3 out of 5 eggsBad more than Good

This review is from: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black / Blue SGCC / SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Lots of disk bays, some nice internal disk mounting hardware. It has this quick snap things which can lock a disk drive in place using just your fingers in a few seconds.

Cons: Top mounted headset and USB connections. This results in the USB and headphone wires running down front of case, and the DVD disk tray keeps catching these wires when it opens and closes. Better to have these connections on front, below DVD bays so they don't get snagged. Also the power light and HDD blink light are on top (facing to ceiling). It's a tall case, I have on desk top, so I can't see the top lights. Better these were on the front of the case also. Might be good if on floor though. It has a lot of large disk bays, for like three DVD disks, then a mix of internal bays for disks. My power supply has two SATA wires with three connections on each. Because of the bay layout, I can only connect two disks drives per cable, can't use all three because can't put three disks that close together in this case. It's exhaust fan is out of the bottom of the case, which seems the worst place possible. I thought it exhausted out the top. Even exhaust out the back would be better than against the table it sits on. Can add more fans though.
I did buy this, but I would say, it's ugly. That top section with the power button, lights, and USB/speaker connections looks like a bolt on or a mistake. A flat square top would be much better looking.

Other Thoughts: I also was victim of the Rebate denial which others have described. I suggest get the case, check it out for a while, and if you have find it sort of weird like I found, send it back. Once you send the rebate, can't get a refund.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case for the price

This review is from: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black / Blue SGCC / SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: The thing fits everything just fine, looks great and the airflow is excellent with 3 fans.

Cons: painted on the inside, just to be careful during install I had to ground myself to something else but thats not really a con

4 out of 5 eggsENERMAX OSTROG - Blue

This review is from: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black / Blue SGCC / SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Arrived in a sturdy box with snug form fitting Styrofoam to keep drop-kicks from UPS from damaging contents. Came without any missing hardware. Easy side panel removal. Metallic structure/frame is sturdy enough but still flexes a little if you push on a corner. Interior cages disassemble easily enough to grant max access. Lots of fan placement options (12cm only).

Plenty of drive capacity for burners, HD's and such. Even a floppy cage for that or a card reader.

Cable management is sparse but adequate.

Cons: The plastic attachments are made with a REALLY cheap grade of plastic. Front plastic bezel took more force to remove than I wanted to apply and when it snapped off, I thought I broke something but everything held. After a few removals, it's sufficiently broken in enough to require less force. As others have mentioned, included fan is of the lowest quality. It may be easier to just dump it now rather than listen to it grind a few months down the road.

Ideally, for best cooling you want to create a "wind-tunnel" effect in your case where incoming air front/bottom is funneled through the system and exhausts out the top/back. This case makes doing this a little more difficult because everywhere you look, there's mesh. Even the add-on card slot covers are perforated (never seen that before). That loss of air pressure diminishes the efficiency of using just a few fans. If you're rocking a lot of heat, you may want to consider at least 4 fans for such an open environment.

The single fan screen included with this case (located under the PS mount) comes off if you look at it cross-eyed. I had to bend the tabs it slides into to keep it from falling out whenever I picked up the case. The front fan (if you install
one there) is mostly covered by the front bezel where there isn't much air flow. There may be an inch or so of clearance which makes it harder to pull outside air into the case but it sits right in front of the lower HD cage. If you're using platters you'll want a fan there regardless.

I can't comment on the tool-less drive locking mechanisms since my install hasn't progressed to that point. However, if you don't like them there are plenty of holes to mount your drives with screws.

There isn't a caddy or other dedicated spot for an SSD. However, you may be able to get away with something I tried once on another build when I didn't feel like waiting for a caddy to arrive in the mail. Pick one of the 5.25 inch bays, remove one of the tool-less locks and align one side of the SSD's mounting holes to the screw openings and attach that way. You would be surprised how securely this holds a light-weight SSD. There are certaily enough mount holes to make this a possibility.

Other Thoughts: Let's be real here. You're not buying a sub $50 case to impress anyone. Slap your hardware in, set it down and leave it alone and this will work just fine for most. At this price, your not expecting all the luxuries, you just don't want something that fights your every move. This case delivers enough on the performance vs price ratio for all but the most picky builder.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad for the Price

This review is from: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black / Blue SGCC / SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Cost
- Good Cooling for such a cheap case
- Quality
- Side Window

Cons: - Included Fan is Cheap
- Holes are Threaded Poorly
- No Tool for moving Standoffs
- Lack of Screws

Other Thoughts: For what I paid, I was not expecting much of this case. But, it left me pleasantly surprised. The case has plenty of fan mount locations which give it a decent amount of cooling potential. The side window at such a low price point worried me, and my case does have a small chip out of the plexiglass, but otherwise I am happy with the window quality. I am also happy with the overall material quality of the case. The front bezel is solid and the frame is sturdy. I would have liked to see a little more quality is the tapped holes. All of the holes are hard to get things properly threaded into, and I managed to strip one of the front fan mounting points trying to install a front fan. While on the topic of mounting, there is a lack of screws that come with this case. You get screws to secure the motherboard, screws for the front fan, and screws for the power supply. I would have liked to see some more screws included. I would have also liked to see an included tool for moving the pre-installed motherboard standoffs. My final gripe with this case is that the included 120mm fan is cheap. The fan is only able to be powered through a molex pass-through (which I had to mangle to get to work). That being said, it is somewhat quiet, but it moves very little air.

Overall, this is not a bad case for the price. You get plenty of component room, plenty of cooling options, and even a side window.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black / Blue SGCC / SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a great budget case I just love it. I was a little worry about it since it only had two reviews but they were solid and my cousin use to use their power supply all the time so I thought I give it a shot and boy I’m glad I did. Case is sturdy doesn’t feel cheap like some. No sharp edges that I could find. Plenty of room to work with. Came undamaged which is a plus. Love it all around would highly recommend it.

Cons: The only con is the tool less system is horrible but I don’t use them any ways I take them out I like my screws. That’s another thing if you’re not using the tool less than there’s not enough screws there’s just enough for the motherboard and a few for the add on and one for the front fan but that’s fine I have tons of screws. Also note there is no front fan but I have a SSD in so they don’t need one.

Other Thoughts: Buy it you won’t regret it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good case

This review is from: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black / Blue SGCC / SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very lightweight, good airflow in the case, lots of place for extra fans ( wich you will need since it only comes with one fan). REMOVABLE HARD DRIVE CAGE! very very good idea if you plan on buying a big graphic card. Windowed panel is very durable and solid, place for 2 fans on panel, Overall very pleased with this case.

Cons: Only comes with one fan, mounting for front fan is bad since in my opinion, it dosent really have enough place to grab its air. It had so many other places for fans i couldnt knock an egg on this.

Other Thoughts: Do not hesitate to buy, very good quality case!!

5 out of 5 eggsnice case for the money

This review is from: ENERMAX OSTROG ECA3253-BL Black / Blue SGCC / SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: - the price!
- 1 usb 3.0 & 3 usb 2.0 front ports.
- huge side window.
- spots for 7 fans.
- 4 external 5.25" drive bays.
- there is also enough room on the top for a closed loop liquid cooler like the H100.
- side panels come off and on extremely easy unlike some other cases ive had.
- motherboard standoffs were already installed for atx.

Cons: - toolless design isnt the best but works.
- the cutouts for cable managment could be a bit bigger. overall the cable management is sufficient and i was able to hide all my cables without much effort.
- the expansion slots have punchout covers.
- i keep my tower on my desk and this case is designed to be on the floor. its power/reset buttons and front panel ports are on top.
- instructions are lacking. this seems to be a trend with all products now. its a case so you really dont need instructions but it wouldnt hurt companys to spend the extra hour to make decent instructions.

Other Thoughts: i didnt run into any real issues with this case. most of the issues i listed are nitpicking and i am easily able to overlook because of the price. my favorite sub $50 case i have purchased. i would buy it again.
