Thermaltake's V9 is a solid, elegant case that combines style, function and performance. Part of the V9 series of mid-tower cases, it has plenty of room for expansion and tons of potential for modders. It holds up to four external 5.25" drives, two external 3.5" and five internal 3.5" drives – easily installed without tools.

Install up to 7 expansion cards as well – again without tools. Most standard ATX boards will install effortlessly thanks to standoffs built into the motherboard tray. The entire case is cooled by a pair of silent, blue LED 120mm fans which draw air through the metal grille front bezel and out through the rear of the case. Plus, huge dual 230mm fans are installed on the side panel and top to provide increased air flow.

A pair of easily-accessible USB 2.0 ports are located at the top of the front plate, along with HD audio input and output jacks. If additional cooling is needed, the case can also take a liquid cooling system.

  • newegg Supreme Expandability with 11 Drive Bays Featuring four 5.25" external drive bays, and seven 3.5" drive bays (two external and five internal), the Thermaltake V9 Black Edition provides supreme expandability.
  • newegg Efficient Ventilation The Thermaltake Spedo VI90001N2Z features two oversized 230mm fans and two 120mm fans for efficient ventilation and effective system cooling.

3 out of 5 eggsThermaltake v9 Black Edition

Pros: Good cooling, easy installation and wiring.

Cons: Tool free design feels cheap and you have to be careful some over-sized graphics cards that require multiple card slots don't easily fit because of the tool free card design.

Other Thoughts: I bought this case for my i7-920, was having issues with my graphics card over heating during extended gameplay in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Case did the job lowering my GPU temps from 70-75c down to 50-60c. So if you're looking for a decent case with good air-flow this is it. On the other hand if you're looking for something with multiple expansion possibilities I would look somewhere else.

3 out of 5 eggsblack widow cases

Pros: Seems to keep my system cool.like the 230 mm fans. Also bougth this at best buy.

Cons: Had to mod the case to put in a cpu cooler and spectre pro 230 mm fan because of clearance issues.I cut the whole side panel put in a side window and cut a hole for the fan to fit. Also couldnt use the other 230 fan i bougth because only the stock one fits in the top.so hopefully that dosent go bad either.Found that the tooless parts break easy.

Other Thoughts: Not really a bad cases over all.Just needs some mods to be better.

2 out of 5 eggsJust Don't.

Pros: Great air flow, architecture, and look.

Cons: Very poor quality. Had a couple of pieces just waiting to snap off upon my first inspection. Then I read the horror stories with the fans.

Other Thoughts: I bought this from Best Buy because of my employee discount (I'm a Geek Squad agent). I loved the concept of air flow and the internals... But when I unboxed it, I realized that it was all cheaply made, and even had a piece on the verge of falling off. Then I heard about the fans going bad after a matter of weeks. I returned it and ordered the Cooler Master Storm Enforcer for $75, which is $10 cheaper than what I paid for this one with my employee discount. Do yourself a favor and and look into an Antec, Corsair, or Cooler Master. Particularly, of course, the Cooler Master Storm series.

3 out of 5 eggsNice but top fan rattles out of control

Pros: Excellent accomodation for extra drives; mine running 4 drives and dual blue ray players

Cons: Top fan began to rattle out of control after 5 months. Noticed the fan started striking its own supports which is why I gave it 3 eggs, shouldn't have to go back and replace fan. Lost one support, fan obviously rides up under extreme use and sounds like deathcom 3 going into alert mode.

Other Thoughts: excellent case just wish they put more thought into quality fans.

2 out of 5 eggsOverpriced Junk

Pros: Lots of room for drives and power supplies as well as the graphics card...

Cons: however it to ally lacks in longevity. The Top and side case fans are horrible wastes of plastic that have now failed for the fourth time for me. For someone who overclocks their CPU with an air cooled set up this is not good. My computer is left with the front and rear case fans.

Those oversized fans can't be ordered via normal means either. Not good at all.

The case doesn't provide very good routing for wires either though I have seen worse.

Other Thoughts: After dealing with Thermaltake's RMA process three times already to get the fans replaced (the only reason I'm giving this case two eggs) is the only nice part here. It's unlikely I'll buy from Thermaltake again.

5 out of 5 eggsClassic Luck of the Draw Scenario

Pros: It holds everything as it should. The fans (more on this later) do pump air in/out dang well. The red LED front fan is a nice touch especially at night. Even "stole" an Antec move and put the PSU on the bottom of the case making cable management pretty easy.

Cons: Okay...2 things.
One, the toolless design. For me, the DVD-RW and the HDDs went in fine. The PCI-e/PCI part though does suck.
Two, make sure you keep it cleaned 'cause it will gather a fair amount of dust.

Other Thoughts: I've had this case for about 8 mos. now. The fans haven't made any noise or died. Just like the title said...classic luck of the draw. It's roomy for a mid tower and is worth a look. Don't let one person's bad mojo ruin yours.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid case

Pros: Very sturdy case, a lot of fans to keep the whole system cool.

Cons: I couldnt keep my side fan because of the oversized cpu cooler (thermaltake Frio)

3 out of 5 eggsA little Cheap

Pros: Case kept my components cool and is pretty spacious for a mATX configuration.

MSI x58m
Core i7 930
Gskill Ripjaws 24gb 1066
GTX550 (fermi) 2gb x2 sli

Cons: Cheap plastic tool-less design. love the case but get rid of the plastic components.

Other Thoughts: I have used thermaltake cases for five years and this is my first disappointment. I am grateful I'm water-cooling this for a on-the-road LAN box.

1 out of 5 eggsPLEASE! Do not buy this case

Pros: It holds your computer parts and big video cards fit inside.

Cons: First time I fired up my build the top fan started banging on itself, scared the heck out of me then shot off some plastic and died. So i bought 2 COOLER MASTER Megaflow 200 R4-LUS-07AR-GP 200mm Red LED Case Fan, too thick to use as a top fan so I installed the door one in the top and one of those on the door. As soon as i turned it on it started hitting itself again so I shut it off and just unplugged it before I killed a 2nd fan.

Other Thoughts: I just did a new build with a COOLER MASTER Storm Scout, I would recommend it over this case.
