3 out of 5 eggsSome of the slowest shipping ever

Pros: I'm sure this case will be great and serve it's purpose whenever I get it.

Cons: Some of the slowest shipping I've ever had. I ordered the case a few days ago and they created a shipping lable so far and that's it. I ordered some other things with the Super Egg Saver and they got here with in 2 - 5 days.

Other Thoughts: Send my stuff out, please!

4 out of 5 eggsGood case

Pros: Lots of room
Hidden cable management area
Rubber padding for PSU isolation
Filter for PSU intake and front intake
Removeable drive bays.

Cons: Specs state that a 200mm top fan will fit, I had to squeeze one in, and even then only able to put in two screws. Any more and the fan would be distorted and block the blades from moving.
There is no filter for the optional 120mm bottom fan, and the odd shape of the spot makes it hard for a standard filter to be placed. I even wasn't able to find a filter from thermaltake that fits.

Other Thoughts: If you have a long GPU and more that 3 hard drives, I would suggest to not get this case and go with a full size tower. I put a Sapphire 290 Tri-X in with plenty of room, but I had to remove the middle drive bay to give room. Even if it didn't have the extra long heat sink, the PCB would be nearly rubbing the drive bay.
Overall, it's a good case, just be careful if you're planning for a long card.

3 out of 5 eggsFront Panel Issues

Pros: Good build quality, roomy case, plenty of fan positions. I love nearly everything about this case.

Cons: The problem I'm having is that the front panel usb and audio ports are no longer working. They worked when I first got the case, but it has now been about 5 months in and the mic port does not work and neither does one of the other usb ports.

Other Thoughts: Looking at other reviews for this, I haven't seen anyone else have this issue so it could just be an issue with my specific case or motherboard but it still is frustrating.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We apologize about the inconveniences the defective USB ports have caused. The Commander G42 is backed by a 3 year warranty. Please contact Customer Service so we can have the USB ports replaced through warranty service.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive Build Quality

Pros: I had been buying a different brand case, which turned out not to be available, so I gave the Thermaltake G-42 a try. I'm glad I did. The build quality is excellent. Case is sturdy, and the doors fit well and are easy to remove and replace. The wiring is good quality, with shrink-wrapped bundles. USB 3.0 connector from the front fit right onto the motherboard header. Plenty of room for future expansion - can hold lots of components such as hard drives.

Cons: Not a con really - I didn't care for the case cover screws. Just a bit difficult to deal with, but they do their job.

Other Thoughts: Glad I ran into this one. It may replace my previous standard for economy cases.

4 out of 5 eggsOK But Not what I expected

Pros: *Lots of space for drives.
*Easy to remove and replace.
*Lots of room for cables.
*Front panel switches are in a module which could make it easy to replace if the power witch goes bad...assuming the module is available.

Cons: *No foam air filters.
*The pic on Newegg showed the front panel was located on top which meant you could put the box on the floor next to your desk. The case I got had them on the front.

Other Thoughts: I expected a case in an enameled box as per usual. What I got was the case in a cardboard box. It isn't a big deal, just different.
I expected foam air filters but none were included. That was a disappointment.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Paint Job

Pros: It has a window and good ventilation. It's wide to accommodate tall CPU coolers and wide video cards.

Cons: I dropped it 3 eggs because of the paint job. There are large chunks of something in the paint job. What makes it worse is that these chunks in the paint are along the frame of the window which means it will always been seen by people checking out the inside of the computer.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Please contact our customer service team for RMA instructions. We would like to replace that chassis for you through warranty service.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat the price

Pros: 1. Quality construction
2. Attractive design
3. Removable (almost) tool free storage and tool free 5.25" drive bays
4. Roomy w/ good air flow

Cons: 1. Have had some trouble sliding the sides off; has loosened up with time
2. Cable openings are not rubber lined
3. Window shows smudges rather easily
4. the LED fan is pretty lame compared to others, the fan blades do not light up well at all

Other Thoughts: I bought the Antec Nine Hundred but felt like the case was "antiquated." The G42 has all of the more modern features I was looking for such as tool free bays and intake filters.

Would be nice if could install one more intake fan on the front, but since I removed the top storage bay to fit my graphics card this isnt really an issue for me as I have great air flow and cool temps

All of the cons are minimal and do not merit docking an egg. I got this case on a great sale. I am happy to sacrifice a few luxuries for the great price I got on this case.

I keep this case resting on my desk and I love looking at it.

(Also, I think someone mentioned that they couldnt mount a fan on the bottom with a modular power supply. This was not an issue for me. I have a Corsair RM650 and the fan fits fine.)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: the price. can install just about any radiator easy. so much room, great build quality for the price. Actually it's very impressive. If you want liquid cooling and a good case without the huge price, you just found it. Dont think twice.

Cons: For this price, not a single con.

5 out of 5 eggsTT Commander G42

Pros: Build Quality
Aesthetics
Modular Drive Cage
Server Style "Drive Blade" Bays
Cooling Options
Tool-less Drive Bays

Cons: No Rubber Grommets on Wire Solution Holes and external liquid cooling tube ports are not punched.

Window marks with even the slightest bump

Other Thoughts: I really can't stress the quality of the build quality of the case itself enough. It is a very good case.

The holes for the liquid cooling do not come punched however, so if youre planning on using an external pump for your cooling solution be aware of that. It does have plenty of room for sealed unit cooling inside, however. The wire conduit holes do not have rubber grommets, but are rolled, and not sharp. I would just like to see rubber around any metal parts wires might come into contact with.

The window material is also quite soft. I leaned it against a glass vase, then bumped it and it slid down the vase under its own weight... marking it the whole way down. I then marked it with my fingernail for some reason while I was in shock still just to see if my eyes deceived me. They did not. Another thing to be aware of.

That being said, the modular drive cage and server style drawer drive bays and tool-less installation are all amazing features that add value to this case. The near limitless cooling solutions that are available are also a much needed asset for high end gaming systems.

With some customization, this case has the potential to be phenomenal. Grab some U-Channel Trim from an electronics store and rim off the wiring solution. Possible window mod with some Lucite sheeting instead of the cheap clear plastic window and you have yourself a real quality case!

5 out of 5 eggsThermaltake Commander G42

Pros: Just received my case in the mail today and I must say the shipping was way faster than expected, regular ground shipping made it here in 2 days. WOW. This case is much bigger than expected as well, but not so big that it looks clumsy it actually looks exactly as pictured on newegg.com Im very happy with the amount of room this case has, plenty of room behind motherboard for wires, plenty of room for that bigger gaming graphics card, dual or triple fan. Also love the hard drive bays and the 5.25 reducer to 3.5 " converted from one of the 5.25 bays in which there is 3 on this particular model. Also comes with 2 fans for those of you who are wondering there is one in the front and one in the back and YES they do light up blue, lol. All in all a great case for someone who is wanting to do there own build, first time build or professional build, you cant go wrong with this one guys and girls. =p

Cons: NONE so far, will update my review if I find any cons but so far so good!!!

Other Thoughts: like many others have already said, when installing the hard drive make sure the female end of the drive where the wires connect to the drive are toward the back" side opposite of the window" before installing drive otherwise wires will be splinched and could get tore and cause MAJOR problems.
