CM Storm Scout 2 Mid Tower Chassis

The highly anticipated recreation of the benchmark in LAN gamer cases, Scout 2 offers refinements on its predecessor’s design to arrive at a theme steeped in the future of combat. These refinements are bolstered by improved steel reinforced carrying handles, bolted to the core structure. Front console connections have been updated to USB 3.0 while offering protection from adverse travel conditions with hidden sliding cover. Support for current high-end hardware is greatly increased by a removable HDD cage that supports VGAs like the NVIDIA GTX 690 and AMD HD 7990, making the Scout 2 better prepared for all conditions. Scout 2 comes in Midnight Black, Gunmetal Gray and Ghost White color.

Pickup and go at a moment’s notice. Scout 2 comes equipped with comfortable and durable rubber-lined steel reinforced carrying handles that are bolted directly to the steel frame.
Scout 2 can support up to 9 fans for maximum airflow to keep your chassis cool.
The HDD cage can be easily removed to accommodate long high-end graphics cards.
A quick sliding cover protects your ports against damage from travel and other household hazards. It includes 2 x USB 3.0 and 2 x USB 2.0 ports with audio jacks and a LED On/Off switch.

5 out of 5 eggsReplacement Case

Pros: This case is sleek and provides everything a gamer could want in terms of size (space), cost, efficiency, and portability. The handle at the top makes it way less of a burden to carry to LAN parties.

Cons: The stock case comes with red LED fans. I switched mine out for green fans. There's a red LED strip on the top front I/O panel that I personally don't have the technical skill to change. So not really a con, just that it bothers me when I see the entire system lighted up green and then there's that one red strip.

Other Thoughts: Heavily recommend!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Large size, easily fit everything I had to put in there, including a water cooler.
The handle is sturdy so I can move it around.
Everything was simple to put together and came with more than enough hardware.
Hiding the wires was a breeze and looks very clean.

Cons: It's a bit heavy, but it's not really a con. It's a large case. I expected that.
The instructions could have been a tiny bit clearer.

Other Thoughts: The case was actually the hardest part in my decision to build a computer. It was actually the last thing I purchased. It took me days of research and literally hours to find one I knew I would be happy with. This case had everything I needed and more. I would buy this one again.

4 out of 5 eggsLove this box!

Pros: I love this box.

Great airflow options. Roomy enough for a mid. Lots of rails for drives. Easy to work with. Thumb screws galore! Included front fans (red LEDs which can be turned off with a switch on the front IO panel). Above average cable management.

Cons: A bit on the heavy side when loaded with gear.

Mobo cutout is a skosh too small for CPU cooler backplates, so install it before you install the board.

Limited radiator support... 120s only.

Would be nice if there was at least one SSD mount .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case with many options

Pros: handle, fan options, filters on bottom, enough room on side to hide cables, convenient holes to route cables

Cons: there is a lower and upper HDD rack. the upper is only semi removable. you can only remove half of the bracket, this is ok if your goal is to add a larger graphics card, but not as much if you are removing the rack for better airflow. you can dremel it out, but then you lose the ability to add HDD's into the upper rack forever. since i dont plan on having more then 3 drives in my PC at any given time i will probably dremel it out once i buy a dremel.

the case has a lot of fan options. i placed clear packing tape over the unsused side panel (inside of case). blue paint tape over the bottom unused panel as well as inside the front grill over the 2 external drive bays i am not using. i also used the tape to go over little holes on the back of the case. this should create better airflow.

the front fans have a semi filter. there is a grill, but not a "filter". a removable filter would have been nice since most people use the front 2 fans as intake.

these are small cons that can be fixed.

Other Thoughts: since its a mid tower case you cannot fit a h100i with fans inside the case. no matter how hard you try it will NOT happen.

not a big deal. my fans are in the case (wanted to hide the ugly noctua nf-f12 fans that i used to replace the stock h100i fans), the RAD outside (on top) of the case. i used 3m to stick the grill onto the RAD to protect it. all is good.

i replaced the 2 front fans with noctua nf-s12a , in case you are wondering you can NOT see the ugly brown through the grill. even with a flashlight you cannot see the color of the fans.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case.

Pros: - plenty of features
- bays are very simple
- easy to hide cables
- plenty of room for large graphic cards

Cons: The instructions were not very detailed. A first time builder may have a little difficulty with some of the features. Other than that no real cons for me.

Other Thoughts: I've been building with cooler master for years. This is one of their best cases to work with imo.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good mid tower case

Pros: This case is much better than my old Corsair 200R.
The cable management is great, it has lots of holes to route cables through, besides the big three that are covered with rubber grommets. Those grommets make the case look much cleaner ( and better).
My Corsair HX750 had a long enough CPU power connector to route it behind the MOBO tray, and down through a hole just above the connector plug, which is great because there are no cables going over the MOBO now! All the clutter goes behind the MOBO tray, and it has spots where you can tie down the cables to the MOBO tray to make closing the side panel easier.

The windowed side panel looks great and showcases the parts of the computer you want people to see.

The carrying handle is very well made, and is sturdy enough to lift a case full of components without any bending or warping.
The side panels are also very well made, with little to no flex at all. My old 200R had super flexible side panels , one of which bent when it fell onto the floor after I leaned it against my desk ON THE GROUND.
The front LED's look really nice, the mesh front makes the front of the case look like a heater which looks really cool.

Overall superb build quality, and well thought out case. very happy with this case

Cons: The LED on/off switch only supports two fans (the stock fans) which makes it less useful to me. I think you can do some DIY to hook up more fans to it but that's more work and up to you.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Mid Tower

Pros: I liked the second cover on the left side for cable management, which helps solve a lot of issues of appearance as well as function.

Has plenty room for a tall heat sink type cooler.

Rails for putting drives into drive cage are nice and simple. Comes with plenty of hardware.

Everything went together well during my build and quality seemed to be excellent.

Cons: LEDs are mounted high. I would have liked to have them mounted lower where they would be in my usual line of sight.

Other Thoughts: It is always hard to tell if a case will work good for your situation. After doing lots of research and getting measurements from the components I intended to use, it turned out to be a good match.

Note it has 2 intake fans in front, one at the bottom and one in the middle. The 5.25" bays take up the remainder of the space in the front. It also has one exhaust in the rear at the top. With an air cooler on the CPU, this shouldn't cause an air flow problem. My i7-5820k runs very cool. The two intake fans should create positive pressure to minimize dust coming in.

Also, most motherboards will come with an utility allowing you to tailor the fan speed curve vs cpu or motherboard temperature rise. I don't think cooling will be an issue with this case.

Cooler master also indicates that it can handle a single 120mm radiator in the back and they make no claims for mounting larger radiators in other locations.

If you need a lot more water cooling than that, there are a couple of grommets on the top rear you can run to an external water cooling set up. If that is not suitable, sounds like you need to go to one of those monster cases where you can run a quad 120mm radiator setup in the bottom.

This case can mount up a lot of extra fans.

Pros: cheap, has everything needed for daily gamers, looks awesome, easy to move around

Cons: would have been happier if it could be compatible with larger fans
