5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Rocks!

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: I bought my last CM case in 2009 (Cosmos full tower) and thought it was a good design so when I got the bug for another build cycle, I started with CM and saw the XB EVO. After a little research and reading the excellent posts on Newegg, I bought it. I had to find one in Vancouver! (live in NV) Newegg sold out. I am a design engineer (EE) and really appreciate the thought that went into this case. The idea of building from the top rather than the side is excellent. The removable MB tray is great. I went with ASUS Sabertooth Z97 and that strong PCB mounted to the tray is very solid. I see the concerns about space in the bottom area but as another owner pointed out, all it takes is a drill/bit to adapt this case to your design. Also I pulled the hot swap board as others suggested, just don't need it, plenty of room for SATA cables.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Construction/workmanship is excellent, disassembly is easy, I won't buy another tower.

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE this case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Was in the market for a new gaming rig and decided to try something different going with this cube shaped full ATX case. I have to say Cooler Master engineers deserve a beer for this one, they really outdid themselves. This case is clearly designed by gamers, for gamers. It is an absolute dream working inside this case. It is meticulously designed and well-thought out. You can see every inch where the designers stopped and said "hey, lets do this instead because it will make someone's life so much easier."

1. Sturdy
2. Looks good
3. Well ventilated
4. Amazingly accessible from every possible angle
5. Surprisingly lightweight

To summarize, this case is simply FUN to work on. I dont know what it is, but the ease of access to every possible angle makes working on this case a RELAXING event. Not that working on other cases is stressful, but what I'm saying is working on THIS case has a calm soothing effect :) Everything is exactly where you need it, and just when you're about to reach for something and predict "oh boy I cant wait to remove this piece, I'm sure it'll be annoying.....wait a second that was easy, man they did it again!"

Well done Cooler Master

Cons: There is absolutely nothing whatsoever to say bad about this case.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate..

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Case looks nice, works well.

Cons: The manufacturer response to my febuary post shows they still didn't even bother to read my review. I posted stating I did not know the name of the part I needed replaced, TWICE! I even put that clearly in the comments section of my RMA submission, with pictures of the USB ports failing to power on USB drives. I've still not been sent the correct part, I'm requesting a refund and will not be buying any CM products again. If it works perfectly for you, great, if you have to RMA something - be prepared for terrible service that doesn't pay the slightest bit of attention to your details.

4 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly roomy

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Very Roomy. I was able to fit my Tuniq Tower into it without issues. Good air flow. well designed. Was able to fit this case into an desk that i would not be able to do with a tower.

Cons: Power Cable management is a little bit of a pain but not horrible.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this case again.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best!

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: -Very airy (the amount of case that is actually screen is great)
-Motherboard tray is fully removable
-All the cages are removable
-The entire case easily comes apart so you can install everything without having to get too creative with your cable management
-Stock fans are relatively quiet
-The hotswap cages that are accessible from the front of the case are really innovative
-The power and reset buttons on the case have a really nice click
-The filter for the PSU is actually pretty nice and counteracts the fact that the PSU is bottom-mounted and sucking in dust/hair/etc from the surface it's sitting on

Cons: -Some stock screws were tight
-Modular PSU cables end up tightly tucked behind hotswap cages and are kind of hard to adjust at will

Other Thoughts: I saw this case more than a year ago and thought to myself, "That's my next case." I traded up from a HAF 912 and couldn't be happier!
As someone who builds a lot of custom PCs, I love this case. The top, both sides, and the front all come off, the motherboard tray comes out, and all the cages are removable. You can start at zero and put all of your components in without having to fight your way around cage walls and small holes with an inch of clearance.
All of my components fit nicely into the main areas of the case, and I love that I can tuck all my cables into the space under the motherboard tray without having to worry about how it looks. Cable management is no longer a part of my computer experience and that's SO GREAT.

My only complaint is that I tried to replace the stock 120mm front fans with my Chameleon LED ones, but the screws were too tight to remove with the tools I had on hand. However, the stock fans are black and contribute to the overall tight look of the case so I'm not upset at all.

10/10 A++ Would recommend/have recommended to literally everyone I know

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master HAF XB EVO

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: 1. Removable top and side panels for quick easy access.
2. Very sturdy construction.
3. Clean design.
4. Recessed handles on the sides of the case make transport / moving easy.
5. X-Dock with sliding and locking trays for swapping hard drives are the best. They provide quick easy access.
6. Great airflow top down, sides, front and back.
7. Overall works great as a test bench or as a final case build.
8. Install options for two 80mm fans at the lower rear, a 120mm on the upper rear. Also, other options for 2x120mm or 2x140mm fans for the front, and a 200 on top. Also room for a large 240mm radiator water cooler.
9. At a glance, the computer case is unique in shape and design.
10. Recommend using a modular power supply unit with this case to make wire management easier. Hard-wired power units with the extra non-used connections may make the wire management a challenge.

Cons: My only con is that this particular case is not stackable without some sort of modding or making your own top cover because of the convex or propped fan housing on top. It would have been nice to give it an overall flat design for stacking identical cases...but this is a minor gripe.

Other Thoughts: If you are sick of tower casing and guessing if your big GPU or multiple GPUs will fit...like I was, then get this case. Yes, it is squares-ville, but it houses everything nice, keeps things cool, and makes for interesting conversation and questions when friends come over and see it for the first time.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: For my first build in over 10 years I wanted something that wasn't too tall but easy to work with and this delivered.
No complaints at all.
Delivery was quick.
Easy to work with.
Great cable management.
Plenty of options for airflow or water cooling.
For this price range - I couldn't be happier with my choice of cases.

Cons: nothing comes to mind

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Great case. Very easy to install. Very spacious for motherboard up E-ATX. Since all the components are in close proximity to each other, I have no need for any cable extension. I was also able to use just 1 SATA power cable to power the SSD and the DVD drive.

Pretty good airflow. My CPU cooler was too tall so I cannot install a 200mm fan on the top.

My ZOTAX GTX 680 AMP was acting up as the fans are hitting the fan grill when installed horizontally. This case saves it as now the GPU is installed vertically and has no problem now.

This is my portal gaming box. However, this box is heavy with all the top end components that it is not very portable anymore. The case itself is not that heavy.

Cons: If you use the hot swap bays, don't use a hdd that gets hot, because there is no air flow for those bays. A 5400rpm hdd might do, but a 7200rpm drive will probably be too hot.

The PSU bay is a bit short. I can barely fit in my Corsair AX1200, and I am not able to use the hot swap bay once the PSU gets in there.

The front stock fans could be better, but are fairly quiet.

No rear exhaust fan so you have to get your own.

If you put a HDD in the internal drive bay (not the hot swap bays), you should get a couple of 80mm fans to cool them.

Other Thoughts: Get the DEMCiflex fan filters. They are expensive, but will fiter out all the dirt out of your case.

My build -
i7 3930k, OC to 4.3GHz
ASRock X79 Extreme 9
Prolimatech Megahalems
32GB Crucial Ballistix
MSI Lightning GTX 680 SLI
ZOTAC AMP GTX 680 SLI
Seagate 600 240GB x2 in RAID
Corsair AX1200
Samsung DVD Drive

The front LEDs for Power On/HDD are red.

Got all my Rebates from Cooler Master without any problems so great deals!

5 out of 5 eggsBeast Case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: - Lots of room to manage and route cables
- Great case for AIO water cooling
- Smaller than I expected
- Can completely disassemble just about every part of the case
- Portable
- Light-weight for its size
- Room for 4 full size HDD's, plus lots of room to toss SSD's in

Cons: - Building in this case may require lots of planning
- X-dock is a neat idea, but the Sata ports are facing up, should be sideways for easy access.
- Not all 200mm fans will line up with top fan spot. I had to use the included zipties to install my 200mm fan, so not work docking any eggs in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: A few things:

1 - This case does have an insane amount of space for cable management. However, Depending on what components you are installing, you will want to plan your installation out first. In my build I moved everything over from a full tower case, with two R9 290's cooled with Kraken G10 and Corsair AIO coolers, 4 hard drives, an SSD, another Corsair AIO cooler on the CPU, sound card, Optical drive and a Modular Power supply. I've built in a Mini ITX case before, and the experience here with the XB EVO was similar. You have to start from the bottom up. Once you have the system completely finished, you may have to remove a number of components in order to access drives and cables below. If you have a modular power supply like me and need an additional power cable plugged in, that means taking out graphic cards and unscrewing radiators, pulling up the motherboard tray while performing a balancing act with cables etc - just to plug a cable into the power supply, or to access anything in the compartment below. I was able to somehow wedge my fingers in and plug in a Peripheral cable into my PSU, but it took a great deal of effort.

2 - the front hard drive x-docks are an interesting idea, but I feel they are flawed. I removed the little xdock circuit board, for the reason that if I need to access or switch sata cables, I would have to take take half the computer apart just to access the sata ports, because they are facing up. Because of the location of the Xdock bay, it makes more sense to just take the side panel off the case and plug your sata power/data cables directly into the drives. If anything, the other hard drive bay on the left side of the case is much more awkward, and it's much harder to access cables once you have a system fully built.

3 - Great case for AIO water coolers. I have three 120mm AIO coolers, 2 for graphic cards and 1 for cpu, and this case is perfect. I have all three radiator fans blowing air out, with a 200mm fan on top blowing air down into the case and onto the components. Also, because AIO coolers work best if the radiator and pump are at the same height, this case is probably one of the few that compliments multiple AIO's properly.

Aside from the XDock, and the fan mounting holes for the top fan not being universal for 200mm, this case is pretty much flawless and one of a kind.
