used a hard plastic grommet for the water cooling holes. They are relatively sharp too, so don't move the tube the wrong direction once it's inserted.

HDD cage is removable, but there is a support arm that is rivited to the motherboard tray. It looks silly without the hard drive cage. 60 seconds with a drill took care of that.

If you are mounting a 240mm radiator, the fans will probably need to be mounted externally. This is by design. You'll see a round ugly plastic plug in the top of the case where the fan cables go. You then need to buy the cover piece that goes over it.

Only came with the 9 pre-installed motherboard stand-offs. No extra in the bag.

Tool-less 5.25" bay although functional only secures the one side and it doesn't put any pressure on the optical drive. This results in a lot of vibration noise when in use. I can move the drive by pushing on the front of it.

Top usb/audio connector door squeaks when opening/closing. I'm sure some silicone lube will fix it.

Other Thoughts: Don't like the case because there is no window on the side to show off the shiny aluminum? Lan-Li Part # W-LM2AB-1 fits this case. Sold out on Newegg, but I found it for $20 on another site.

If you're a fan of aluminum cases, you can't do much better for an 8 slot ATX case at this price point. Overall I'm very pleased with the build in this case, however I can't give it 5 eggs due to the multiple nit picky issues mentioned above.

The area behind the motherboard is large enough for the 24 pin motherboard power cable, but just barely. Don't expect to be able to cross any cables back there. I really would have liked to see some rubber

Some info:
Top fans are 120mm
Side fan is 140mm
All fans are 3 pin with a 4 pin molex adapter
The 140mm fan grill on the side is removable.

Available accessories (Lian-Li Part numbers):
BP3SATA - 3 port SATA backplane
7H-1 - previously mentioned top fan housing
W-LM2AB-1 - Left side replacement panel with pre-installed window
PT-CL01 - Cable routing clamps that snap into the multiple holes in the case
