The Cooler Master Cosmos S is the latest PC chassis in the new Cosmos series of cases. Like its predecessor, it's designed for both function and style. The sleek design includes sturdy metal carrying handles at the top and bottom. There's a red-lit touch-sensitive power button at the top front for easy access. Behind it, a sliding access panel reveals four USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE 1394 port, microphone and audio output jacks and an eSATA port.

A simple release lever on the back allows both side panels to pop open for easy access. These side panels have a mesh design for superior ventilation. In addition, a huge 20cm fan built into the left panel draws in cooling air while 12cm fans located at the top and rear draw air into and out of the case. Up to three fans can be mounted inside the upper front of the case for additional air intake and a total of three more 12cm fans can be mounted at the top for exhaust.

Retaining holes in the rear of the case are ready to accept hoses for a liquid cooling kit and there is room for a 12cm radiator in the base and back of the case and a 3x12cm in the roof. Keep your system ice-cold without having to cut up the case! The case will support ATX and Extended ATX boards along with seven expansion cards. Seven front-accessible 5.25" drive bays and four hidden 3.5" drive bays give you plenty of configuration options.

  • newegg Aluminum Chassis With an aluminum alloy construction, the Cooler Master Cosmos S (RC-1100-KKN1-GP) reaches the balance between chassis stiffness and heat dissipation.

5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: I have had this case for a long time now and it stands up to the test of time. I have over clocked most of my system and this case still remains cool! lives up to the coolmaster name.

Cons: the power button is a bit touchy, sometimes when plugging in USB's i will gently hit it and the computer will shut down.. Plenty of ways around it though and honestly it only happens like once in a blue moon.

Other Thoughts: All and all I am loving the case, Its HUGE and i will build my next computer in it if its still working perfectly!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Huge
Looks good
Can handle any kind of future upgrade
Water cooling ability and good air cooling

Cons: Had to remove the 230 mm side fan to be able to fit the Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler (might want to add few more 120 mm fans to compensate, or just go water cooling)

Other Thoughts: Bought this because a friend has had it for years and still loves it!!!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Case

Pros: -HUGE case with excellent cooling options
-The 230mm side case fan is enormous, but it moves a ton of air over the main peripherals in the case and is pretty shallow so it can hold a lot of the higher end/larger CPU coolers (I have the Zalman 9700)
-The handles make the thing easy to move
-The top board has USB, microphone, headphone etc ports and it has a cover to slide down over them.
-Tons of expansion options with all of the extra bays, fan spots and liquid cooling runs already built in
-Cable management makes it relatively easy to hide all the cables inside the case and out of the way of other items and makes cooling more efficient
-For the amount of fans and other things that I have going on inside this case it is remarkably quiet

Cons: -Its HUGE
-The handles I mentioned earlier are important because this thing is heavy
-Kinda wish the USB, mic, and headphone ports were on the front and not the top as it gets a lot of stuff in there that I have to clean out
-As much as I thought I would like the power button being touch sensitive I don't. Its too easy to accidentally brush with your finger turning everything off. If it was on the front OR away from the USB, mic and headphone ports it might not be a problem. I haven't hit it by accident yet tho, but I am sure I will sometime
-The cable "storage" on the motherboard side of the case is VERY narrow. I have a lot of stuff crammed back there and it took me a while to get the panel to not pop open

Other Thoughts: I have a Zalman 9700 CPU cooler and a XFX 6950 in this case and everything fits with tons of room around it and stays way cooler than my previous case. Its heavy, but the handles help you move the thing if you need to. I have one case fan on the bottom blowing in, one on the front blowing in, one on the back blowing out, one the side blowing in and two on the top blowing out and it keeps everything at below expected temperatures while over-clocking slightly. Overall this case is amazing and after you work through a few kinks you will love it too.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: Lots of space, can handle water cooling components, good airflow, nice front panel

Cons: Heavy, build quality isnt all there.

Other Thoughts: I bought this so I could accommodate my water cooling setup. Box arrived in perfect shape. I took everything out and the side panel fell apart. The nuts that were pressed into the side panel just popped all out. I called Newegg and asked for a replacement panel. I was promised a call-back to see if they had any. No one ever called me back.

so...
-1 egg for build quality
-1 egg for newegg not calling me back.

3 out of 5 eggsAntec Twelve Hundred is Better

Pros: Allot of interior space.

Cons: I have purchased two Cooler Master Comos Towers and one Antec Twelve Hundred Tower. I have owned all three of them for more than a year. The Cooler Master Cosmos is built much cheaper in comparison to Antec. The side panels pop off accidentally. Paint is already rubbing off the front corners. All buttons are flimsy. Overall the quality of this case does not match the Antec 1200.

Other Thoughts: The reason I purchased this case is because it had a much more professional look than the Antec Twelve Hundred and it seemed more appropriate for an office environment. This case is the size of a mini fridge.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Very nice cable management features, and efficient airflow system.

Works well with new, and experienced builders

Cons: you can't fit a 3 1/2 in drive into the front top slot if you have 3 fans on top.

Other Thoughts: needs more room for cables in back.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent case

Pros: Excellent case. Have the original Cosmos and building my brother a workstation and decided to use this case due to future upgrades. I like the fact the top can be removed. No front door like the old Cosmos. HUGE 200+mm Fan on the side (will help cooling Qudro 4000 VC). HUGE CASE. So, for those who like to do liquid cooling, would highly recommend it. Easy USB access on front panel which is very convenient for my lazy self.

Cons: Don't know who's fault it is but case came broken :( ... But thx to Newegg, another one is being shipped off the same day I rcvd the broken one. My old Cosmos came with 2 top fans and I was under the impression the new Cosmos did but I can't complain about that (i should have done more research, oh well). Can't wait to build this beast. Old cosmos had padding on the door but the new one doesnt, this isnt a complaint, just information.

Other Thoughts: I was upset it didnt come with the winning lottery numbers. System Im piecing

i7 2600k
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
OCZSSD2-1VTX 120gb SSD
LG BD burner ($80, you cant beat that)
OCZ 1kw PSU (fully modular & 80 plus gold certified)
win 7 64-bit
G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1333 (16gb)
PNY Quadro 4000 2GB 256-bit (went with this due to the fact that he's an architect)

5 out of 5 eggsBest Case I've Ever Owned

Pros: I've owned this case for over three years and it is still as quite as the day I first turned it on. I love the top mounted Power Button, USB, eSata ports. Tons of room inside, easy to keep everything organized (which my OCD requires). The pushbutton optical drive-bay clips are very nice.

Cons: Heavy...but not a big deal if you dont move it around a lot.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to spend this much money on a case....but I will most likely not need a new case for many years to come. The build quality is exceptional.

1 out of 5 eggsDesign Flaw

Pros: Love the size and look of the case.

Cons: 1st case: Broken. Pressure pins that hold the side panel and the part that actually hooks to the tower on an aluminum case together were not connected (why not a grommet). Fan and plastic part were detatched completley from the side panel and case was warped slightly.

2nd case:
Fan missing 3 of four pins to hold it down and the "brackets" on the inside don't actually attach to anything.
Pressure pins still not holding
Plastic part detached from side panel again.

Other Thoughts: Was so excited to get this case as a birthday present for myself at the beginning of July and I still don't have one that works. Will be returning and not exchanging for another one like it this time.

Why use a pressure hold system for aluminum when it is such a soft metal?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer - We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. If you still have the case, please contact us via the Live Chat link below so we can get the situation rectified. Respectfully - CMUSA Customer Support.
