5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 430 - Mid Tower Computer Case with All-Black Interior and Windowed Side Panel

Pros: 4 years and running!
cool side panel
big
everything fits nice

Cons: have to keep the inside looking nice

Other Thoughts: Have been using this with in first build at college* since March 2011. I moved the blue led fan to the back of the case and put a normal fan up front to make the interior more blue. Works as expected and looks cool.

3 out of 5 eggsA good case for the money

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 430 - Mid Tower Computer Case with All-Black Interior and Windowed Side Panel

Pros: Mostly solid metal construction with some plastic parts. Nice blue LED fan in front. The standoff positions for the motherboard (both ATX and mini ATX) are imprinted on the case and are therefore easy to find. The cables are clearly marked for motherboard connections. When it arrived, the cables were secured with wire ties. Although cable ties are also supplied, I prefer to reuse the wire ties, as they are quicker and easier. Plenty of additional screws are provided for the motherboard, and add on cards. An additional 4 black screws are also provided for the power supply, so they match the color of the case. The 3 5.25" & 5 3.5" bays have quick install/release panels, but only two are provided for each, even though only two quick locks are provided for the 5.25 and two for the 3.25.

Cons: Instructions suck. It is nothing more than diagrams in several languages showing where to place certain items. EG: Power Supply, Motherboard & Add on cards.
No detail at all. Fortunately, most people buying a case have previous experience building a computer and can easily figure things out, but I would not recommend this case for a first time builder. The internal speaker and cable provided was very short and ended up resting on the power supply. The fan cable provided was extremely short and you have to use the provided adapter to connect directly to the PSU, instead of the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Although the PSU is located on the bottom of the case, it negates the lighted fan provided in many PSUs, as was my case. Quick locks should be provided for all available bays, not just 2 of each size. The fan cable should be at least 12" longer so it can reach the motherboard and take advantage of fan control.

3 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Elite 430

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 430 - Mid Tower Computer Case with All-Black Interior and Windowed Side Panel

Pros: Very good airflow and a bottom mounted power supply at a decent price. The components fit in place easily

Cons: You need to be creative when it comes to cable management. All the nuts bolts and screws are in one bag and you need to be careful when choosing the bolts that attach the motherboard. The metal on this case is thin and you need to be careful not to over tighten the motherboard mounting nuts they can strip out.

Other Thoughts: When removing the expansion slot covers you need to be patient and wiggle them gently so you don't bend the case.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 430 - Mid Tower Computer Case with All-Black Interior and Windowed Side Panel

Pros: Used it to hold a multi-gpu setup for computation. Everything stayed nice and cool. No major complaints! Good bargain on sale

Cons: Not digging the LED fans. Swapped them out for quieter ones without lights.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing starting case

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 430 - Mid Tower Computer Case with All-Black Interior and Windowed Side Panel

Pros: Just amazing when it comes to buget and overall compatibility... as a first build this case stood out unlike the rest ... looks amazing and will show off your first build quite well ... simple and sturdy ... this case will not fail to impress for its price ... i was quite proud of a case like this sitting by my desk

Cons: cons? i mean yea the only thing i could think of is cable management and no ssd bay ... the price for this case you cant even complain about this ... as a first time it will definitely teach you the struggle of wiring and zip tieing everything behind the drive bays ... but an ssd bay is an ez fix ... ssd tray and boom there you go

2 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Horrible...

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 430 - Mid Tower Computer Case with All-Black Interior and Windowed Side Panel

Pros: Looks Cool,
Lots of room
Great Price

Cons: EXTREMELY hard to remove the back metal covers to install external cards.
Nowhere to put an SSD it seems unless you have an adapter

Other Thoughts: So, I bought this case from a review online, saying it was a really good investment for the price.

I was ecstatic. My first PC Build ever. Luckily my best friend is a software engineer, so I had him as a reference, and also numerous instructional videos online.

I get off work yesterday, all my parts had arrived. I assemble the motherboard, and all of the components. Everything is absolutely incredible.

I get to the point where I need to install my SSD. Little did I know, the slots that are included in the tower are way too big to house my SSD. They are for optical drives and bigger HDDs I am assuming. 3.5" and 5". Not really worrying too much about that, but it is lying somewhere insecure within the tower, which is kind of unsettling.

Here is the worst part though. I get to the point where I need to install my GPU. You are supposed to be able to just pop out the metal covers with a small tap right? Well, think again.. I tried tapping it, to no avail. I was then forced to use some pliers, which seemed to do well, until it start ripping a part of the metal that was not perforated. This took an immense amount of strength as well, and I am not a weak man. I know somebody either did their job WAY too well, or they are playing a prank, but it was a nasty prank. A job that should have took 1 minute turned into 2 hours trying to wrench this stuff off. Also, I know you are just supposed to punch them out, because the covers on the bottom slots were already coming out while I worked on the top ones(Where it was necessary to put my GPU). Go figure.

All in all, I do NOT recommend this case, unless you have an instrument that can cut through metal precisely. Either that, or I got a bad case. I will never know.

Manufacturer Response:

Good Afternoon Tyler,

I apologize you're having a challenge working with your Elite 430 as this chassis definitely has a lot of value for its price point as you shouldn't have had to do to many things to work for you. We do offer a SSSD bracket that can work with the existing 5.25" drive bays through our CM Store or even similar items on New Egg at the link below.

Please let me know for further questions or concerns through our CM Fanzone.

Regards,
Felinni M.
