Antec Performance One P180 Silver cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

  • 0.8mm cold rolled steel
  • 2x USB2.0, 2x Audio, 1x FW
  • 3x 120mm Fans
ICON Loading...

Engineered specifically for near-silent operation and optimum cooling, the Antec Performance P180 cabinet sets new standards in silent case design. Two separate chambers isolate the power supply and CPU into separate cooling zones with a maximum of five configurable fans. Cold rolled steel construction offers a solid base for busy components, minimizing “buzz” and vibration with silicone grommets on the attachments.

The sleek ATX mid tower is compatible with both Micro and Standard ATX motherboards. For further noise reduction, even when it’s holding its maximum eleven drives, the case has three-layer sound-deadening panels. To keep things cool during the hottest action, it has one 120mm Tricool fan at the rear with 3-speed control to synchronize quiet with cooling, and one 120mm TriCool Fan at the top.

The lower chamber also has another 120mm TriCool Fan. The drive bays include four external 5.25" bays, one external 3.5" bay, and six internal 3.5" bays. The front of the chassis has two USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire Port, and audio (I/O) ports, for convenient connectivity and performance.

  • newegg Revolutionary Breakthrough in Case Design The unique upper-and-lower chamber structure enables the power supply to reside in a separate cooling zone for exceptional heat dissipation and reduced system noise. The innovative three-layer side panels and front door (aluminum, plastic and aluminum) dampen system noise, making the Antec Performance P180 one of the quietest cases available.
  • newegg Excellent Expandability with 11 Drive Bays The Antec Performance P180 boasts four external 5.25" drive bays, one external and up to six internal 3.5” drive bays for superb expandability.
  • newegg Three 120mm TriCool Fans for Excellent Ventilation The Antec Performance P180 features three 120mm TriCool fans (at the rear, on the top and in the lower chamber) with a 3-speed control to achieve the optimum balance between quietness and cooling.
  • newegg Convenient Front I/O Panel The convenient front I/O panel enables easy access to two USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394 port and two audio ports.

2 out of 5 eggsWORST CASE

Pros: -Nice appearance
-Dust Filters

Cons: -Weighs a ridiculous amount
-3/4 fans went out within 6 months
-Front panel went out within 6 months as well

Other Thoughts: You can spend a nice amount on a case. When you spend 150.00+, you expect a darn good case. What I got was a heavy paper weight. Antec fans are horrible. Customer support is horrible. Could not even attempt to get a replacement as Antec never got back to me after trying to order a front panel for 6+ months. Don't buy into the 'hype'. Antec is garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Case I've Ever Owned

Pros: I've had this case since 2007 and still believe it's the best case I've ever owned. Operation is almost silent and the minimalist design (no ridiculous windows or blue LEDs) is perfect for those with taste. There is enough room for more hard drives than you will ever need.

Cons: - You will notice the weight of the steel, especially once all of your gear is inside.
- Cable management will require long PSU cables, especially for the 4/8 pin CPU power.
- Large video cards may run into the upper hard drive bay.

Other Thoughts: Original fans had bearing failure at about 3.5 years - replacement was easy since they are standard 120mm.

5 out of 5 eggsNearly 4 year owner

Pros: Excellent Case Design, simple to work on, great for people with OCD who want the case to have very few wires showing.

Cons: It is a bit heavy and I'm no muscle man. My house has a bit of dust so the front filters get dusty fast.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure why there are negative reviews on this case. Been running this computer since 2008 and it runs flawless. Case is silent with fans at low, temps are well below what I used to have. And it's built with quality I compare to a Mercedes-Benz. Possibly the later batches were of poor quality? The only defect I've found is that the magnet fell of the door, since it's not sealed like the other, it's just glued on. Big deal. Lock works, wires hide easily and if you research and have small hands this case is a dream to work with.

5 out of 5 eggsnear perfection

Pros: Minimalist exterior design (a huge pro, if that's your thing), generally thougtful design (in both form and function) inside and out, and effective noise dampening and dust filtering without anything excessive. The description, specs, and pictures here on Newegg deliver more specifics, but this thing is generally a joy to have and to muck around in.

Cons: It has no gamecube-handle for easy transport to LAN parties...?

More seriously, it's often deemed too big by the non-enthusiast crowd, and that may also be a consideration for LAN partiers and other enthusiasts. Fortunately, Antec and possibly others have some good alternatives. The only other one I've used is the discontinued (?) mini P180, which has some vent hole things on its front panel but is a miniature P180 in every other sense.

My only personal beef with this case is the vent guard up top. It looks okay but sticks up, somewhat diminishing the minimalist look, though it's also a nice accent. It can be removed if desired, but then it looks a little odd since the vent is slightly recessed. Ideally, I would replace the guard with a panel flush with the top of the case that leaves the wide-holed fan grill exposed. This is a very small beef, though.

Other Thoughts: I found this case about three years ago at Silent PC Review, and I still haven't seen anything better for my current needs and tastes. I'm pleased to see that Antec and Newegg are still selling it and a few more like it, such as the P280, another SPCR recommendation.

4 out of 5 eggsI own 2 of these things...

Pros: This case is relatively quiet, with great airflow. Well built for the most part.

Cons: The door 'lock' is absolutely terrible. There is a small plastic peg that protrudes with a metal washer that contacts a magnet in order to keep the door closed. The door works well enough, but for best airflow I leave my door wide open. This exposes the 'locking peg' the all sorts of dangers. I have broken the thing off on both of my cases. ... This is obviously avoidable if you put the case out of the way, but in my case it just doesn't work out well.

5 out of 5 eggsthe most durable, easy to work in case i've ever owned

Pros: I purchased this case in 2007, and have kept my gaming computer up to date in it since. It's so easy to work in, and it's incredibly durable. I've moved around a lot, and I never have to worry about my components being in danger because they're in a steel vault. I'll use this case until I stop buying ATX motherboards

Cons: It's incredibly heavy. You could easily injure your back picking this thing up the wrong way.

5 out of 5 eggsA Really Reliable Tower

Pros: It's Big, Provides Good airflow to top chamber (if you don't use DVD-ROM's, CD-RW's, ETC, You can add a 120MM fan in the Drive bays for 4 120MM fans in the top chamber), Somewhat okay cable management, Many 3.5" Drive bays, And so forth.

Cons: Cable management isn't really do-able unless you like to see your cables in the case itself, or have a huge bulge in the side of your back-panel.

Other Thoughts: This is the case to go if your doing an SLI-Setup, not Tri-SLI. This case is even better if you have silent, High RPM fans, because the directory of airflow is good.

I Highly recommend this case!

Pros: This my second one of these cases bought one when i built my computer 2 years ago and loved it. so i bought a new one when it was time to build a new PC. me buying the same case twice is a rarity.

Cons: needs a storage cubby for extra PSU cables.

Other Thoughts: Really great case. i actually paid more for it this time than when i first bought it 2 years ago.
