4 out of 5 eggsThermaltake V9

Pros: ~Smaller than it looks but still plenty of room inside
~plenty of fans
~Windowed.
~Solid metal construction is a plus, often found that cases are advertised as solid but come with plastic front panels etc. This one is not.
~Fits multiple form factors. Originally had a micro atx board in this, fit perfectly. Upgraded to a better atx and it fits as well.

Cons: The dock system for the drives is great, but the lock itself is flimsy, I broke one trying to get it to lock the first time I put a drive in it. Other than that, don't expect to hide thick cords along the non-windowed side panel. There's not enough room there for that, but if you have flat wires or small ones it works fine.

Other Thoughts: I love this case, its served me well. I'm letting my bf borrow it for a while while I upgrade my desktop once again and he is using the top sata drive ports. I had no real use for them, but he seems to like it, and as far as I know the only issue we had was the aforementioned docking bay lock. That's really the only reason it has 4 out of five eggs.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome case

Pros: Great case, easy access (I have big hands I'm 6'8), the factory fans are a bit loud, kinda sounds like a jet engine taking off but it keeps everything nice and cool

Cons: front lighted fan burnt out in about a year but they are pretty cheap to replace and the case is easy to take apart

Other Thoughts: If you are a first time builder this is 100% for you and I would highly recommend it for the price and features.

Also I modified mine a bit, I installed the DVD burner in the bottom bay and got a fan bracket to take up the top 3 slots, there was just enough room to put a fan there even though the top slot has all the 3.5 bays behind it and it provided me with a few degrees lower on my CPU temp

4 out of 5 eggsA real steal

Pros: CHEAP. I do not think they make this model anymore. If you can find one like it, in my opinion, it is a great buy. Additionally, this model has dual bay docking design that allows you to swap 3.5" or 2.5" SATA drives.

Cons: To remove expansion card slot covers, you have to break them off the rest of the case. If you do this while the motherboard is installed, you run the risk or damaging the motherboard by accidentally scratching off a trace. I strongly recommend EXTREME CARE when doing this, or otherwise you will regret it. TRUST ME, I ALMOST DID JUST THAT. The best thing to do is to be safe and remove the motherboard first. This is a big pain in the a-s-s, but, it is better to be safe than sorry.

2 out of 5 eggsThat fan...

Pros: Stayed cool and held up for about a year and a half with no problems.

Cons: The top fan fell out of place after about a year and half of casual gaming. The top case is absolute hell to take apart to attempt to do anything with the fan. The screws attaching the top are poorly placed, and the clips that held the top broke easily.

Other Thoughts: MY fan may have simply been faulty, but from some of the reviews I've read this seems to be a rather common occurrence. I do not reccomend buying this case unless you like a challenge. I for one was not happy to try turning on my computer only to find that the fan had dropped out of place. Unlikely that I'll buy another thermaltake case.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Jeanie,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We can replace that top panel fan through warranty service. Please contact our customer service team for RMA instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsBeast of a case

Pros: Got this case in November 2010 for my first PC I built myself. This thing is monstrous, lots of air flow and room to work with inside. The design looks really nice and it's easy to figure everything out on the inside.

Cons: While the front fan moves air like a champ, the top fan is pretty lackluster for its size. I didn't custom set the rpm of the fan, so that's just on normal settings. The only other thing I didn't like was the thin pieces of metal on the back of the case near the PCI slots on most motherboards. These are a pain and I accidentally broke one of the little red locking tabs getting my wireless card to set.

Other Thoughts: This case is a really good value, I'm very satisfied.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST CASE

Pros: when you drive a car you have many things that come at you at various times this case can be equated to that. I love the two case mounted Say Tah (SATA) drive bays on the top as I do not have any hard drives inside the case (2 X 240 SSD & 1TB platter);no need. The ability to switch hard drives at will or plug one in for back up or transfer is quite phenominal and is an awesome idea long due. I am only using two of the 4 front 5.25" bays (3 usable); it would have been better if a 5.25* card reader had room to be installed on top.

Cons: The Expansion slots in the back are great just remove the tin can alley plastic chrome plated woopie wouser red and black securing strip and go with screws; it took me all of 60 seconds to figure that one out amazing poor quality there, I broke the first one just opening and closing it to see how it worked. I installed the go-flex bay in the top slot (3.5") so case is the same as the other V9 case; in the bottom slot I installed a card reader with a spare USB 3. For me it would have been better if the two top mounted drive bays had (SATA) power connecters rather than molex. I replaced the back as well as the front 120mm fan with one(rosewill) that has a plug that will plug into the motherboard and allow regulating and monitoring .

Other Thoughts: I installed another Say Tah (SATA) drive bay in the front the star.tec duel so I have places for 3 x 2.5" hard drives or 3 x 3.5" hard drives the star.tec accepting 2 by it's self for a total of 4 hard drives access ports. Along with the go-flex 2.5" drive bay that makes 5 back up hard drives that I can use with this system. Since I have no hard drives in the bottom below the 2.5" bays per another commenter dna to me. Top 230 mm fan is quiet and circulates copious amounts of air the case is always cold to the touch. VERY GOOD CASE my first choise for fuctionality. I got it on sale @Newegg $49.99

4 out of 5 eggsGood looking case

Pros: good looking case! dock system is awesome, no screw hardware placement is a great idea, nice sleek design with side pannel window. huge exhaust fan on top.

Cons: back window for installing watercooler on the mobo is too small for a wide variety of mobo design. could use more space. plastick locks are to fragile. they snapped after few attempts to install a vcard. the sliding slot for videocards next to the red locking mechanism prevents you from installing vcards smoothly. ( i had to chip off a little) first slot for dvd drive not accessible. price to pay for mount on top. top plastic coverhead can break easily if not carefull carrying the case. no wire management considering a wider type of case. still manage to work it at the back tho. with some challenges. and i do love challenges. its not rubber base stand. slides too easy on smooth surfaces. cant install a rectagular radiator for cooling. i could only put a single slot type of radiator. facing the back. dust build up fast - wide holes on side pannel. locking mechanism cant really hold gfx up and steady. should have came with some fillers for the back slots.

Other Thoughts: i still love the case regardless. but you really need to be extra careful with handling the case in and out. took out one egg for some disappointments. but thats not newegg's fault. the case needs rework done by the manufacturer thats all. nevertheless good looking case. bumped it up with red logisys light at the base of my psu. and a cathode on top beside the huge fan. looks awesome in theme red. wish i could post a picture. lol. happy egghunting

3 out of 5 eggsCould have been better!

Pros: Roomy for a mid-tower case and luv the 2x external Sata drive docks on top. Air movement through the case is very good.

Cons: After only two months of use the large 8" fan on top has quit working. Too bad as this will certianly discurage me from purchase a Thermaltake case in the future. I am also dinging them for the terrible way in which the drives are mounted. You cannot remove drives without taking BOTH sides doors off this case. Very poor design.

Other Thoughts: All in all it is an ok case, however, would I purchase another? Nope!

4 out of 5 eggsI love this case!

Pros: I LOVE the external SATA drive bays on top - not just for hot swapping, but for configuring HD and SSDs prior to install. The USB3 is a nice touch, and there is plenty of cooling options. A bit cramped inside, but still fits my massive Hyper 212 CPU fan/cooler and my long video card - but just barely.

Cons: For a mid towwer, a bit cramped inside. My 230mm fan on top started making noise a month or so after my build. Thermaltake claims to have "the best" return policy, which means if you keep all your receipts, and are willing to endure their "3rd ring of hell" customer support system, you will eventually (at your own mailing expense) get a replacement part.

Other Thoughts: I have SIX internal drives - two SSDs, Two HDDs, and Two Optical drives - They all install and work with plenty of room. The external drive bays take an additional two SATA ports on my Motherboard, but hey, like others have said, the ability to have an External Drive able to be configured like an internal with hot swapping is worth replacing the "short lived and cheap" case fans even if they die prematurely.
