The Cooler Master Cosmos S is the latest PC chassis in the new Cosmos series of cases. Like its predecessor, it's designed for both function and style. The sleek design includes sturdy metal carrying handles at the top and bottom. There's a red-lit touch-sensitive power button at the top front for easy access. Behind it, a sliding access panel reveals four USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE 1394 port, microphone and audio output jacks and an eSATA port.
A simple release lever on the back allows both side panels to pop open for easy access. These side panels have a mesh design for superior ventilation. In addition, a huge 20cm fan built into the left panel draws in cooling air while 12cm fans located at the top and rear draw air into and out of the case. Up to three fans can be mounted inside the upper front of the case for additional air intake and a total of three more 12cm fans can be mounted at the top for exhaust.
Retaining holes in the rear of the case are ready to accept hoses for a liquid cooling kit and there is room for a 12cm radiator in the base and back of the case and a 3x12cm in the roof. Keep your system ice-cold without having to cut up the case! The case will support ATX and Extended ATX boards along with seven expansion cards. Seven front-accessible 5.25" drive bays and four hidden 3.5" drive bays give you plenty of configuration options.

Excellent design, Air or Water.
- Pros: Case has very good setup, I'd be hard pressed to choose a case that would have such sleek sportscar looks and be well suited for Watercooling. Impressive fan capability. Includes fan filters. Tool free set-up. Cooler Master has included a massive 200mm fan for VGA card cooling (ideal for SLI setups,) a fan on the HD Cage to keep your precious hard drives cool and two exhaust fans.
The on/off button is a very stylish and I'm glad to see the top i/o's hidden to prevent dust collection. The internal section offers a nice cable management system, no drilling required.
- Cons: First, this is NOT truly a con, but the Cosmos does not cycle air adequately with stock fans. This is due to the massive amount of stock air intake versus the minimal stock air exhaust.
If your buying a high end case, your either going to invest in your preference of high end fans or water cooling setup. Including high end fans that complete the system, would just pass on the cost to the consumer, especially since the upper 3x120mm area along the top of the case has mounting with water cooling in mind.
Bear in mind that if your like me and immediately remove every case fan that comes stock, you'll be rather unhappy if you know that cost has been passed on. I'll only be keeping the massive 200mm side mounted fan.
Second, would be the lack of a removable motherboard tray. After the Stacker 830s I'd like to see this in Cooler Masters high end rigs. Its a handy feature, but not essential.
Third, no ESA support. Would have liked to see this, but again, not essential
- Other Thoughts: Response to Tom 3/17/08: The Antec 900 does not have thumbscrews, save for the side panels and drive bays. The antec 900 drive bay thumbscrews don't even mount drives into it, you have to use screws to mount your drives. The Cosmos S has a lever system which is quicker than the 900 and the push button drive mounts are far easier than the 900 as well. As far as an 8800gt being cramped in a Cosmos S, versus the 900, the distance between my 8800GTS and the drive bays in the 900 is at best 1 1/2". I can set a 120mm fan on its side and it could not touch the 8800gt or the drive bays on the Cosmos S.
The Antec 900 includes no fan filters and has no cable management.
Cosmos is an excellent case, with the potential to be either a phenomenal air or water-cooled unit. The 900 offers excellent air cooling potential, however water cooling would be nightmarish to attempt due to small size.
The Cosmos S is a far superior product with room for expansion the 900 is not capable of.
Beautiful case and excellent cooling
- Pros: This is a very beautiful case and is very good on cooling. The case is really roomy to install your parts. The HD bays stay cool with the front fan. I like the hidden ports up at the top and the power button has to be the coolest thing. You don't press it you just put your finger over it and your computer starts up. Excellent case for everything and would recommend it to everyone to buy.
- Cons: The only con i could think of with this case is the fact that the HD cage is extremely hard to get out. You have to loosen up the 4 screws that hold it in place and then it was very hard to get out. Talk about a tight fit, but tight is better than loose i guess.
- Other Thoughts: I would recommend this case to anyone that likes the Cosmos 1000, but would like a case that is lighter and has way better cooling. I had the Tagan A+ Monolith and got this case and this case cools just as good if not better than that case at idle but under load this case dropped my temps by about 5 degrees compared to that one. Excellent case!!!

Great!
- Pros: Big, nice design, great air flow and red LED lights. (Looks real pretty a night) Oh and by great air flow, I really mean it.
- Cons: None, would reuse same case for another computer :).
- Other Thoughts: To those buying a Core i7 and a Coolmaster V8 cooler and using it with this case should note that the side fan will not fit (atleast in my case) due to the V8 cooler being so big.
Big case with problems
- Pros: 1) Lot of Room to do installation of Hardware Components
2) Attractive Exterior Design
3) 200mm Side Fan
4) Dust Filters and Covers for front Panel Connections
5) Nice Screwless Design
- Cons: 1) Doesn't have a Removable Tray for MB installation
2) Doesn't Support Big after market CPU cooler (Mine was Monsoon LT III). To support it, the 200mm Fan has to be removed.
3) The cable Management is close to being useless. If you take the cables from the back side, the back panel will not close.
- Other Thoughts: For the price the product should support high end products/features. Now I have to either remove the 200mm Fan and dump the Monsoon LT III cooler. Removing the 200mm fan just leave you with one 120mm intake fan and 2 120mm out fans. The product also supports only one addition 120mm INTAKE FAN. For OUT two more can be attached.
For cable management there isn't much space between the MB tray and the back panel.
Superior
- Pros: The case is simply beautiful, great airflow. I had plenty of room to install two 295s in them. Best case I have purchased yet!
- Cons: If you planning on using the Thermalright FX14 it is not going to fit with the side panel. Not to worry, I just gutted out the 200mm fan that came with the sidepanel and it works fine now. I am still running 26-28c and it is OC to 4.3 atm. So the the fan it not necessary if you are putting that beast in the machine.
Also you might want to purchase 2 more Cooler Master (4n3 bays) so that you can mount 2 more fans in the front. It helps tremendously with airflow, it stinks that it didn't come with them already.
