3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: Very compact. Can fit a full size GPU. One of the few small cases with a DVD drive. The motherboard sits flat so GPUs sit upright, instead of sideways like towers. This prevents the card from bending under its own weight over time and dying after a few years.

Cons: Cannot fit most CPU heatsinks. Must be specific low profile models.

If a GPU is installed the front fan blows the wrong way. It needs to be an exhaust fan if you have a GPU with 2-3 fans sucking air into the case. Flipping it around reduced CPU and GPU temps by several degrees.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case! Poor customer service from marketplace seller.

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: If you are looking for a small form factor build, get this case! The reason I bought it was because it will fit a GTX 970 in a Mini-ITX build!

Cons: Only con has to do with the seller.

Other Thoughts: Is it possible to give negative eggs to the seller?

My wife and I received a nice tax return this year, so we decided to upgrade her PC. We bought all of pieces on Newegg on a Sunday. Estimated delivery 4-7 days. We received all the components on the next Wednesday. Everything except the case. I checked my order on the website, and PC Rush had not charged our card yet for the case. I contacted Newegg customer support, they told me since it was a Marketplace Seller they could only put me in contact with them to resolve the issue. I did not hear from PC Rush until 72 hours later. When they finally responded, they only repeated the information from the tracking that I received on Thursday. Telling me "standard ground" can take 7-10 days, and that they used USPS.

In this day and age, how is it possible for it to take 12 days (!) to ship something from California to Colorado?

I find my experience with PC Rush extremely frustrating. I am displeased with their support. I am displeased with their processing. And it makes me sick that Newegg would allow such abysmal service on their site.

Save yourself the headache, steer clear of PC Rush. Spend your money with Prime. A few dollars more, but it guarantees fast shipping and HELPFUL support.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat option for a small pc!

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: I chose this case because I already have a big gaming pc, and wanted something else just to use for browsing/netflix/etc. The case is very high quality, and as much as you don't believe it, your entire setup will fit inside this case!

My build didn't use a video card, so I can't comment on compatibility, but it looks like it can accommodate a full sized card to me.

Cons: Not necessarily cons, but consider this a couple of "warnings"
- If you plan to use an AMD APU, the cooler will be less than 1" away from the bottom of the PSU - It won't overheat but this thing is ridiculously loud, even while idle sometimes.

- Use a modular PSU, I know you want a budget build, but I wish I would have went modular in this build, save space wherever possible!

- Do your research, the PSU can draw in air from the top of the case, or from the bottom, but since it is sitting right on-top of the cpu cooler, it will just be blowing in warm air.

4 out of 5 eggsSmall, inexpensive Basic Case

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: - Looks good and is small

Cons: - Fan next to motherboard on one of my two cases died after 4 months.
- Everything in the case is tight to work on, but not unexpected in a case this size. The power supply cables are a difficult to manage in this small space
- Case fan next to motherboard seems small and provides only moderate cooling

Other Thoughts: - Overall I was happy enough that I bought a second one after 6 months for a second computer
- It is a basic case, so don't expect frills like removable drive bays, easy access, ...
- Installed an Asus Z87I-Deluxe MB, EVGA 970 with Reference Cooler (single fan), Silverstone NT06-PRO CPU Cooler, Blu-ray and (1) SSD, Corsair TX-650 (long cables, arg!), Had a bigger CPU cooler, but it wouldn't fit, so you have to go low profile.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: - Quality materials and workmanship.
- Wire connectors are well labeled.
- Fans run quiet
- Everything fits without conflicts, with one minor exception (see Cons below)
- Cable management wasn't too hard. Use zip-ties!

Cons: Long graphics cards can be tricky to install because of space conflicts with the 5.25" drive bay cage. My installed 10.10" x 4.38" card was a tricky fit, and it permanently has pressing contact against the bent-down flange on the bottom back edge of that cage. But it works, so I won't deduct an egg for it. Long cards less than 4.38" tall should have no problems, or you can go with one of those short single-fan cards. Or just Dremel off that corner of the flange before you build.

Other Thoughts: I definitely recommend this case.

My build:

Gigabyte H170N-WIFI motherboard
i5-6500 Skylake CPU
EVGA GTX 960 04G-P4-3967-KR 4GB w/backplate
G Skill Ripjaws V series 16 GB DDR4 2133 RAM (Model F4-2133C15D-16GVR)
Samsung EVO 850 250 GB SATA III SSD (no hard drive)
XFX XTR 550 power supply
LG internal DVD burner
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

It screams! (but quietly)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat itx case for some pretty nice gaming

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: I had originally bought the RVZ02. Although it was visually pleasing, it was prone to overheat and just didn't offer me what I wanted in a case. Now the CM Elite 130 is the best case I think out there for what I wanted from a mini itx build. The cooling is exceptional. There is plenty room within the system to have extra fans or water cooling within it while still being pretty small.

-Small case
-Plenty room for upgrades
-Room for water cooling/extra fans
-Does will with expelling heat

Cons: -Just a little big for what I thought it would be

Other Thoughts: -I would definitely recommend this to a friend

5 out of 5 eggs2 years later

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: EASILY the BEST ITX case out. There is NO competition for this.
You can Great ventilation on left and right side.
Left for video card fans to pull in cool air.
Right side has an 80mm fan that you can have push air in or out.
Front can accommodate a water cooling radiator easily.
If using water cooling, flip your PSU with the fan facing down so that the PSU acts as a case exhaust.
Otherwise face the fan up with an air cooling setup on your CPU so the PSU pulls cool air from the top vents and spits it out the rear.
You can find a 5.25 bay that accommodates a slim optical drive and a 3.5 card reader drive if you're lucky ;)
If you want to run a 2.5 ssd, and 2x3.5 HDD's, this will be an issue. Just rid of your 3.5's and get 1 big 3.5.
I've seen some people put SFX PSU's in here. I'd imagine it would help with ventilation. May even make it possible to install a custom drilled top fan with the shorter slim optical drive... can't confirm this though.

Cons: If you can find a better ITX case... I'll be quite surprised...
Bigger? Sure... but this is an ITX.

Other Thoughts: When I put this together I had the following:
Asrock z97e itx/ac mb
i5 4690 (3.5 - 3.9 turbo)
2x8gb GSkill Trident 7-8-8-24 1T @ 1600mhz 1.56v (wasn't stable when MB was set to 1.5v for some reason)
Crucial MX100 256gb sata III SSD
MSI Mini ITX GTX760 2GB
Corsair CS450M PSU

I don't know what happened to me recently, but I've been caring more about packing a punch from a PC minus all the unnecessary watt consumption....

I ended up selling my 4690 CPU to my friend and buying a 4690T (also a quad core, that only has a TDP of 45w!) 2.5ghz with turbo of 3.3ghz.

Benchmarks barely notice the difference. Maybe overall this cpu is about 18% slower. But I'm not encoding any videos (yet) so I don't really care.
I could have gotten a 35w TDP 4670T dual core with HT, but figured for another 10w why not future proof it a bit since prices were similar.

I also ridded of my Mini ITX GTX760 that pulled 200w on full load. Got a Mini ITX GTX950 that now takes a 6 pin instead of 8 and has a ~90w TDP i believe.

Even sold the GSkill TridentX 1.5v DDR3 1600mhz 7-8-8-24 1T ram for crucial 1.35 DDR3L 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 1T ram and run them at 1.25v.

PC used to pull 300w on full load of GPU and CPU... now it wont even get to 200w and it gets better FPS.

What a difference.

Now looking to eliminate my LCD screens that take up 280w while all 3 are on for some LED backlits that take up 80w total for 3.

Wish they had a 80Plus Gold Modular PSU that was 300-350w... my CS450m is now too much go figure.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case for what i was doing

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: perfect size for my back pack. i needed a pc not a laptop for the projects and random gaming i want to do and this fit the bill nicely

can fit a 120mm liquid cooler with the removal of front fan ,and some of the hard drive hangers that i didn't need

look up in google "cooler master 130 liquid cooling" then click video's . you're looking for User: "cooler master" and there video "Cooler Master Elite 130 - Installation" . this video explains what i did as its from cooler master it was the reason i bought this and thought it was a well thought out video/presentation

Cons: sorta bent my front face after it wouldn't let go. my fault really but she was really tight (only the mesh screen as i pulled it off it flipped and hit a desk corner)

Other Thoughts: really great tower and put together well , i cant wait to get it running and seeing how it holds up to moving around alot

5 out of 5 eggsLove this case

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling Support

Pros: It fit everything, including my non-modular PS.
fits very large videocard. 2slotX12"X5"
can fit a full atx sized PSU
lots of room
fans are quiet

Cons: On my particular video card, the power plugs happen to line of with one of the brackets for the 5.25 drive bay.
The 5.25 drive bay can be removed after drilling out the rivets. Would be nice to be more modular in this case, but for 40 bucks, its not losing an egg for that

Other Thoughts: I will never build a full atx again, this thing is a little less than a third of the volume of a Full ATX.
