5 out of 5 eggsRugged Case

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: I have been a Computer Technician for quite some time now. In particular, I specialize in system builds. Despite this, I have never had time or spent energy building my own PC due to my high standards for quality and price on the parts. I am constantly searching for parts that fit my personal standards while building and maintaining other people's computers, but haven't been impressed. Most often, the case is overlooked when manufactured so that it saves the company cash. Even the most aesthetically pleasing models feel like they will break apart in my hands. The day a customer brought this case in for maintenance was a turning point in this opinion of mine.
Weight indicates high quality metal and plastic. Handle is formed into the case like it was intended instead of an afterthought. Size is amazing, and for someone who is planning on fully bendable acrylic liquid cooling, I'll have room to spare!
I had watch a few un-boxing and review videos on this model and was impressed with the quality. However the videos couldn't display the feel and strength of the plastic used. I was even more impressed when I go my own. It feels like a high grade polypropylene material.
I got this item using a discount during a sale on it for under $130. For the quality, I'm thrilled to begin building this machine.

P.S. I ordered it without any special shipping and was told it would take 5-7 business days. I received it 2 days later!

Cons: I haven't owned for very long, and without a motherboard I have no way of testing the front panel for functionality yet. SSD tray seemed to be randomly thrown in as an afterthought, but for most people who will be buying this case, you're just going to use the 3.5" drive bays with an adapter for a 2.5" drive anyway (you'll want more space for intake fans or radiators).

5 out of 5 eggsTower of Power

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: Has all the space you need especially for large graphics card such as Sapphire Trixx R9 280-290x cards. Good Air flow for customization of case fans.

Cons: The only con are the instructions that come with this case are awful. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to put the case together as well as modifications.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case and warranty is amazing

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: Owned this case since March 2014, I will say the case has been awesome. March 2015 took it out and air pressured the fans from the debris of dust. Overall a great case and still operation with no fan failures or anything.

Cons: Front panel slots, which there are a total of 9 slots, 3 have become brittle and has snapped. Has a three year warranty so can't complain and is currently going through RMA for 3 replacement slots. Waiting on it but usually cooler masters customer service is pretty satisfactory.

5 out of 5 eggsnice case

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: the case is very solid overall. i love the modular 3.5 in bays, and the removable 2.5 in ssd bays. the case has 3 dust screens for easy channing. the air flow is optimal. the side panel is perfect for viewing all the hardware you want to show, but covering the wires.

Cons: the acrylic side could be a little higher to cover the psu. the car is heavy and packaging doesn't protect it from damage very well at all so expect to send the first one back to get replaced as both the original and replacement i ordered was damaged.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: Big, heavy, well constructed, I got 8 hard drives, and 8 ssds in this thing. This is the 2nd cooler master case I have bought, and I am very happy with it.

Cons: Had to wait for it to be in stock again.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: This case is huge and has plenty of fans, all of which were installed prior to arrival. All I had to do was mount the PS, Motherboard, and drives, connect the front panel wires, and go. It feels incredibly sturdy and I'll probably never be at a loss for space needed in future expansions.

My CPU has remained very cool between the airflow and my (probably overkill) heatsink. When idling it's in the mid to upper 20's C, and after some activity it's in the lower 30's. I've yet to gather any statistics during more resource intensive applications.

Cons: It's a bit heavy? That's what you get with a metal full tower though, if you want something lighter, go with a plastic case. The top handle makes it easy to carry if you can manage the weight.

The instructions could have been a tad more descriptive, but I worked through it.

Other Thoughts: The HDD light didn't work, but that could be my motherboard too. It's not a big deal anyway.

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: great case very spacious i love it to death and would still get another one or even the stryker.

Cons: i got the case with one of the case feet being cracked and not even in a secondary box to contain it in. its slighty banged up but not to bad to return it its still very good looking.

3 out of 5 eggsBuilt like a Humvee

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: HANDLE!! I will never buy a case without a handle again. Even as big and heavy as this case is, it makes transporting it anywhere much easier, even if it's just out to the garage to work on or clean it.

Will fit an XL ATX board, top-mounted Corsair H110, six 3.5" hard drives, four SSDs (thanks to a bottom-mounted mini-rack and the hot-swap bay), three ODDs and the two biggest GPUs you can find, if you want all that, with plenty of airflow. Or you can rip out the two HDD bays and have nine optical, or you can rip out the SSD rack and one HDD bay and have bottom-mounted intake fans (there's plenty of clearance on low-pile carpet.) Plenty of customizability.

The red fan LEDs are quite tasteful and can be turned off with a button on top of the case. Your two included 120s, the rear-mount 140, and the top mount 200 can all be adjusted to seven different speeds with similar buttons (the soft red LEDs under the buttons tell you what speed you're at, and also beep at you when you hit minimum or maximum speed.) The power button is HUGE and makes a satisfying click. The reset button can be a little hard to find but is hard to accidentally press, which is nice. Removable dust filters on the top and bottom vents, including one for a downward-facing PSU.

BOOTABLE/HOTSWAPPABLE SSD BAY!!!. I can power down my PC, pull out my Windows 8 SSD, throw in my Windows 10 Preview SSD, and reboot in about 20 seconds.

Front drive bay covers look great and are easy to remove with no tools necessary. Entire case is pretty, metals are solid and dull and non-metals are matte and tacky to the touch. Both side panels slide off and on like silk.

Cable management is a dream. If your 8-pin CPU rail isn't quite long enough to get around back, they've got you covered with an included extension.

Cons: HUGE and HEAVY!! If you are under 6'5" this will come up well over your knee. I have 2" clearance from the top of this thing to the bottom of my keyboard tray. All that stuff I said you can fit in this thing? I have none of it. Standard ATX, air cool, one SSD, one hard drive, one GPU. I should have gotten the Storm Scout, but I'm not about to pack this back up and mail it back.

The 200mm fan on top is pushing air through a 2x140mm rectangle. That can't be efficient. Worse, there's literally nowhere else to put the 200m fan on the case if you decide to go with a 280mm liquid cooler.

If you want to use the hot swap SSD bay, you're gonna have to work for it. First of all, the SATA cable hanging out with all the front panel connections is for the (worthless) front panel eSATA, not your SSD bay. If you look WAY up in there, you'll see the SATA connection you need to reach. I had no problem getting the cable to reach the mobo, but the power was another story. It's 4-pin molex, not SATA power, and the molex rail from my PSU barely reached up there.

Swapping out HDDs is a bit harder than it needed to be. If you pull off the front 5.25" covers (again, very easy) you can then unscrew each of the 2 bays and pull them out from the "front" (meaning the side of the case you have off when you want to make minor changes.) But to pull the individual HDD rails out, you have to take off the back, or remove the 3-HDD bay entirely. It didn't have to be this way.

Other Thoughts: Only 4 fans included: In addition to the 200mm top exhaust and 140mm rear exhaust, there are 2x 120mm with red LEDs, mounted as intake onto the hard drives. I moved them to the bottom as I only have one HDD, and the way the case is set up the air will pass right out the other side instead of cooling the mobo and GPU.

You can add at least 2 more fans, hook them up to the special 2-pin power adapters and have the top panel control light and/or speed.
