Thermaltake's V9 is a solid, elegant case that combines style, function and performance. Part of the V9 series of mid-tower cases, it has plenty of room for expansion and tons of potential for modders. It holds up to four external 5.25" drives, two external 3.5" and five internal 3.5" drives – easily installed without tools.
Install up to 7 expansion cards as well – again without tools. Most standard ATX boards will install effortlessly thanks to standoffs built into the motherboard tray. The entire case is cooled by a pair of silent, blue LED 120mm fans which draw air through the metal grille front bezel and out through the rear of the case. Plus, huge dual 230mm fans are installed on the side panel and top to provide increased air flow.
A pair of easily-accessible USB 2.0 ports are located at the top of the front plate, along with HD audio input and output jacks. If additional cooling is needed, the case can also take a liquid cooling system.

Feels right.
- Pros: Sturdy metal case, airflow is intuitive, tool less design is nice. Button in the picture looked a bit iffy but it looks great now that its here.
- Cons: There was a tiny, dead, presumably chinese spider inside the case, that I thought was simply lint until further inspection. To the arachnaphobic: I sincerely doubt this will happen again.
- Other Thoughts: Get a PSU that has fans on the front and back, not top and bottom. If you do get one with fans top and bottom, there is a dust filter in place so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Top and back fans blow OUT, front and side suck IN.
Both sides come off but the right has a large sheet of metal covering most of it as soon as its off, making it somewhat useless.
Not much point to an all black inside without the clear side windows, but I'm not a big fan of clear side windows. Its not like this case needs any more big fans as it is anyway.
Nice case
- Pros: Nice Case, Good wire management, Bottom mount PSU placement, plenty of fans, plenty of dust filters, well designed, is quieter and cooler than the Lian Li case it replaced,
- Cons: No removable motherboard tray, had to make a modification to get my Thermaltake Cupholder to work with this case. (Yes an actual cup holder), no window to appreciate the black powdercoated interior.
- Other Thoughts: The toolless case design works perfectly with drives, but things like my cup holder that have a mounting style similar to a front panel thermometer because there are no proper screw mounts on the back side of the case. Oherwise I have to disagree with the comments saying that the toolless mounting system needs reinforcement from the available screw mounting my drives are firmly planted by the screwless mounting system. The mounting system may feel cheapish before you have a drive in it, but honestly once your drive is mounted it's not going anywhere. Despite the elaboration on the negative couple minor negative points I still don't think it's worth deducting an egg as I'm actually more happy with this case than I was with my older Lian Li case. May post a video review in the near future.

Worst Case
- Pros: The Fans do produce a good amount of airflow, but are noisy and very cheaply made.( I broke one of the fan fins by touching it.) It looks nice, almost like an antec 900 close. Decent amount of room inside of the case, but not many places to hide wires.
- Cons: Besides whats listed above not much else nice can be said about the case.
1) the hard drive bay is to close to the side and will not allow for a hard drive to be installed. The sata cable or molex for ide will get in the way of the case closing. Like others have said I also had to use the floppy bay. 2) The metal is extremely cheap, Countless times I felt like I was going to some how break the case. The front also feels like its going to break off. Huge complaint for me is the back for the expansion cards. They use a terrible tooless system and break away metal pieces for the slot covers, only problem is you cant put the metal back in when you done leaving the case open for dirt and air to come in. Over all would not recommend this case to any one
- Other Thoughts: Just to give a background on myself so you can trust my review. I work at a school district as a network technician and have many years expirence building computers. I have built hundreds of machines ranging anywhere from extreme gaming to a 250 budget machines. I tried out a thermaltake case because of there reputation for great cpu coolers so I thought I would give there case a try....well that will never happen again.
WOW ~!! this is the worst !!
- Pros: looks OK. has nice ventilation. but that is it.
- Cons: makes terrible noise. the big fan on the top is hitting something making noise and dust gets in really easily.
the panel is so flimsy that I need 2 people to close it.
DON'T BUY IT !!
I Sent It Back
- Pros: Looked good, decent price.
Liked the air flow design with the large fans on top and side. All back interior is nice.
- Cons: 1. Rear 120mm fan was DOA
2. FLIMSY METAL, have to break out the exapansion slots and bending the metal around them is easy. I bent the side cover with the fan in it taking it off the first time. 3. Tool free design is not very good. The expansion slot design is terrible, from having to break out the covers, to the mount not holding a video card any better than nothing being there at all. The HDD bays work, and the 5.25 bays work.
- Other Thoughts: Had to return this case because of a fan that was DOA, decided to go with a different case because the price was very close and the quality/ design is a lot better. This case would have kept me happy I suppose. If I hadn't had to send the whole thing back for the fan, I never would have looked at anything else. Do yourself a favor and look at all the options and don't be afraid to spend another $10 for something that would be better.
I thought sending a whole case back for a broken fan was a little bit much, having to tear an entire build apart and put it back together, but everything worked out for the better and they were great about helping me like they always are.
