3 out of 5 eggsFront Audio Jack broke..

This review is from: Antec GX500 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Case is sturdy and light.

Cons: Front Audio jack broke; sunk in and no longer works.

The 2.5" drive bays gave me nightmares.

Other Thoughts: Wish I would have bought something else or that I could get this replaced. Not having a front audio jack is terrible these days.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Value

This review is from: Antec GX500 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Great Cooling, quiet fans included, lots of room, full size ASUS GTX 670 Fits, Full size EVGA PSU 850 fits, easy to hide cables with lots of tie down points, dust filters are easy to remove for cleaning. I paid 24.99 for this case and as far as I'm concerned was a great buy.. Newegg shipped it free and it arrived ahead of schedule. Thanks

Cons: lightweight metal construction easy to strip screw holes. BE CAREFUL.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure but it looks like a 240 AIO cooler might fit in top of case where the case already has 2 - 120 fans mounted?

3 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

This review is from: Antec GX500 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: The most obvious pro is the cost. It is overall a fairly well designed case for the price. One of my favorite features is the dust filter. You can remove it without even opening the computer.

Cons: My main complaint about this is that the rear brackets that hold the expansion cards (graphic cards, WiFi, etc) does not have a way of holding them tight. It is just thin plastic so you can't screw or lock them in like most cases. In this computer, the 2 slot graphic card is basically held in by the motherboard connector.

Other Thoughts: Unless you can't afford to spend $20 more dollars on a good case, this is not the best. However, it is pretty nice for the price. I always am very happy with cases in the $50-$60 price range though.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Case

This review is from: Antec GX500 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: (1) Nice looking
(2) Great price, $40 with a $15 rebate, end cost $25 ($30 see cons)
(3) Very light, could also be consider a con due to thin metal.
(4) Three fans, (2) top & (1) rear.
(5) Two top fan controllers
(6) Two Washable filters, front and PS
(7) Bottom PS placement

Cons: (1) No USB_3.0 to USB_2.0 breakout cable as shown in Newegg video, only USB 3 connector.
I had to purchase a USB3 to USB2 adaptor cable, cost $5.

(2)As noted before (thin metal) some standoffs may not tighten, I had one.

(3)Unable to secure Graphics card in place, thin metal causing I/O screw not to tighten.

(4)Power switch very easy to accidently depress, I already made that mistake.

(5)Hard Drives were impossible to mount with supplied rails. The right rails fit but the left ones were wrong as others had noted. I cut off a misplaced rail nub to get HD to slide in but then the HD would not go in far enough to allow the case side panel to go on. There are stops in the rear of the cage that MUST be flattened to allow the HD to go in further. I also ended up using HD rails from a previous case to achieve this task.

Other Thoughts: Overall I like the case. Don't let my cons deter you in buying this case. It is still an excellent buy. I assume most people had a USB_3.0 Motherboard because nobody complained about the lack of USB_2.0 support. Perhaps my case was a freak! It's always nice to know what problems might arise when doing an install.

2 out of 5 eggsIt is like 2004 slapped me in the face.

This review is from: Antec GX500 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Decent Case with some flaws. The price is your average low end case. Paint inside and out look good. Simple to open it up. For a home server is a little big but it will work for me.

Cons: 1. Front panel cables were a nightmare. Cables were wrapped from the top of the case to the back of the case then back into the case. The case has very little openings to put cables thru and I ended up breaking the fan control cables.
2. I would not consider this case a mid tower. There is barely enough room for a atx board. It does not have proper holes to pull cables in and out.
3. The ssd mount is a joke. Since the lip is rounded the cables would plug in I ended up leaving it in the air. The screw holes made it worse to try to plug cables in.

Other Thoughts: I know it is a cheap case and should not expect it to come with all the bells and whistles. I have build to many pc to count but working in this case reminded me why I quit building pc for people. Way to tight for cables and motherboard. I don't want to RMA it because to send a case back is to much of a hassle. I should have bought a little bit more expensive case.

5 out of 5 eggsnice for the price

This review is from: Antec GX500 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I was actually suprized by this case. it was light for its size but pretty solid, it come with washable filters on the front and bottom, plenty of room for the build I am doing with pretty good cable management. USB 3 and Fan controller room to plug in 2 more fans to the controller and room for 2 front fans. I love the ease of install for the HDDs and Optical drives. more than I expected with this case.

Cons: it is a bit light, and when in sleep mode the blue light flashes pretty bright and it is a long light that might bother some

Other Thoughts: got this case cause it was on sale for a high end gaming build for the cooling ability of this case. I was quite suprized with this case having as much more frills than I expected at this price point. the cable management is good and the removable washable filters are great as well with an awesome ease of use. I would recommend this case for a mid-high end gaming build. I do enjoy the way it is build and makes use of the tool less design

5 out of 5 eggsAntec GX500

This review is from: Antec GX500 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is an update from my last review . The ssd slot on this case is made with out flaws! I just put my ssd under where its suppose to go so now it will fit 2 ssd. The hole's match perfectly for my OCZ Ark 100 ssd. This case went together perfectly with the MSI Z97 gamer 5 motherboard . I mean prefect fit for the motherboard, all the motherboard holes matched the case holes .I've never had a motherboard fit so perfect in a case before like this one did . I had no problems with striped out holes . For the motherboard just use the small screws . Its not like others reviewing this case have said . I think its one of the best mid tower cases ie ever owned and iv owned a few. the other's I threw out when I was done with the this one Is a keeper for sure!

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Get it you wont regret it!
