3 out of 5 eggsReaming Required

Pros: Solid Design
Decent Airflo
Reasonable Price

Cons: Motherboard mounting plate had several loose stand-offs (See Other Thoughts)

Other Thoughts: We always test the standoffs as some Mfg. processes leave them loose.
Found several were loose due to stripped threads (over-tightening, we thought)
Since we have a large assortment of spare standoffs, this was no real problem until we discovered that the holes in the motherboard backing plate were never tapped out properly (likely due to over-used dull taps)
This forced us to remove the backing plate and re-tap the holes.
NOTE: we purchased two in the recent order, but only one had this problem
Request the Mfg. do a bit better job of Quality Control

3 out of 5 eggsTight Fit

Pros: East to access and install all necessary hardware. Included fans keep the system cool. Great case for file server.

Cons: If you plan on using a full size video card or any large expansion card you will not be able to use all of the internal 3.5" drive bays. When filled with hard drives they extend over the motherboard. I needed to use an right angle SATA cable to use one of the ports as the hard drive blocked the connection on my mother board. The position of my graphics card (double wide card) blocked the use of 2 of the internal 3.5" drive bays as the edge of the card was touching the drive holder and mad it impossible to install a hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Nice case, if it was about 2" deeper the hard drive cage would not have interfered with the motherboard or graphic card

3 out of 5 eggsMixed bag

Pros: Inexpensive.
This got me an affordable rack case for my GNS3/Cisco lab
It is a good size for my desktop 12u rack. I have other rack cases that are too deep and hold 15 drives.
This is a nice size without being overwhelming.
Construction is sturdy. The case body and handles are solid metal and do not flex.

Cons: Cheap

By far my BIGGEST complaint is the noise from the fans. I sit in a small office full of computer systems and electronics and this thing overwhelms all of them. This is classic high pitch server room WHIR. I wish the case had more standard 80mm fans instead of the dual 60mm ones in the back. The front being 120mm is easy to replace with a quiet one.

Motherboard mounting standoffs do not fit properly so I had to use my DeWalt drill and some sockets to force a post in the case. Not a huge issue for me but inconvenient.

Other Thoughts: If you need a quiet case case, this is NOT for you. I will likely not purchase another one because I will need to spend $30 more to replace the fans now. Really this case was not a good deal because of the extra expense so I can stay in a room with it.

The USB ports are upside down so my 2 Logitech nano receivers are as well. Minor.

The protecting paper on the smoked plexiglass door is still on the inside of the door. I suppose this offers both shipping protection and could be left on to block the light from the very bright green and red LED's.

Pros: Fairly sturdy light weight case. Includes rubber feet if you don't care to rack mount it. Has 2 different size brackets for holding down long expansion cards (took me a while to figure out what they were for, don't know if they're long enough to work well!)

Cons: None of the included screws fit the standoffs! And there were not enough standoffs for my full size board.

Why are the USB ports upside down? Easy enough to remove and turn around.
No manual, but is one really required?

Other Thoughts: There's paper on the plexiglass, you need to unscrew the panel to remove all of the paper. On the plus side, it helps protect the panel from being scratched during shipping/installation.
Frustrating that there are not enough standoffs, and you need your own screws to fit them!
The 3 fans use Molex connectors for power.

3 out of 5 eggsOdd but works pretty well

Pros: Good Looking and pretty light.

Cons: Hard drive bays are not situated in a way that best uses the internal space of the case. Interferance with SATA ports is easy.

Other Thoughts: Ended up using zip ties to hold drives in other direction.
Great price and good looking.

2 out of 5 eggsLazy Manufacturing, Overstated Specs

Pros: inexpensive, fairly sturdy

Cons: 9 internal drive bays is an exaggeration

no manual

The few screws that come with it don't fit the standoffs on the backplane, no screws I have in my shop fit the standoffs, the other holes in the backplane for additional standoffs are painted over and impossible to use without drilling and tapping them, the standoffs are VERY short so finding replacements was pretty difficult unless I wanted my motherboard to sit too high causing problems with add-in cards

The drive cage holds 6 drives, there are two spaces on the external cage above & below the 5.25 & 3.5 external bays. When I called the manufacturer, I was told I could hang two more drives from the stabilizer rail that runs across the top of the case. They would hang by two screws out in the wind.

The plexiglass windows was cut from flat sheet stock very roughly and came with the protective paper still on the inside.

The paint is easily scratched.

Other Thoughts: With a little more attention to detail, this would be a decent old school case. The holes for the standoffs need to be usable. The case needs to come with additional standoffs & screws that fit the standoffs.

The case also needs to be advertised as having 8 internal drive bays.

I appreciate that there is a number to call for support on the manufacturer's website, but when I called, the gentleman I spoke with had a hard time understanding me and many people would have had a hard time understanding him. He was familiar with the case and answered my questions one he understood me. I wish that conversation had gone a little easier.
