4 out of 5 eggssolid, if showing the age.

This review is from: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Case has tons of room
Solid amount of ports on the front.
included fans run near silent
Got it cheap for a full case.
LEDs are bright enough to be colorful without being obnoxious at night time.
Cable management has plenty of room

Cons: It's a bit old. The case itself had likely been sitting a long while, so I had to give it a bit of TLC in the cleaning department before I felt okay putting parts in it. That's about it, honestly.

Other Thoughts: The included fans/front ports had the standard bright red and yellow cables, which tends to throw off the black/blue aesthetic a bit, but they're easy enough to hide.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Damaged on arrival. Cheap plastic covers that will not stand up to use, and non-standard screw threads that made mounting the motherboard a pain.

Other Thoughts: Would not buy again.

2 out of 5 eggsEdited after one week.........Great Case For My Rig, except......

This review is from: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Room. The case is a full ATX with lots of room for my rig which includes an ASRock mb, an older H50 water cooler and a 7870 video card. I have added two 200mm chasis fans, one on the side door and one on top as the exhaust fan for the H50 radiator in a push/pull configuration bring me to four 200mm fans and three 140mm fans. Cable management is really nice with plenty of grommets for routing from the psu as well as the header unit on top of the case (hot swap, usb, etc...).
- Easy Access Features. This case is a far cry from the old days of broken fingernails and never-will-go-back-in-like-they-came-out hidden tabs. The two side panels come off and reattach easily with large thumb screws (two each). The side panel can accept an extra chasis fan with the removal of four plastic buttons which pop right out and are replaced with torq screws. The top of the case is taken off from back to front with little effort and reattaches securely and with just as little effort. There is a plug for the header unit to the case top which unplugs and replugs easily. The front pops off and attaches, again, easily. Talk about redundant.
- Hot Swap Dock. I was delighted to find a hot swap dock included in the features. There's a pro for it being part of the case, but there is also a con...
- Tool-less Drive Bays. Love them. 5.25" drives pop in and out effortlessly. 3.5" and 2.5" drives screw/slide in and have super convenient sata connections on the left side of the case. Sweet.
- Price. What can I say? If they actually get my rebate back to me, the price was right and I have plenty of room for upgrading my graphics and cooling system in the near future.
Overall I really like the case. Two small cons which I must mention.

Cons: - USB 3.0 ports. Love the fact that they are part of the case's front header. Hate the fact that they are uber-glitchy. I'm thinking it may be the cable and will have to spend some more time tracking this down. I can plug my externals to the USB 2.0 ports and connect every time. The 3.0 ports, not so much. In fact, they are more miss than hit which is really bad juju for me since I keep all of my data on an external drive connected to these front usb ports, preferably 3.0 for the data speed. If it glitches and goes wonky on me during a transfer.....yeah. This is the con that knocks an egg off the case. There's never any reason for glitchy usb ports
- Position of the header. This is where the con for the hot swap dock comes in. I personally keep my case inside of the desk computer "cubby". Whatever. There's enough airflow that I never have any cooling issues, but the dock and the header being at the top of the case instead of in the front are inconvenient for me. I knew this when I bought it so I'm not docking an egg for it, but it means I may have to go with an add-on header unit.

Other Thoughts: - I had to bring the rating from 4 eggs down to 2 for the following reason: Everything was good after the first go around. However, I upgraded my cpu/cooler and while installing the radiator to the top of the case three things have occurred; 1.) One of the wires to the molex connector that powers the power/reset switches popped out I guess when the last pin of the connector came sliding out. I taped that back in (I don't have micro electronic repair gear) and after getting everything hooked up.....dead. No power. 2.) So, looking underneath the top cover I see that the blue wire for the power switch has come loose. Again, I don't have the gear to fix this type of problem at my house. So I do the next best thing. I say no biggie and pin the reset switch to the power pin on the motherboard. It works......until 3.) It doesn't work. Now even that doesn't give me any power to the motherboard. It appears that the wires to the switch are still attached, but I honestly can't tell what's going on underneath that huge glob of silicone. On a side note: I tested the motherboard with another case and I tested THAT motherboard with this case to make sure it was the switches and not pins or some other issue with the motherboard. It's not. Contacted Thermaltake after the power switch wire popped loose but have not heard back. So, poor quality on the usb ports, the power and reset switches and the molex connector for the power/reset switches. Too bad because otherwise I like the case.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible build quality

This review is from: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Roomy, steel sides, lots of fans.

Cons: Terrible build quality. The wires connecting to my power button came loose after I took the computer apart to clean it and put a new component in. HDD Light came broken.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
The front panel connections are attached to an extension. If the top panel was removed swiftly, yes, it can sever the connection.
We can replace the front panel connections through our warranty service. Please contact Customer Support to obtain RMA instructions.

4 out of 5 eggsVery large and roomy, with space to hide cords

This review is from: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Nice and roomy with two large built in fans.
A place behind the motherboard to hide the cords, which is super awesome.
There's several drawers for multiple drives, and they slide out real easily.

Cons: Didn't realize how big it would be.
One of the images looked like one of the side panels was on hinges, but was not.

Other Thoughts: Somewhere along the way in delivery, someone allowed the box to get soaked in the rain. Luckily, the case was wrapped in a bag inside the box, but the box was completely drenched.

4 out of 5 eggsGood features but the case is a bit old and dated

This review is from: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: I'll admit I just got this case because it was on sale and had a $30 rebate: it was tough to pass on it. But I researched it a bit and found this case is five (5) years old and it shows. I checked the 2016 offerings (hold over's from 2015 also) from other manufacturing and Thermaltake and feature for feature: leaves this case wanting in 2016. Still, what is there...is okay to this day.

Cons: Being around for so long is a testament to it's build quality and the materials used in construction but I find it impossible to recommend the case at its still 2011 list price of $129.99. Far too many updates and improvements to case design and features to look this far back in time. (Add) I found the case wanting. Little things for a $129.99 should be: All thumb-screws are so short. About two (2) threads holding is it and when I removed the 4 screws off the side panels, I couldn't get the panels back on without a ton of effort. I had standard length black thumb-screws and replaced those 4 screw. Had 5 treads to work with and worked great. The panel themselves would not properly fit which is another issue. Acted like the panels were 3/16 inch to long and won't fit flush on the rear and the mounting holes. The rubber grommets for the pass-through hole were the thinnest I've ever used. Overall I like the case but can find short cuts to save a penny or two.

Other Thoughts: To keep the model/name current, they need up the engineering and feature set to make it work in 2016. Thermaltake....please clear out the warehouse and reintroduce the Overseer as a version 2. We'll all benefit with a new and better computer case.
