3 out of 5 eggsAlright Case

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Its a nice looking case with a cool looking window over all the only real good thing about this case is its nice looks.

Cons: - there Isn't really enough room to run cables behind.
- its not really big enough for water cooling im running a crosair h80i and it wont mount on the top since it wont clear the ram and the 120mm fan i have barely clears it, currently its mounted on the bottom with the tubes running over my gpu.
- Currently running a gtx 660 SC and with 24pin connector running behind it and other stuff like the sata to the optical drive etc etc stuff like that anything longer then that isnt that viable.
- the front fan mount is, well pretty stupid and not really a mounting spot and require some vodo magic tiny screw driver to actually mount..
- for the top fan mounts one of the slots has specific wholes for the screws while one of them doesn't (really tte?).
- theres really not any room to SLI or cross fire anything if have hats off to you.

Other Thoughts: over all this would be an okay case if you dont plan on water cooling, but lets face it everyone wants to do that at some point, in all honesty i would go to another case maybe the Thermaltake Versa would be a more viable option and for 20 dollars more it would be worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsnot bad. could be better.

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: cheap, good looking, good cooling, quiet, sturdy.

Cons: not enough room behind motherboard tray to run cables effectively.
not enough space above the motherboard to actually mount top fans. there is about a half inch of space from the edge of the motherboard and the top of the case, and if any components or heat sinks on the board stand up higher than 3/4 of a inch they will get in the way of the fans. this could of easily been prevented by thermaltake, there is enough space to have the fan locations an entire inch closer to the door. they could of also made the entire top of the case a metal mesh and fit 3 fans.
the paint is easy to chip off. i made the mistake of laying this tower on its side on top of my computer desk. when i moved it the edge of the desk took the paint right off.

Other Thoughts: great beginner or budget case. case material is Steel.. SECC means Steel, Electro-galvanized, ColdRolled, Coil. so its basically a thin sheet of metal which was stamped to shape. the front of the case is plastic, and they did that part right. its made well, doesn't seem flimsy or easy to break. bought it elsewhere last black friday, i use it for one of my spare computers, and have no complaints.

4 out of 5 eggsEhhhhh

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: It is a good case for the aspiring builder on a budget. Its sturdy as long as you dont go play basketball with it or something. its a sturdy form of aluminum.

Cons: The cable management routing for this case is almost impossible to make it look really professional without hours and hours of work and sleeved extensions but if you do that it would not fit. Also if you put an ATX mobo in the case the top case fans will not fit.

Other Thoughts: For $50 its not a bad case. It even has multiple places for SSD. So if youre a cheap builder on a budget definitely go for this case.

3 out of 5 eggsA little more function, a little less form

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -This case appeals to my minimalist side
-Manages to look good
-Fits my 212 Evo no problem
-Keeps my FX 6300 decently cooled

Cons: -I was a little irked with the fan mounts. Its an impossibility for me to mount the two top fans. One hits the ram, the other hits the the fan pin connectors. The bottom intake fan mount is made useless by my PSU and the side mount by my video card.

- Cable management in this case is not the easiest. I bought a semi modular power supply and for this case? Big mistake.

-The one included case fan is terrible.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad case for under 50$, it was a cheap home for my build.

To get around the clearance issues I bought two 120x12mm fans to mount at the top.

3 out of 5 eggsLooks good on the outside

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is the first case I bought when I wanted to make my own PC, but after owning it for a while I wish I had bought another one.

Pros:
Fairly inexpensive
Really nice outside looks
Can mount 2 additional fans (bottom and front)
Has room for a 212 EVO
Can fit more than I expected in it with room to spare

Cons: Unfortunately the case has a lot of problems.

Cons:
The front panel audio/usb PCB is awful. There is a lot of interference caused by grounding issues between the USB 2.0 port and the audio ports. No matter what I did in my attempts to fix the interference could that be fixed. I ended up just unplugging the USB 2.0 cord from my mobo.

The removable plastic front panel of the case is a different white than the metal part of the case, and the metal is only becoming more off white as time moves on.

The space/holes in the back for cable management is almost nonexistent. I have to squeeze the back panel on at this point if I want to have it fit.

The top fan mount is ridiculously placed. There is literally no room for a fan if you want to have a motherboard inside the case (you probably do) because they gave the top of the case almost no offset from the top of the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: If you absolutely adore the outside looks of this case then it isn't a horrible option, but for just a little more you can get cases with proper front panel PCB's and fan mounting spots that actually make sense.

5 out of 5 eggsNice case

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I really like this case, you can fit more in this small case than you think, and the air flow is good with just 3 fans(140mm x1 and 2 120mm x2), solid case for the price.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsI hate that I love this case so much

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -Looks awesome
-great cooling (once you screw the top fans into the grate cause the mobo wont allow them to fit in the designated spot)
-Able to fit a large cooler and 2 larger graphics cards

Cons: -Top Fans hit my mobo
-Always had problems with the front USB ports
-One of the clips that hold the front panel on broke
-Pretty bad cable management

Other Thoughts: Even with all the Cons some how I still love this case. I use this case with a gaming set up, larger cooler master cooler, SLI gtx 660, 2ssd, and 2 normal hard drives, and it stays cool like a champ. It took a little work but I worked the top fans in my screwing them into the fan grate rather than the normal screw holes since it hits the mobo. 2 fans on the front and the stock fan in the back keeps everything nice and cool even with 2 large video cards. Cabling is a nightmare but is workable if you have a modular power supply. I am very happy with the cooling and the looks for the price but if you have the money go with something a little higher end.

3 out of 5 eggsLooks great/Not effective

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I saw this case in high school and thought it was the coolest case I'd ever seen. Sleek and minimalist with just the right sheen to it. Worked great for a long time. Then I had to look at cooling options...

Cons: Never ever thought I'd have cooling issues with my computer ever. This case taught me to make sure I don't just go for looks next time... CPU starts to get super hot and I need to find a good secondary cooling option for the chip. Liquid cooling? Very hit or miss. Depends on so many factors. Not to mention if you do get your cooler and it doesn't fit, sending it back is even more of a hassle than trying to fit it in the first place. For the most part people stick to air-based coolers but even those aren't super effective.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a neat case and you have the money to dole out on 3 extra 120mm fans then yes this case is great. Otherwise, especially if you plan to OC, I highly suggest you stay away from this case. The lack of performance isn't worth the looks and I learned that a year too late.

2 out of 5 eggsNo room for fans!

This review is from: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Looks nice and the price is very affordable. Thermaltake has always been a nice builder!

Cons: I bought this case because it looked great and was a Thermaltake. Once I started my build I noticed that the bottom fan would not be able to be installed because my power supply was too big. Then I installed my Motherboard and noticed that the top 2 fans could not be used either because the motherboard was in the way. Neither location had enough clearance for the fans needed to keep a 6 core CPU with proper air flow. Water cooling only for this case.
