Antec does it again! The Solo offers maximum room for your drives without resorting to a full sized tower. It boasts room for a staggering four internal 3.5" drives. Not content there, it integrates four 5.25" external drives by removing the rarely used 3.5" external bays. If you want any of the external bays to be 3.5", a simple adaptor can be used to seamlessly convert them. Naturally, it includes two USB ports, a Firewire port, and two audio ports located on the front of the case for easy access. Made with the toughness of steel, yet you will have no worry about accidental cuts or scrapes as all edges have been folded over to prevent that dangerous razor sharpness.

The tray supports all standard ATX Motherboards up to 12" x 9.6", with 7 PCI expansion slots in the back. The system comes with a 120mm adjustable speed TriCool fan to be used in the back of the system.

  • newegg Quiet Computing Technology The Antec Solo features the latest in noise reduction technology, including dual-layer sound deadening panels and a suspension system that makes hard drive noise a thing of the past.
  • newegg Piano Black Finish With the beautiful piano black finish, the Antec Solo looks no more just a bulk of steel and plastic. The decent and elegant appearance makes computer systems built with the Antec Solo carter to those particular tastes.
  • newegg Flexible Expandability with up to 8 Drive Bays The Antec Solo provides four external 5.25" drive bays (including a 5.25"-to-3.5" HDD adapter) and four internal 3.5" drive bays in tray mount mode or three internal 3.5" drive bays in suspension mount mode for flexible expandability.
  • newegg Enhanced Cooling System The Antec Solo features a 120mm Tricool fan with a 3-speed control to achieve the optimum balance between quietness and cooling. Two front 92mm fan mounts are provided for optional HDD cooling.
  • newegg Convenient Front I/O Panel The convenient front I/O panel enables easy access to two USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394 port and two audio ports.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb Case

Pros: The way a case should be built. Quality. Ease of swapping peripherals. Sturdy build. The only case I know that comes close to this one are the Enlight cases, which these days are gonzo. The Antec Solo is perfect. Money well spent. Antec builds some great products, and this is one of those.

Cons: doesn't brew coffee well, just yet. I'm working on that though;)

Other Thoughts: It's an Antec product. They build some fine stuff and this is one of those.

3 out of 5 eggsVideo card doesn't fit

Pros: Nice and quiet.

Cons: Video card had interference. It was about 10" of clearance and needed 10 3/4" to clear fan housing.

4 out of 5 eggsAntec Solo

Pros: I dearly love this enclosure. It is the second one I have bought for the most recent computer I have built. The quality is excellent . . . except for . . . .

Cons: As a couple other reviewers have mentioned, the power pushbutton switch is beyond hinkey! As I was building the machine, the physical switch became erratic. Thankfully, Antec sent a new switch assembly promptly . . . BUT the dang thing isn't as easy to install as one might think. I have not had any problems with the power switch on my earlier machine ( in operation for 3 or 4 years ), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one.

3 out of 5 eggsReview after 3 years of use

Pros: very quiet, elegant design, roomy to work in with no sharp edges, and very, very sturdy, great ventilation, overall attention to quality and detail are great.

Cons: can't fault the case for not having USB 3.0 since it was designed in 2008, but would be nice for Antec to update. otherwise, the front power and reset buttons didn't seem to last too long for me and broke after about 2 years, but since it was under warranty, Antec replaced the front panel (albeit a different color since apparently they don't support the original panel anymore, even though they sell the case). also, the rubber feet should be hard plastic pressed into the case, the soft rubber feet that are glued on fall off to fast, and do not slide so if you are in a restricted space and can't pick up the case, it might be awkward moving it around.

Other Thoughts: overall good case, not perfect, but I've yet to see anyone match the sturdiness and quietness of this case.

4 out of 5 eggsGood case - needs USB 3.0 to be great

Pros: This is a solid, easy to work on case. I like it a LOT more than the Solo II. The four hard drive capacity makes it a business case. The reduced size may not fit your over-sized video card, et regular sized cards fit fine.

Cons: How can they sell this case in 2012 and NOT include USB 3.0?
I've reglued the "on" switch twice. Because it has broken twice. Antec support has promised to replace, but never sent the replacement parts after promising they would.

Other Thoughts: The tri-cool fan that comes with is quiet and works well.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Attractive
Panels are solid and well constructed
Good selection of front ports
Fairly quiet

Cons: Reset button suddenly snapped off after a few months (really irritating to happen after a BSOD, which was unrelated to the case)
Rear fan bearing started rattling at medium and high RPM settings after a year
Front double doors to reach the 3.5" drive bays are very awkward
Ventilation is poor

Other Thoughts: Han shot first.

Manufacturer Response:

While I agree that Han shot first, that's neither here nor there.

The issues you've experienced with your Solo chassis are absolutely something that would be covered by your warranty. Don't hesitate to contact us at

3 out of 5 eggsGood case but ...

Pros: I have owned this case for over 3 years. I like the subdued look. Not a gamer case, but suitable for a high end install. My configuration is an ATX board, AMD 955BE cpu, Antec TP 650 power supply, 8GB ram, 9800 GT video, SB PCI card, 2 sata HD, sata DVD burner, 3.5" card reader. I have 2 x 90mm fans in front, 1 x 120mm fan in rear. All on med speed. No heat issues.

Cons: Front bexel is CHEAP (see more on this below). Need alot of zip ties to rought cables.

Other Thoughts: My only valid complaint is with the front bezel. It will discolor after use, fingerprints seem to 'smudge' it and they don't go away with a simple cleaning. And you will need to handle the bezel, it must be removed to clean the fan filter. Also, the power/reset buttons suck. Right after the warrenty expired, my power button broke. Antec decided to use glue to seat the buttons. This eventually failed. I tried to re-glue it, nope! So, I inserted 2 small pieces of thin foam (the kind you usually get with motherboards to protect them) around the button hinges to prevent the button from turning (clockwise/counter-clockwise), and glued a spring into the button recess. Seems to work fine but in a $100 case the buttons shouldn't break with normal use. NOTE: For the spring, I used one from a windex bottle pump mechanism. The only downside, is I have to use my finger to make sure the spring seats over the blue power led when closing the case. This seems to work but come on Antec!

2 out of 5 eggsCan not replace power supply easily

Pros: I loved this case for 3 years. Solid, nice looking.

Cons: My power supply blew out today. I will have to remove the motherboard or take off the CPU heatsink in order to remove the power supply.

Other Thoughts: I have replaced 5-10 power supplies over the years and this is the first time I have ever encountered this issue.

3 out of 5 eggsGood case with some drawbacks

Pros: Beautiful yet simple look to the case. I really like the case outer design of this case.and how it doesn't look like a typical case. Quiet and keeps my stuff cool. Easy to clean the dust out because of the removable filter behind the front panel.
Quality - somewhat heavy.. but thick panels keeps things quiet.

Cons: Top heavy.. PSU mounts to the top. I think having a PSU being on the bottom is a much better design in terms of weight distribution and cooling.
I dont think its possible to fit in one of the largest video cards into this case without slight modification- this is the biggest drawback for me. The really long cards will hit into the area where the hard drives are stored. This limits my card options.
The harddrive mount system is kind of weird... they just sort of get "hung" in these elastic bands.. (to eliminate vibration) but moving the case from place to place, the harddrives can shift around. Also the bands that hold them in place stretch out over time.
