5 out of 5 eggsFANtastic Case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: I have owned this case for about a year and a half. It is incredibly spacious. The fans are also pretty quiet. When the PC is idling, I don't really hear too much fan noise -- a definite plus. The HAF (High Air Flow) part of it is true to its name; I have removed the top 200mm fan (I was going to install an H100i, but ran into issues and didn't replace the fan, so there is no upper ventilation) and there is no change in temps, even with i7-3770k and two GTX 780 Ti's in SLI. In order to clean out the front mesh removable grills, I just took it to a sink full of water and gave it a quick rinse -- incredibly easy!

I must say that the wheels are a definite bonus! I wish I had those on my CM Stryker case. With the case being around 50 pounds, it makes it very simple to just push it and slide it out from the wall and then again towards the wall. With my Stryker case which weighs about the same w/ all of its components, it is very difficult to maneuver.

Cons: My biggest annoyance with this case is the cable for the 200mm window fan. Whenever I open the case to adjust something, I have to fiddle with the cable a little or else it gets in the way of closing the case. Though this is a minor issue. I also would have appreciated a little more room behind the motherboard tray for cable management. When comparing to my Stryker case, there is noticeably more room in my Stryker case, which is nice because I don't feel like I'm compressing the cables at all.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I would purchase this case again and again. Its quietness and spaciousness are phenomenal.

Pros: Plenty of room in this case and several options that other cases dont have. No need to worry about sizes of parts in this bad boy!

Cons: Has many attachments and parts that arent labeled as optional that didnt come with the case. I didnt need them so i dont care but just so you know.

5 out of 5 eggsI love my HAF X case. Home run Cooler Master!

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: Not sure where to start on the Pros.

Let's just say it's roomy and spacious.
Wire management is a breeze.
Lot's a air flow in this thing.
The two front bay SATA Docks are great.
Mounting drives is so easy it's ridiculous.
The front 230mm fan keeps the drives nice and cool, usually 25-30C.
The 200mm GPU side door fan really helps with keeping the graphics card cool.
Plenty of front panel connections for head set, USB 2.0/3.0, FireWire, and eSATA.
Currently running a CM 212 Evo heat sink with two Prolimatech PRO-USV14 140mm Ultra Sleek Vortex Fans in push-pull. This sits pretty high off the board and yet there is still an inch or so clearance to the side panel door.
The PSU cable cover is great for hiding all those unsightly wires protruding from PSU. Even with a modular PSU there are still wires to hide and this does it well.
I've just hit the high spots that come to mind.

I am pretty darn happy with this case and very glad I spent the money.

Cons: I only have two issues with this case.

1st, the USB, FireWire, head phone jacks and eSATA connections on the top of front panel. If you have a cable plugged in and then attempt to open a DVD drive you will need to hold the cables free of drive tray. I need to fashion some sort of wire management for this issue.

2nd, the reset button and front 230mm fan LED button on top of front panel are close together. I reached up to turn LED off one night and pushed the Reset button. DAGNABBIT!!! Maybe a little better button placement here should be considered.

Other Thoughts: If you've never had a full tower before you will be amazed at the size. Make sure you have room for this baby....erm BIG baby.

All in all I love this case! Big fans means quiet fans. Lots of big fans means cool PC and still quiet. I've mounted my spare 200mm in top with the factory 200mm that is already up there. System runs very cool.
i7 960 OC'd to 4.2GHz on air and normal temps are 50-60C during intense CPU game play and 28-30C at idle - on air.

Top inside is set up for liquid cooling. I've ordered an Enermax Liqtech 240 All-in-One cooler for this system. It should be here soon so I'll know more about the compatibility with a 240mm radiator then. I'm expecting temps to drop considerably.

I can't see buying anything else and expect this case to take me into the next decade and beyond with new builds and upgrades.

4 out of 5 eggsGood case over all

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: This is a very large case has tons of room to work. Fits my Asus matrix GTX 980 no problem but I do not have enough room for the VGA fan duct to fit and I bought a extra 120mm fan for that but oh well. This case has a very sturdy solid feel to it and should last me for quite some time. I personally really like the look of the case but that's just my impression. Cable management is a breez, the tool free 5.25 bays are really nice. All in all I am very happy with this case.

Cons: No major cons but I did take one egg of because it was apparent that this case was an open box item and I purchased new. I unpacked the case and there were already two MOBO standoffs installed and come of the cables were already ran and zip tied to the back. Not major enough for me to send the case back or call and complain but I feel like if you purchase new it should be an unopened unhandled case. Also the front fan led button was missing and I was going to RMA the case for that but I could it in the bottom of the box so just snapped it back it and were all good. As far as functionality of the case and issues with important stuff broken or not working there are none.

5 out of 5 eggsCoolermaster HAF X 942 case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: Excellent case. Channels for cable management, and enough slots for my SSDs. Super airflow, which it's on the ground under my desk inside a open cabinet. GOT to clean the filters once in awhile! Run under water and use an old toothbrush or big soft bristle brush. Takes seconds.
Have owned it for over 3 years, and am ordering another for my build in progress. Comes with wheels!

Cons: The red fan LED in front quit working after a month. :( No eggs removed, Would be nice to have color.

Other Thoughts: BIG case. HEAVY case. Make sure you have room and weight support on whatever you sit it on.

5 out of 5 eggsI love this case!

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: This case is amazing! It keeps everything cool as well as having a great design. The case is incredibly well built. I have the i7 4790k and the Cooler Master 212 Evo installed in it, and my temps are great. All the wires fit neatly in the back of the case. It is a lot bigger than my last full tower in terms of width and height and comes with wheels. the airflow in the case is amazing!

Cons: fans in case are 3 prong connectors, my motherboard's case fan ports are all for 4. the 4th pin is useful for automated control, so I had to use the adapter for plugging directly to the power supply.

3 out of 5 eggsMostly an upgrade over ATCS 840, if it all works

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: The metal is machined in a nicer way than older CM cases: fewer crude edges for slicing your fingers open.
Nice features like hotswap bays, when they actually work.
Giant low RPM fans.

Cons: The SATA hotswap PCB was DOA. This is one of the main reasons I went with this case. I filed a parts request and after a month a new PCB showed up: a random single interface SATA PCB that looks like it was ripped from a cheap external HDD enclosure. It can't be used anywhere in my case and by all means looks like what someone would grab off a shelf if told to choose and ship the simplest possible SATA interface to a random customer's random product.

Coolermaster knew what PCB was needed because my HAF X is registered with them. You have to register the item in order to file a parts request. It took so long to ship this completely wrong part that I now fear they don't even have the proper two interface PCB in stock and this essential feature of my case may never work, rendering it a huge disappointment and a poor purchase.

I hope my next part request for the very same hotswap PCB is successful, but given the horrible things most people say about this company's customer service, I'm not optimistic. If things are not rectified, this will be my last CM product after many purchases over the years.
