4 out of 5 eggsslightly damaged

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: great case very spacious i love it to death and would still get another one or even the stryker.

Cons: i got the case with one of the case feet being cracked and not even in a secondary box to contain it in. its slighty banged up but not to bad to return it its still very good looking.

3 out of 5 eggsBuilt like a Humvee

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: HANDLE!! I will never buy a case without a handle again. Even as big and heavy as this case is, it makes transporting it anywhere much easier, even if it's just out to the garage to work on or clean it.

Will fit an XL ATX board, top-mounted Corsair H110, six 3.5" hard drives, four SSDs (thanks to a bottom-mounted mini-rack and the hot-swap bay), three ODDs and the two biggest GPUs you can find, if you want all that, with plenty of airflow. Or you can rip out the two HDD bays and have nine optical, or you can rip out the SSD rack and one HDD bay and have bottom-mounted intake fans (there's plenty of clearance on low-pile carpet.) Plenty of customizability.

The red fan LEDs are quite tasteful and can be turned off with a button on top of the case. Your two included 120s, the rear-mount 140, and the top mount 200 can all be adjusted to seven different speeds with similar buttons (the soft red LEDs under the buttons tell you what speed you're at, and also beep at you when you hit minimum or maximum speed.) The power button is HUGE and makes a satisfying click. The reset button can be a little hard to find but is hard to accidentally press, which is nice. Removable dust filters on the top and bottom vents, including one for a downward-facing PSU.

BOOTABLE/HOTSWAPPABLE SSD BAY!!!. I can power down my PC, pull out my Windows 8 SSD, throw in my Windows 10 Preview SSD, and reboot in about 20 seconds.

Front drive bay covers look great and are easy to remove with no tools necessary. Entire case is pretty, metals are solid and dull and non-metals are matte and tacky to the touch. Both side panels slide off and on like silk.

Cable management is a dream. If your 8-pin CPU rail isn't quite long enough to get around back, they've got you covered with an included extension.

Cons: HUGE and HEAVY!! If you are under 6'5" this will come up well over your knee. I have 2" clearance from the top of this thing to the bottom of my keyboard tray. All that stuff I said you can fit in this thing? I have none of it. Standard ATX, air cool, one SSD, one hard drive, one GPU. I should have gotten the Storm Scout, but I'm not about to pack this back up and mail it back.

The 200mm fan on top is pushing air through a 2x140mm rectangle. That can't be efficient. Worse, there's literally nowhere else to put the 200m fan on the case if you decide to go with a 280mm liquid cooler.

If you want to use the hot swap SSD bay, you're gonna have to work for it. First of all, the SATA cable hanging out with all the front panel connections is for the (worthless) front panel eSATA, not your SSD bay. If you look WAY up in there, you'll see the SATA connection you need to reach. I had no problem getting the cable to reach the mobo, but the power was another story. It's 4-pin molex, not SATA power, and the molex rail from my PSU barely reached up there.

Swapping out HDDs is a bit harder than it needed to be. If you pull off the front 5.25" covers (again, very easy) you can then unscrew each of the 2 bays and pull them out from the "front" (meaning the side of the case you have off when you want to make minor changes.) But to pull the individual HDD rails out, you have to take off the back, or remove the 3-HDD bay entirely. It didn't have to be this way.

Other Thoughts: Only 4 fans included: In addition to the 200mm top exhaust and 140mm rear exhaust, there are 2x 120mm with red LEDs, mounted as intake onto the hard drives. I moved them to the bottom as I only have one HDD, and the way the case is set up the air will pass right out the other side instead of cooling the mobo and GPU.

You can add at least 2 more fans, hook them up to the special 2-pin power adapters and have the top panel control light and/or speed.

5 out of 5 eggsCM Storm Trooper

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: I purchased this for my daughters system. Good quality. I would recommend this case to almost everyone (see other thoughts)

Cons: None, see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The material on the top part of the case get dirty/dusty fairly easy. If you are uptight or do neat clean your pc semi-regularly, this may be a negative to some but I think the vast majority (~95%) will not be bothered at all.
Case arrived with on bay cover broken. Box was undamaged as well as packing material. I assume that the cold weather caused brittleness in the plastic.

4 out of 5 eggsAre you a basement dweller with a cat?

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: Lots of space for everything

Cons: Lots to take apart when cleaning, bad power button placement, somewhat sticky power button

Other Thoughts: I know what you're thinking. That power button has interesting placement. And you're right, your cat will turn off/restart your computer mid battle, and yes you will be laughed at.

4 out of 5 eggsShould be called Super Trooper

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: I found the case to be more than I expected. Its very well built but quite heavy. (32lbs empty, thats probably why the handle is rated for 80lbs) It has great airflow and room for just about anything but the kitchen sink. All the vents have removable filters. If your using an SSD, then you can remove the 2 drive cages in front for even more air flow.

Cons: The only cons I have are with the front bay covers, after removing them once a month for cleaning over the last 8 months ( which is a necessity where i live) the tabs on the sides get weak, like when you bend a thin piece of metal too many times and it eventually breaks at the bend, thats the same feel these get. I have 1 extra from putting in a DVD burner, so hopefully only one breaks because the replacement parts have been out of stock for months. The other con is the listing of red LED fans, its not all of them (as was stated in the info on newegg at the time i purchased), just the front 2. I solved this by getting some red LED strip lights and mounting inside the case.

Other Thoughts: My only other thought would be giving the option of a left side window panel when ordering. When i bought mine, it wasnt available but apparently it is now for $20 ( when its in stock, like the front bay covers, it never seems to be).

1 out of 5 eggsI ordered this, got a diffrent one

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: Don't know

Cons: , I bought it for the 3.5 drive slots, but they sent me a different case.
the other case did not have the 3.5 drive slot quantity I needed and had to manufacture a block to store them in the case, also it did not have the mounting for the server board like the one i did order.

Other Thoughts: Probably should let people know if you are sending something else instead.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble you had with our case. Would you be able to contact us to get more details as to what transpired? We wish to know if you ordered a case and got a different case or did you get a different version of the case?

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Warranty

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: Nothing at this point

Cons: I originally sent in a raving review about this case, but now that I need warranty, Its horrible. My front OI panel went dead and have been waiting over 1 month for replacement part and still no shipping date in sight. I have talked to 2 people from Cooler Master and they say they will have it shipped out right away, what a load of garbage. I suggest staying away from this case and even Cooler Master till they get their act together. My computer has been sitting in pieces for over 1 month and cant use it. They need to start compensating their customers for there horrible service. I will never buy another Cooler Master product as long as I live.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble you had with our case. Would you be able to contact us so we can that part replaced and make this right?

Respectfully,

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME

This review is from: CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: - Roomy
- Well built
- Air flow
- Lots of 5.25" externals
- Adapters
- Cable management
- Way more!

Cons: Honestly cannot think of any, which is rare...

Other Thoughts: This case is absolutely fantastic, and it looks like newegg FINALLY got the price right as it was over $250 for the longest time so I've been buying them elsewhere.

The case is large and has plenty of room for everything inside. I never felt cramped. I was able to TOP mount an H80i in a couple builds with this case. A very quick mod allowed me to put one of the two fans outside the case, under the top piece, so the whole thing wasn't dangling down covering the top of the mobo. Putting an H100i in some other builds looks super clean as the radiator isn't as thick as the 80's and this case was designed to take a 240mm radiator so that's expected.

The HDD bays provided are well done as they take 4 HDDs and only eat up 3 x 5.25" bays, like all the aftermarket conversion bays. Nice quiet fans too.

The fan and LED controls on the front are a great touch. Don't like the LEDs? Turn them off with the touch of a button.

Fit and finish on this case is beautiful. The dark hard rubbery feel of the top piece and the front on the sides makes it that much more premium. The carrying handle is "handy" if you need it. Yes the case is heavy, its VERY well built and rock solid.

The 2.5" hot swap bay is a great touch for my particular build as it was actually needed. Unfortunately the tray for that bay, in one of the cases I got, wasn't seated properly so the SSD couldn't hit the SATA & power connectors. I had to figure out how to take the case half apart to get at it and seat it properly, but was better than returning after I had already put everything in!

I'm sure many will find the hidden storage drawer in the bottom of the case a waste of space but it serves a purpose for my builds so yet again another bonus feature.

Cable management is outstanding. Plenty of room behind the board to run and tie everything down. Never had the slightest issue getting that side put back on.

The only knock I can think of is that with the 4 x 2.5" SSD holder that mounts to the bottom of the case, right in front of the power supply, it makes for some interesting routing of the power cables coming out of the PSU. Nothing that couldn't be worked around though.
