5 out of 5 eggsNow i Can Sleep

Pros: This bad boy lights my room up at night with it's beautiful blue LED fans. My girlfriend had trouble sleeping because it was too dark. I thought about getting one of those night lights you plug into your wall but I'm a grown man and was to embarrassed to go buy a 10 dollar light. I heard cooler master makes great cases for computers. I don't have a computer. I used my schools for everything. When the item finally showed up in my home, i was full of excitement as i was opening it up. Goose bumps went up and down my arms and legs. But, sadly i found out you couldn't just plug the case to the wall. So i called twin brother and told him about the issue. He said, "You need a power supply, motherboard, cpu, ram, etc....". So, i was planning to use the computer again at my school to order the stuff i need but the school will not let me use the computers anymore because of virus i have down loading from trying to get free...... purchasing songs online. So ended up using my smart phone to order the rest of the stuff. A few days past and 1,800$ later, all the parts arrived. I built of first computer and now i can browse the web at home. My girlfriend is very happy at night. The LEDs light up the room majestically and it keeps me up at night. But, as long as she is happy. As a few weeks go by my girlfriend was getting more and more upset. Having built my first computer, i have grown quite fond of it. I find myself on it for hours and hours. I stayed up for 40 hours one time playing Don't Starve. That game is awesome. My girlfriend said that i was ignoring her all the time, or something like that, i wasn't paying attention. This computer is awesome. I recommend this for everybody that is looking for a computer case.

Cons: Turns out you need a power supply, motherboard, CPU, Memory, video card if you want to game well, hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST CASE SO FAR

Pros: Delivery was quick, this was my first time building from the inside so I initially felt overwhelmed but WOW this case gives PLENTY of room GREAT AIR FLOW and the instructions were clear.

Cons: The instructions were only pictures, some words would be cool but none the less clear on how to install/remove components.

Other Thoughts: This will last me at least 6 years so i 10/10 recommend it.

4 out of 5 eggsJust shy of excellence

Pros: The single most important feature I look for in a new chassis is that it has room to work, and this case delivers. There are a few tight spots, particularly around the drive cages, but this is by no means problematic for eve my fat fingers. Airflow is excellent, as you'd expect from a HAF series case, and there are plenty of options for fans and rads.

The tool-less 5.25 system gets top marks in two ways: it works better than any I've seen, and can easily be removed leaving a normally functioning bay. Functionality AND flexibility... awesome.

Cons: My single largest complaint is the CPU cutout, as others have already mentioned. Two cooler holes were completely inaccessible on the ASUS Z97 Pro board I purchased for this build, and all of the other boards I tested had the same issue. This is just a baffling oversight on CM's part.

Dust filtration is halfhearted at best. Maybe I'm more bothered by dust than most, but the provided mesh is pretty much useless for fines. Some kind of externally accessible, magnetic filters would be appreciated (and are available after-market for those willing to drop the necessary coin.)

Other Thoughts: CM's blocky, industrial look isn't for everyone, so if you're looking for a huge case with smoother lines you might try the Corsair 900D. Water coolers might also give this case careful consideration before purchasing, as fitting a 360mm rad on top is possible but challenging. I'd have preferred to see some offset holes for the top rad, too, as the current placement is somewhat limiting. Mounting options for 140mm rads/fans at the top would also be welcome. 200mm fans are fine, but I'd have liked flexibility.

All in all it's a good case, but not a great one. If you're already shelling out $200 for a case you're likely to be loading it with obscene hardware anyway, so unless you're sold on the HAF look I'd probably recommend the Corsair 900D for anyone looking for a monster case.

5 out of 5 eggsCM HAF X Blue Edition Review

Pros: Space. Loooots of space.
Front USB3.0, eSATA
SATA backplane for quick hard drive swapping
Room to put more fans/radiatiors, if needed.
Sturdy case chassis/panels
Front 230mm fan - lots if air movement with no noise
Casters in the box. Fully loaded, the case weighs a lot. WIth the casters, it makes disconnecting and pulling the case out for troubleshooting easy.
Thumb screws. Very easy to remove side panels and install PCI cards because they all use thumb screws.

Cons: Hard drive mounting strategy is kind of cheap. I had to try at least 5 different times to get the metal pin to stay in the rubber grommet when installing a 3.5" HDD. Maybe I'm just uncoordinated, but when I had a CM storm enforcer, the HDD rails were great and easy to use - these trays, not so much.
Heavy. Very heavy. To be expected, though. Large case.
Can only use VGA air duct OR side panel air duct, not both. Not a big deal because both provide adequate amounts of air flow to the interior.
Side 200mm fan connection gets in the way of closing the case sometimes. I probably should have routed the fan connector before everything else, but I don't feel like taking my case apart again.

Other Thoughts: Had to upgrade the case to fit the 970's. The HAF X is a monster of a case and you'll have enough room to fit any component in it.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing case- Way too much space inside. I love it!

Pros: Absolute ton of space
Hot Swap Bays
Very pleasing design

Cons: 2 gripes and it's not a big deal.

User manual is written in 300 languages confusing to read.
Side install drive bay trays are made of plastic and you have to be VERY careful putting them back in and handling them. I would actually pay $20 for this design with metal trays instead of that plastic.

Other Thoughts: I was going to go with the Cosmos II but after seeing the actual size of this case in person I'm glad I didn't because it's more than big enough for everything I need. You could literally run Quad SLI in this thing and still have room left over for a full water cooling loop for everything.

It's insane.

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master's Customer Service is Top-Notch!!

Pros: I've had this computer case for quite some time and have not left a comment that it deserves. For it's Gaming purposes, it's definitely one of the better, if not best, designs out there when it comes to cooling and design. The design itself may need a new rendition because of newer cases coming out, but for functionality--it's definitely worth the purchase. One of the USB ports chipped off because of possible continuous use and Cooler Master, despite not having a receipt, was willing to replace the I/O panel. I just received a brand new replacement without a hassle.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsWarped Back, Broken Front Fan

Pros: -good airflow

-4 fans

Cons: -came with a warped back, pulling my GPU while it was in the motherboard, probably doing some damage

-front fan only works if you open the front panel and spin the fan manually to get it started

-front USB ports are upside down

Other Thoughts: Really disappointed in this expensive case. I wonder if they will give me a full replacement, probably not.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat and sturdy case

Pros: This case has plenty of air flow, and plenty of space for multiple drives and large GPUs. The quick lock buttons make installing DVD drives very easy. The side window gives you a good view of the inside of your computer, and the wire shroud makes it very easy to hide a mess of cables.

Cons: The firewire port started smoking and shorted out the first time I turned on the computer. It is a port I don't use so not worth deducting an egg. The side air shroud, vga air duct, and vga bracket will not fit with some large GPUs like the EVGA 780ti classified

Other Thoughts: The front USB ports are up side down. This is just a bit strange, but not detrimental to function. There is a button to turn off the fan LED, but it only works for the front LED. The other fans have switches on the fans. I have not had a chance to use the hotswap bay yet, but I did wire it up for future use.

4 out of 5 eggsI LOVE this case!

Pros: I am very impressed and very pleased with this case. Fits the Corsair H100i liquid cooler PERFECTLY! Mounted the small 120mm fans below the rad and using the 200mm fans (2x) above for a push-pull airflow. Should cool a hot Intel Quad-Core very well. Plenty of room for everything I need in a high-end workstation.

Cons: As almost everyone else remarks on this case, I find the missing fans a nuisance at best and I would've very willingly paid more for them to be installed in the box already. So one Egg OFF for the missing fans. Specifically, I had to add a Cooler Master MegaFlow 200mm Blue LED fan, N82E16835103073, on top next to the other one. I also had to buy a Cougar 120mm Blue LED fan, N82E16835553012, for the plastic cowling intended to cool the video card. Newegg sells both of these. I also had to track down a hard to find 80mm Diameter x 15mm Thick Blue LED fan for the metal bracket that's supposed to be mounted above the video card. That last 80x15 fan was very hard to find, especially with a Blue LED in it. Newegg does NOT carry the 80x15 Blue LED fan so I had to buy it elsewhere. Happy hunting as I cannot tell you where. :-) Newegg's Rules ya know. But their initials are P P C s. Hopefully that will not get censored out. The little 80x15 fan with a blue led was really hard to find.

Other Thoughts: The parts list for this build starts with an Intel i7-4790K Haswell 4.0GHz Quad-Core/8-Threads LGA 11150 CPU, an ASUS Z97-DELUXE LGA 1150 Motherboard, 32GB Kingston Fury HyperX RAM (2 kits of a 2x 8GB Sticks Kits), a CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i liquid cooler, as my friend uses his quad-core CPU, all 8 threads, at 100% duty cycle on all 8 threads all the time! He's an extreme power user. :-) So air cooling was definitely not gonna be enough. We used an ASUS Radeon R9 280 3GB Video card, a pair of WD Black 1TB and 2TB hard drives, and an LG Blu-Ray burner and an LG DVD Burner. All drives are 6GB/s SATA drives with appropriate 6GB/s latching SATA data cables. Stuff all this into the Cooler Master HAF X Blue case and power it up with a SeaSonic 860W Platinum-rated power supply. I even modded the case by replacing the power LED with a 3mm High-Brightness Blue LED. He likes the Blue LED's and I have to admit that I do too. I did not buy the LED's through Newegg but they do carry some. I will probably replicate all of the above for myself as I really like this build a LOT. He and I usually prefer Lian Li cases (from Newegg) but this case is the exception. A really fine build. I'm hoping that he will be very happy with this build for a long, long time. I put a LOT of work in on it.
