Thermaltake's V9 is a solid, elegant case that combines style, function and performance. Part of the V9 series of mid-tower cases, it has plenty of room for expansion and tons of potential for modders. It holds up to four external 5.25" drives, two external 3.5" and five internal 3.5" drives – easily installed without tools.
Install up to 7 expansion cards as well – again without tools. Most standard ATX boards will install effortlessly thanks to standoffs built into the motherboard tray. The entire case is cooled by a pair of silent, blue LED 120mm fans which draw air through the metal grille front bezel and out through the rear of the case. Plus, huge dual 230mm fans are installed on the side panel and top to provide increased air flow.
A pair of easily-accessible USB 2.0 ports are located at the top of the front plate, along with HD audio input and output jacks. If additional cooling is needed, the case can also take a liquid cooling system.

Feels right.
- Pros: Sturdy metal case, airflow is intuitive, tool less design is nice. Button in the picture looked a bit iffy but it looks great now that its here.
- Cons: There was a tiny, dead, presumably chinese spider inside the case, that I thought was simply lint until further inspection. To the arachnaphobic: I sincerely doubt this will happen again.
- Other Thoughts: Get a PSU that has fans on the front and back, not top and bottom. If you do get one with fans top and bottom, there is a dust filter in place so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Top and back fans blow OUT, front and side suck IN.
Both sides come off but the right has a large sheet of metal covering most of it as soon as its off, making it somewhat useless.
Not much point to an all black inside without the clear side windows, but I'm not a big fan of clear side windows. Its not like this case needs any more big fans as it is anyway.
Nice case
- Pros: Nice Case, Good wire management, Bottom mount PSU placement, plenty of fans, plenty of dust filters, well designed, is quieter and cooler than the Lian Li case it replaced,
- Cons: No removable motherboard tray, had to make a modification to get my Thermaltake Cupholder to work with this case. (Yes an actual cup holder), no window to appreciate the black powdercoated interior.
- Other Thoughts: The toolless case design works perfectly with drives, but things like my cup holder that have a mounting style similar to a front panel thermometer because there are no proper screw mounts on the back side of the case. Oherwise I have to disagree with the comments saying that the toolless mounting system needs reinforcement from the available screw mounting my drives are firmly planted by the screwless mounting system. The mounting system may feel cheapish before you have a drive in it, but honestly once your drive is mounted it's not going anywhere. Despite the elaboration on the negative couple minor negative points I still don't think it's worth deducting an egg as I'm actually more happy with this case than I was with my older Lian Li case. May post a video review in the near future.

STAY AWAY!!
- Pros: UH, WELL, UMM.
- Cons: GOT THIS AS A COMBO WITH WD HARD DRIVE. HARD DRIVE WAS GREAT! WHEN I TURNED ON THE COMPUTER THE TOP FAN WAS HITTING THE TOP OF THE CASE. DID NOT EVEN WORK FROM THE START. I TRIED TO FIX IT BUT IS WAS TOO CHEAP. I REMOVED THE FAN AND THREW IT AWAY. THEN WHEN I WAS PUTTING IN THE HARD DRIVE I NOTICED THE HARD DRIVE CASING IS FACING THE SIDE OF THE CASE. THIS MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL A HARD DRIVE B/C THE CABLES WILL NOT ALLOW THE SIDE TO CLOSE B/C THEY ARE POKING OUT INSTEAD OF INSIDE THE CASE! I HAD TO INSTALL THE HD IN THE FLOPPY BAY. ALSO THE SCREWLESS IDEA DOES NOT WORK AT ALL! WHEN INSTALLING A VIDEO CARD I HAD TO REMOVE THE CLAMPS TO EVEN FIT IT IN THERE, AND DID NOT TRY TO PUT THEM BACK ON. ALSO THE SIDE DOOR IS VERY HARD TO SLIDE ON WHEN YOU TAKE IT OFF SO THIS MAKES YOU NOT EVEN WANT TO OPEN THE CASE ONCE YOU FINALLY GOT IT ON. VERY CHEAP METAL, VERY CHEAP PLASTIC, IF YOU TAP THE FRONT CD DRIVE HOLE BLOCKERS THEY FALL INTO THE CASE THEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BLAST GETTING 2 IT
- Other Thoughts: VERY CHEAP (NOT ON YOUR WALLET) SAD COPY OF THE ANTEC 900. JUST BUY THE ANTEC 900 FOR 100 AND YOU WILL NOT BE LET DOWN. I WAS GOING TO GET THE ANTEC 900 BUT SAW THE HARD DRIVE/CASE DEAL AND MAKE A BIG MISTAKE!
Good Case Overall
- Pros: Plenty of room (Enough clearance from the MB to the side 23cm fan to mount an AC Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2, and ample space from the back to the drive cage for a reasonably large GTS250). Toolless design works well for drive cage and bays. Excellent cooling and quiet fan operation (My 360 is louder by far).
- Cons: Back plates are a little flimsy as others have mentioned. If your prepared for this with a pair of wire snips you won't harm the case. PCI Slot protectors cannot be put back in (how much would this cost... really). Bottom mount PSU can cause problems with install if your PSU manufacturer skimped cable length. PSU has to mount fan down and the case has overly short legs so I wouldn't reccomend it on carpet. Overall nothing big enough to deduct an egg.
- Other Thoughts: It was less than a bill when I bought it. Barring any quick to occur problems with the case I would buy it again for a future build.
Thermaltake V9 Chassis
- Pros: Good concept for cooling.
- Cons: Received chassis with a slightly bent power supply section (bent inwards). The box was NOT bent but the sheet metal was which appears to be a mfg. problem. I did a little metal work to get it to fit. Also, configuration using straight leads to the drives in the respective bays must be reversed so they can be fit in properly. Tight fit.
