It's a custom paint Cosmos RC-1000
- Pros: 1. Large very open easy to build in, doesn't need a removable mb tray.
2. Quiet.
3. 5.25" bay retension is very nice.
4. PSU airflow isolation.
5. Excellent well built case, very stylish. General Cosmos design is different but not really strange and it's attractive to most if not all of my customers. My personal case has caused a lot of customers to request the Cosmos case with a few opting for these custom paint units from CM over a true custom. This case has some flaws that almost make it a 3 egg for me but other things raise it back up to a 4. I've built in virtually every case there is (that's worth bothering) and there is no 5 egg (perfect) case as far as I'm concerned. There's always a an issue that should have been thought thru better in development and makes someone like me wonder why they designed it the way they did.
- Cons: 1. There is no perfect case, unfortunately every one I've built on has some glaring flaw.
2. As others have said, the cable management on these could be better. The horiz. side panel retention mech. prohibits being able to run the 4/8 pin 12v mb connector between the mb tray and side panel. The vert, rib just forward of the mb tray causes other pass thru issues. The horiz. side panel retension devices could have been moved up to prevent this issue and if the vert. rib is needed structurally for stiffness then it should have been designed much better with an ability to pass cables through it on the rear most rib as well as the front one and if it's not needed for that stiffness then it shouldn't even exist. I find this a big flaw almost making this a 3 egg
3. Airflow could be improved. Lots of complaints that the drive cage is particularly bad but if you use the fan from the bottom or get another I don't find that to be truth. My hd bays filled and the temps are always under 40C.
- Other Thoughts: To address the last review and the dimensions, the dimensions of this unit listed here on NE are wrong, it's the exact same case dimension wise as the regular Cosmos RC-1000 which I use for my main system which is highly customized. The dimensions NE has listed look more like the dimensions of the box. I've built 3 systems with these custom painted versions of the Cosmos 1000 so I am very familiar with them. Like the other CM cases with custom paint that is what you are paying for on this one and you get no other meaningful features on the case. Someone mentioned that the front door should have a latching mechanism like the side panels... in practice that is unnecessary and would be a pain to use as well as make it more difficult to swap the direction of the door opening. There's no reason the front door should ever need to be retained closed like a side panel and the magnets work perfectly. When you open a front panel you want to be able to just pull it open and not have to unlatch.
