Meet the LanBoy Air. Nearly every part on this case, even the motherboard and PSU mounts, is modular and customizable. Up to 15 exhaust fans create positive air pressure inside the case that blows dust and heat out through panel perforations. Up front, the LanBoy Air's AirMounts HDD mounting system literally suspends drives in mid-air for unsurpassable vibration and noise resistance. Along with its two internal 2.5" SSD bays and a front-panel USB 3.0 port, the LanBoy Air is the last word in high-flexibility PC case design.

  • newegg Fully-modular Design What highlights the LanBoy Air is its modular design allowing highly customizable installation. Nearly every panel, including the motherboard tray and the power supply cage, can be removed and relocated to suit your needs.

2 out of 5 eggsgreat case

Pros: This is the best case i have owned sine my p180. Air flow is superb with 7 fans. Running full throttle cpu temp is only 46c my 670 only 73c. the case is so roomy you can get to all components with ease. To bad they discontinued it.

Cons: Well the same thing is happening to this case that happened to my p180 the power button is going out. and just like the p180 I cant get a power switch for it. The case is only 2yr's old.

Other Thoughts: Antec makes some of the best case's on the market I just wish they would keep a better pasts supply in reserve. We spend good money on their products They intern should supply us with replacement parts. I believe this is my last Antec case

Manufacturer Response:

Hi John,

We have the power button for the LanBoy right now. Please email us at VIP@antec.com if you still need it. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsModular or easy to mod?

Pros: If you are reading these reviews, you're likely doing the same thing I was: Looking for clues to the level of modularity this chassis is capable of. Personally, I have the Red/Black version, but they are all the same in form and function. I'm sure you could find any of the known colors of this chassis by alternative means if they are still not available here. Anyway, key points of modularity are:
1. PSU mounting can be swapped above or below the motherboard.
2. Front fans can be relocated up or down in one-bay increments.
3. Front rack can mount up to 12 drives, but at most three 5.25" drives unless you buy more brackets from Antec directly. They are very cheap though!
4. Front rack side panels are actually doors if you leave the screw off, this allows sideways mounted drives. Only a small handful of chassis offer sideways drive mounting, and only this one offers both.
5. Base of the front rack has two SSD mounts and comes with soft rubber supports and dedicated screws. SSDs will mount facing the front or back.

Now for liquid-cooling options:
1. Rear exhaust port offers plenty of room for almost any 120mm radiator, the only possible exception being the Black Ice GT Stealth X-Flow due to having fitting points on both ends. Mounting a radiator here means fittings on top.
2. Both front rack side panels have proper spacing for up to triple-120mm radiators if you carefully drill-out the fan mounts. From here you could achieve push-pull with even an AlphaCool Monsta 360mm rad. If those air-mount brackets are in the way, they are easily removed. I have measured it out and there is exactly 200mm of usable space between both side panels on the front rack. Push-pull with a Monsta is 130mm, so you have plenty of room left for either a short bay-res or a tall tube res. You have 430mm to work with vertically if you still want to mount SSDs in the bottom. Yes these panels are plastic, but I have weight-tested them and they will easily support such a beast radiator.

Imaginations and theory-crafting:
Since this chassis is Blue/Black, imagine an MSI GD80 board with Monsoon blue anodized fittings, and a blue fluid in clear tubing and clear tube res, along with blue LED BitFenix Spectre fans. Imagine being able to do the same in the other chassis colors. The Lanboy Air is easily one of the easiest chassis ever to mod into an epic liquid-cooled PC.

Cons: Now the bad. I'm going to be just as critical here as my other review so get ready:
1. Motherboard cannot be inverted to the left side, the rails the tray is on don't have mounting points there. I'm sure this could be modded in with a Dremel though.
2. The entire frame is riveted together. Without serious modding, you wouldn't be able to transform this chassis into a respectable desktop form-factor without just converting it into a make-shift testbench.
3. The right side panel behind the motherboard tray is see-through. You'll want to cement in some custom-shaped black acrylic to prevent seeing your horrible cable management.
4. Cable management will be horrible since you cannot pass cables through to the front rack without going around the inner frame bar, and there are so very few tie-down points and only 15mm of room to work with.
5. Forget the top fan mounting points. They do not exist. Please, just leave it at that and move on.
...
...
You're sure? Okay... The top is recessed into the chassis so it's either right up against the PSU or the motherboard depending on your orientation. The screw mounts are raised to where the entire panel should've been, which leads me to believe Antec ONLY intended that to be used for an external radiator. It's so tight, only 13mm fans will fit respectably well internally.
6. Three fans included have molex pass-through and a toggle switch for high/low. The front fans however have a three-speed dial glued into their respective mounts, and the fans themselves are held in with clips. Well done Antec! Exclusive mounting and aesthetic for only that particular fan. Well done!
...
Okay, maybe I'm being a bit more cynical this review, but just as critical as promised

Other Thoughts: I would like to point out that at the time of writing this, the Red/Black and pure Black versions of this chassis are unlisted on Newegg. If you'ld like to read my original review of the entire series, search the reviews for the one by the same nickname. It wasn't anywhere near as nice as this one due to lack of foresight in liquid-cooling options. For this reason, I am changing my original 3/5 rating to a solid 5/5 rating. It's easily one of the best chassis ever thanks to how little effort it would take to turn a Lanboy Air into an epic liquid-cooled PC. I must reiterate something in a positive tone:
Well done Antec! Well done!

4 out of 5 eggsReally Nice Case

Pros: Nice looking case overall. Removable motherboard tray. Allows for either top or bottom mount motherboard and PS. Provisions for mounting 2.5" SSD.

Cons: Not real crazy about the "air mount system" for the HDD(s).
Had to use the second and third bays for my optical drives as the front panel leads caused issues using the top bay. Don't care for the way the front panel USB cable is designed. Antec should provide the means to connect it to a header on the MB, instead of snaking it through the chassis to connect to the rear panel. Would've liked the option of 3 pin connectors for the fans.

Other Thoughts: Used this case for my first build in years. Overall everything worked out ok. The modular design of the case was an asset. There was plenty of room behind the motherboard tray for cable management. (I wish now I had sprung for a modular power supply.) As above, I don't care for the front panel USB cable and I am really leery of the air mount for the HDD. To an old timer like me, it just seems REALLY flimsy. Drive doesn't "hang" level regardless of what I do and you can see it through the side panel and although it might not affect the performance, it just looks cheap, for lack of a better term. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it although I might have made a different choice with what I know now. Just finished the build so time will tell.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Case but counterintuitive

Pros: Modular build and easy to put components in. Looks great.

Cons: This case was supposed to prevent dust buildup according to the video but it does exactly the opposite. Airmount system cables have started to sag after a year as other owners have said. Loved it at first but with these issues I can't recommend blowing $150 on it.

Other Thoughts: At least the dust is easy blown out with all the holes. I use the pump that blows my air mattress to clean it out from time to time.

5 out of 5 eggs+1 For the Modular feature.

Pros: Very open design and easy to relocate things to fit your needs. My nVidia GTX 680 BARELY fit but being able to move some fans around and change the design of the case I was able to make it work. Definately impressed by the modular feature and already getting compliments on the way the case looks.

Cons: Only thing I dislike about the case is the way my SSDs mounted in it. I just dont feel 100% comfortable with them sitting on the bottom of the case just above the ground. Maybe I mounted them wrong? Maybe I need to invest in a bracket? Not worth knocking an egg off as its really not even a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Awesome case, would recommend it in a second.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat case

Pros: Comes with 5 fans front two have a little non that can increase speeds. The other three have a high and low switch. It's very breathable have an all mesh case. The carrying handles come in handy when you need to move it so you don't have to hold it uncomfortably. The blue looks great and with the blue LEDs look even better with a dark room.

Cons: Only thing I would say is that the cable management is not as good as some other 150$ cases but you can still get it pretty well managed.

Other Thoughts: Overall great case comes with 5 fans and a max of 15 is awesome. And is compadiable with water cooling is a nice thing to have later on.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Case

Pros: Complete customization, "Automatic Dedusting", USB 3.0 Support, Carrying handles for mobility, Modular Design, Adequate Wire Management, Sturdy Steel Frame, Water Cooling Compatibility, Feels large for Mid-ATX / Could be ATX.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I actually got this case from a friend that was unable to use it for his board (HPTX) so he was looking for someone to buy it so I did since I had looked at the case a while ago and decided I wasn't going to get it, but when I heard about him having the case, I knew I wouldn't get another chance at a case of this great of a magnitude.

5 out of 5 eggsAntec Case

Pros: This case is awesome. Keeps great air flow. Easy to work with. Plenty of parts that came with the case. Love how you can customize the set up.

Cons: not so much a con, but its very breathable due to the mesh casing so would be careful with drinks or think about having it hidden away. Be careful if you have small children.

Other Thoughts: Love the look and I'm able to see the temp of the motherboard so need for a temperature gauge.

5 out of 5 eggsOver a Year Now

Pros: Solid, not a flimsy as it looks at first sight. It stands up nicely to multiple moves. (address changes)
Hard drive mounting system is still highly usable and secure and I use 5 drives in this setup.
Overall system cooling is very good and quiet when the appropriate thought goes into your build.
The ability to get at the back of the board easily is great, a removable MB tray is nice too.
Easily get to and work on most any part of this setup on the fly, especially hard drives.
I'm not one to normally go for lighted fans, but with the blue fans and the Scythe fan controller, it look quite slick and not overpoweringly bright in complete darkness.

Cons: The biggest con I have come across in over a year of owning this I would say, is the dust build up. You really need to get in there and clean it out every 6 months or so.
But if you build your own systems your gonna be doing this anyway.
More room at the inner top for 120mm case fan needed.
Front USB 3.0 port plugs into the back I/O area, I almost feel the need to cut the case wire b/c I have no use for it there.
Top handles are good but I'd use them as little as possible, they could be a bit sturdier.

Other Thoughts: I move frequently so I have packed/moved, and unpacked this in it's original box a few times now and it has stood up nicely. HD's remain secure in this bungee setup. Like I said in my prior review, the data and power cable also aid to stabalize the drives.
I'm utilizing 9 case fans@700-900 rpm and it's not very loud, but care must be taken in replacing fans as the mounts are plastic.
Fan control is a must foranything over 5 fans. I highly recommend a Scythe unit.
Cable management, like any other system. requires thoughtfulness, but is easily workable with all these fans and 7 hard drives. A modular PSU is a must.
Two fan push push/pull closed water cooling system fits nicely and continues to work well in this setup.
