5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: A great looking, mini-ITX case that can host a game-based PC and can be easily stored after use or brought to friends' house.

I had no problem installing my ATX non-modular PSU. Plenty of space to tuck away the unused molex power cable, extra length of my 24-pin power cable, extra length of my 8-pin cpu power cable and plenty of space to route my two SATA power cables.

A reviewer stated that he had a hard time fitting his ODD; I don't know if I got lucky or the problem has been fixed, but my ODD fitted perfectly.

To remove the front plate, you must pinch the two rounded pins at the bottom of the plate and push them a little bit. Then, do the same with the top two rounded pins and the plate should easily come off.

Cons: The two included fans have 3-pin connectors. You may wish to upgrade to 4-pin fans if you want your motherboard to control the chassis fan speed.

Other Thoughts: System is:
Intel i3-4150
MSI H97I-AC
GSKILL 2x4GB Ripjaws
MSI GTX650OC
EVGA 430W ATX PSU non-modular
Liteon blu-ray burner
OCZ Vertex2 SSD
WD Sata 500Gb

4 out of 5 eggsdecent though poor cpu cooling

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: nice compact mini itx case. well built

Cons: there is no reason that mini itx cases especially this one to have such a poor designed cpuy cooling , with out its fan on cpu temps climb. try designing something correctly.

Other Thoughts: really disappointing the terrible cpu cooling designs in most mini itx cases , guess if they built it right the first time there would be no reason to build more aside from aesthetics. if you want anything done right do it your self if your capable

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case for small boards

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: The case does pretty much everything well.

You've got enough space to fit four fans (2x120, 1 for the cpu, and one 80mm provided on the side).

Despite the size, you've got decent air flow.

Fitting three total HDD/SSDs is a surprise, but the bigger one is fitting all of those drives and a full size optical drive.

Cons: Just a few minor complaints here. They shouldn't be enough to prevent a purchase.

The cover for the DVD drive is easily damaged during removal. You should work one side off first, to avoid stressing the plastic clips excessively.

The instructions are pretty much worthless. See notes below for my observations.

The default cable routing is less than ideal. You'll need to reroute pretty much everything to make sure that it doesn't get in the way.

Other Thoughts: Put simply, the case is excellent for the price. You can get quite a lot into the box, and it doesn't melt down. I'd recommend a buy to anyone who's looking for a good media center PC.

After installing the motherboard, run the front panel cables. They need to be rerouted from the default passage, and they're the biggest pain to get positioned.

Once the front panel wires are done, install that extra fan. It'll be difficult to fit in, but the extra air flow is worth it.

Install all the SATA cables next. Smaller ones are better in this case, and the longest ones you'll want to use are 6-8"

Install the HDD/SSDs, then make sure the SATA cables are tucked away.

Install the ODD, making sure to connect the SATA data cable.

Undo the rear power supply frame, connect it to the PSU, and fish the wiring into the case.

Install the GPU.

Connect the power cables, slide the PSU in, and use the side rails and a bunch of zip ties to secure the power lines.

I'd recommend a modular power supply. There's room to fit in four 6/8 pin power cables and everything else you might find on a 750+ watt PSU, but it's a tight fit. A few extra dollars are definitely worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsgenerally good

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: - versatile and plentiful HDD/SDD options (up to 4x2.5+1x3.5)
- good airflow
- fans are quiet
- not flimsy (but light)
- fits regular power supply
- plenty of room
- allows for liquid cooling
- USB3

Cons: - very big for a case that can only house a mini-itx MB
- optical drive bay was not properly machined and I literally had to take a hammer to it (stripped some paint but it's not visible)
- front panel looks a bit cheap

Other Thoughts: - wish they'd add a third 2.5 -> 3.5 adapter tray
- it's wider than many micro-atx boards - with minor modifications (mostly relocate the Chipset fan, move MB closer to the edge, add a third slot) this could accommodate micro-atx MBs without increasing overall dimensions

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Case:

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: Good construction and case layout and plenty of room for an mITX case. Utilizes the ubiquitous ATX PSU. Very good value as well.

Cons: Very large for a mITX case, which may or may not be a con.

Other Thoughts: Excellent case as long as you know the size to begin with. I purchased this for a budget build and whilst I would have preferred a smaller form factor I knew what I was getting to begin with and am happy with the purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: This is a great mini-ITX case. The fans are quiet, and it looks sweet. Cable management was easy, it uses a full ATX PSU, and it will house a full sized, 2 slot graphics card. I was really surprised how happy this case made me. This case is housing a 25W AMD Kabini HTPC.

Cons: Not the size of a raspberry pi? For real though, no cons.

Other Thoughts: AMD Kabini 2.05Ghz
4Gb Gskill ram
MSI AM1l Mobo
Spare HDD and PSU and DVDRW
Surprisingly fast HTPC

4 out of 5 eggsSlick little budget ITX case

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: Decent design
Quiet fans
Good front connectivity
Full size disc drive and PSU compatibility
Good looks, discreet status lights
HDD/SSD installation

Cons: Kinda ugly at the same time?
Fans/airflow management is a bit fragmented
Terribly tight fit for non-modular PSU's

Other Thoughts: I wanted to make a budget mini itx build, and also recycle some parts from my previous build (disc drive, hard drive, PSU), so this case was ideal. My PSU has way too much cable length to it, so cable management was a must for me, and even with the included cable ties, everything was a snug fit. Once I put everything in, I realized I had no fans pushing air out of the case (2x120mm, 1x80mm). all of them were pushing air into the case, and the PSU was pulling air from out of the case the way i had installed it, so I simply spun the 80mm fan around so that it would pull air out of the case. Worked out fine (not that my build makes much heat in the first place)

Current build:

5 out of 5 eggsThe best Cable Management I have ever seen

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: Cable management *points at high res gif - imgur (dot) com/gaucjMc.gif (video submission seems to break something in the review system)*
The cover it goes on/off very easily, it does not argue with you about fitting, just place it on the 2 bottom rails and it slides into place line it is nothing
Assembling the system was easy but, be sure to plug the PSU cables into the motherboard before you completely install the PSU and don't forget the audio and USB 2.0 cables on the other side of the case like I did
Ever had a issue with the PSU sata plug being upside down? no matter your 2.5" drive can be mounted upside down
The case feels nice and solid, well built

Cons: The front bezel is solid which prevents air from passing through it (fixed in the 130 version)
weak stock fans, if you are building a system that will put out a lot of heat i suggest upgrading the front fan
no filtered intake
2 more zip ties would be nice (i grabbed a bag of 100 four inch zip ties at newegg, so i had plenty)
Only one USB 3.0 port
When using a PSU with a 120mm fan the PSU mount box may block off part of the intake (no big deal, the Seasonic unit i have in my primary system has a piece of this plastic that block airflow on that side of the fan's output to force the air to go through the PSU and not right out the back doing nothing)

I thought there was no manual for the case but it was under the bottom flap of the box

If you want to replace the side 80mm fan you are going to have a hard time finding one, one reviewer said they got a 80x25mm in there, you may be able to get 80x20mm in there, there is no way a 80x25 mm will fit in there without some serious modding

Other Thoughts: I got the 120 version instead of the 130 version due to the price difference in the shipping and rebate value

If you mount a 120mm fan behind the drive cage you will need to use a strait sata cable on the optical drive
If you mount two 2.5" drives on 1 rail you will want strait strait sata plugs unless you mount them so the sata plus are both sides of the case

In the video newegg has there is a cable tie down below the option 120mm fan mount the case i received does not have one there

I have done about 5 CoolerMaster rebates so far (mostly fans), never had a issue

I really can't say enough about the cable management of this case, i actually consider it better that what my Define R4 has in terms of functionality

2 out of 5 eggsMissing parts

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Long Graphics Card Support - Black

Pros: Good looking case, tiny foot print (relatively). Perfect for a home NAS (owncloud) + HTPC build. Good drive capacity for the size (but the shipped item doesn't quite work for my purposes for now - see cons).

I haven't actually built my system yet. So, I cant say if it works.

Cons: This case shipped with a missing 3.5 inch bay\slider. I wanted this case to install four 3.5 inch drives (after converting the 5.25 inch bay). Now I cant without spending more money to buy the missing part. Cant believe this thing left the factory without all the parts.

Also, the reset and power buttons on the case looks a little dodgy. The buttons move around freely (too loose). I'm afraid that the buttons would come loose and fall inside the case if I press too hard. This is especially the case with the reset button.

I've bought other cooler master products before and I've never had missing parts and their QC \ build quality is usually better than this.

Other Thoughts: Not too happy with the RMA. Apparently, it will cost me 20 to replace a case that cost me 40. I guess I'll have to see if I can get one of the 3.5 inch bays from a local store. Not a big deal though. But it will be funny if the case doesn't work and I had to really get it replaced.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Dilip T,

We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with the Elite 120. The case does come with a 2 year warranty so we can ship you the missing parts for free. We also carry replacement I/O panels if this needs to be replaced.

Please contact us by Phone or Live Chat.
