4 out of 5 eggsSpacious, but no Rebate...

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: 1) Tons of Air flow for the cooling components.
2) Toolless Drive bay installation.
3) X-doc implementation.
4) Tons of fan placements, I'm an Air cool type of person so filling out all the fan slots is kinda an OCD type of thing. and I love all the fan mount spots.
5) The indented handles on the sides, great for lifting to LAN parties (if you have a lightweight system)!

Cons: 1) I purchased the EVO variant which means I swapped out the SSD bracket with a HDD. Now I could purchase a SSD drive sled from a third party vendor but I want the whole bracket to be swappable.
2) On my product (this won't be applicable to others) my MOBO tray sometimes won't cooperate when I want to reinstall the tray.
3) Rebates...I purchased this case along time ago but still have yet to receive a rebate in the mail (did the necessary paper work when doing so). and it's been 34 weeks, originally the rebate was set to 15 weeks if I recall.

Other Thoughts: Time for the nitpicks, 7 expansion slots for extra cards, I wish there could of been 8 but that what I spent my money on.

No dust filters with the side vents. dust filters for the drive bays are "frilled"

A great paper weight :P

This case is fantastic. Just I want my rebate.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: - Cool Design
- Main Cpnstruction is very sturdy
- Great Heat Management; I am air cooling a AMD FX-9590 perfectly (Antec Heat Sink). The case comes with 2x 120mm fans in front; which is all I have in ATM.
- Filter Screens; Keep my dog's hair out of my case
- Plenty of room in main compartment

Cons: - I would not recommend the Hot Swap Bay; its made of plastic and feels rather flimsy. Also the Sata connector it plugs into screws into the back with no reinforcement. Lots of reviews of it coming undone. (there are two more internal bays though on the side)
- The entire front of the case snaps on and is made of an ABS Plastic. I didn't realize this when I purchased the case, but It still looks good
- PS area underneath MOBO and main compartment is tight. If you have a modular PS and want to add cable later on, You will need to remove your MOBO and essentialy dissaemble your build.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this case having known about the bad hot swap bays and the tight PS area. I still gave the case 5 stars. If you want a full ATX case that looks different with good heat managemet, you aren't going to do much better.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Cube Case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: -Very sturdy
-Handles
-Lots of air flow
-PSU filter
-Thin clear top mesh

Cons: -Cable management could be easier
-The way the hot swap bays work
-Motherboard try definitely not designed for ATX even though they do fit

Other Thoughts: This case is by far the king of cube cases. Its cable management could improve slightly, but with a fully modular PSU it shouldn't be a problem for most enthusiasts. So I recommend buying a full modular PSU with this case. They case has great airflow. Keeping all components between 30-40C even with the fans turned down to half RPM. Though it could have TOO much air flow. Some of what you might not notice on the pictures for this case is that it has a lot of holes on the bottom of the case. These help with cable management, but I feel they would allow a lot of unnecessary dust to enter the case. Here are my two major gripes with this case, and the only reason it didn't get a 5/5 egg. The hot swap for the hard drives on the front. If you want to take out the holder in the case that holds the drives to make room for more storage, you can. Although when you take it out it leaves nothing to support the hard drive trays which just happen to be part of the pieces on the front of the case. So unless you want a big hole in the front of your case you should probably just leave the holder in. My other problem is with the motherboard try. When you put in an ATX motherboard it covers the cable management hole used for the 8-pin cable connector on the top of the board. Other than these 2 things this case is pretty much my dream case. At least until companies invest more time in making cube cases.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case So Far

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Everything fit very nicely, lots of cable tie downs. It was a little different for cable management with the two levels but it does allow lots of air flow over the mobo.

Cons: It is a little noisy being so open, but I still gave it 5 eggs because it is a HAF (High Air Flow) series and is kind of designed that way, plus my fans are low, low end.

Other Thoughts: Really nice case all around.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: This case is awesome because its all hot swappable, well organized, good airflow.. moddable.. etc

Cons: It's unconventional in shape/size is all, not a con for all.

Other Thoughts: Love it...

4 out of 5 eggsCooler Master HAF XB EVO

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: ~Cube case, unorthodox and easy to find a place to put it
~Horizontal Motherboard, No Card Droop/Flexing CPU sockets
~No frills Matte Black, looks great in any theme
~Great cable management potential, even for non-modular PSUs

Cons: ~Can hardly fit any tower coolers with the top 200mm fan ( 212 is 5mm too tall, two CM products dont work together :& )
~280mm Rad Liquid Coolers are unusable, even with 140mm fan mounts.
~Only one SSD adapter, two would have been great.
~X Dock works half and half, not super reliable

Other Thoughts: After moving on from a line of standard tower cases, I decided to mix it up and go for a cube case, this or a Corsair 540. This was on sale so I took the chance and it seems to pay off. Decent airflow, some good expansion options.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Tons of space, modular, fantastic air flow if you add a few fans, easy to work in, doubles as a test bench, removable motherboard tray, did I say tons of space! This is by far the best case I have ever built a system in.

Cons: The drive bays are in the bottom compartment under the motherboard and may be difficult to make changes to if you don't plan ahead. You must purchase additional fans to create proper airflow. Even with this I still give this case 5 stars because of outstanding design.

Other Thoughts: I have been building systems for about 20 years and this is the first case that I liked so much that I had to write about it. I hope that it starts a new trend in case design. I will never use a tower again.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Case scenario

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Roomy, well laid-out, stable, easy to work in and to carry cube of a case; separate sections for optical and hard drives (removable cages, yet) and PSU, and separate level for horizontally mounted motherboard; MB tray is removable; numerous fan mounts; hot-swap or tool-less interior hard drive mount options; all metal edges are rolled - no cuts!; filters for PSU air intake; reasonably inexpensive - wish had bought it sooner...

Cons: Can be a bit difficult feeding power and data cables thru, especially if using a large PSU - but at least no cut fingers! Only included 2 120mm fans mounted on front...

Other Thoughts: Likely the easiest case i've ever worked with, despite the cable wrangling; no heavier than a loaded full-tower when everything's installed, but far easier to carry and move; large thumbscrews are well knurled and have phillips slots; but CM ought to include matching 80mm fans for rear next to hard drives, and 1 120mm in back near CPU - not everyone will need the lid mounted 200mm (yeah, right...)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case.

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: Lots of room, quite, well made, relatively inexpensive, great positioning of most items, hot swap drive bays.

Cons: Needs a fan mount blowing air over the hot swap drive bays. This may be why others had issues with their drives dying. I highly recommend anyone that gets this case put an 80 mm blowing air over the hot swap drives. I mounted mine on the side of the case blowing toward the 5 and 1/4 bays.

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect case

This review is from: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: fans are decently quiet in the front. Not as silent as some, but much more silent then the Jetflow 120 by the same brand. Clean design that is extremely easy to hook up to all your hardware. Removable motherboard tray makes install a breeze. I have severe arthritis, and I didn't have a problem with this case.

front hard drive bays are just slide in and lock, which makes upgrades of hard drives very simple. this layout has its pluses and minuses. System stays very cool because air flows across the board without blocking anything. also with a 200mm fan added to the top, hot air that is rising is taken out of the case that much faster. I will be adding a front radiator to it for overclocking experimentation. The case is very well built and feels sturdy. No flexing parts that your scared will break or cause vibrations. It really feels like they tried to make it feel like a product you would be proud to show off. The price for around a hundred bucks really is a steal for the quality level.

Cons: case only allows for 2 cd rom type devices. This may be a problem for people with lots of fan adjustment plates on the front that they want to add. For me, 2 was enough for my drives and that's all I needed. My blu ray drive didn't evenly line up when locked into place in the case, the right side is slightly pushed in more then the left. The alignment problem wasn't sever, but may annoy some people if their case comes this way.

Other Thoughts: In all, a near perfect case. If the fit on the rom drive bay was perfect, then I really wouldn't be able to find any fault at all. Its made for ease of install and excellent airflow. If you find it difficult to install into many cases because of arthritis, you may find you can still use this case. Ease of install, great airflow, good price, whats not to love?
