5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great construction, highly customizable. All the components I used fit without issue, and it appears to have enough room to fit large video cards (though they might stretch into the front bezel a bit).

Cons: One thumbscrew was inside the case, outside of the accessory bag. I was a bit surprised to find it there. Not sure if it was by design, or if someone just placed it in there by mistake. I felt that cable management options could be a little better, but I suppose for the size of the case they were decent. Most cables can be hidden in front of the PSU.

Other Thoughts: It is important to note that with this case your components will be very visible at all times through either the window or the large amount of side ventilation.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MITX

Pros: I was a bit worried being that this was my first computer build and I was using what some call a MITX. But let me tell you, this case made it a breeze. Once you remove all the sides, everything went in easy. It didn't take me long to have everything hooked up and running.

Small footprint.

The case will fit a EVGA 750Ti FTW with room to spare.

A EVGA 500B PSU fit with no problems....size wise (See Cons).

Cable management can be done if you take the time to do it.

The 200mm fan is quite though I haven't tried to listen for it. I also have lots of background noise in my house and that may play a roll in me not hearing it.

Cons: I did run into a problem with one standoff and the PSU holes not lining up with my EVGA 500B. It did take a small effort for the standoff screw to go in but the PSU hole...that took some force. I did get it to go in but only after I backed out every screw. Was it my fault, EVGA or TT's?? Who knows. It wasn't a 'shoot' moment for me.

The window could have been a made better. Its very....thin, flimsy and breakable. Use some brains when you move the panel around. Cracking can be heard when force is used to remove it from the case.

The front panel is very easy to flex and bend. I already bent the top left and don't even have a clue how it did it. Again use some brains with these panels.

Other Thoughts: All in all I can not deduct any eggs even with the cons listed above. Reason being is that these cases get produced on a mass scale and yes, some time CQ doesn't pick up on the smaller details that we deal with. IE mounting holes not lining up with motherboards or PSUs.

I would have also seen at least one rear fan be included with the case. I haven't had any heat issues but just having that one fan could be comforting in knowing you can exhaust some heat build up..if any.

The logo on the front is placed in an indention that is made into the panel. I would have like to seen this done differently. If you are a person who might rotate the case, the logo will be sideways. I've hear that you can remove it but you will still have the indention where it was. If TT would use a metal logo with a small screw attached to it, then its a simple unbolt and bolt it where you want it.

Overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this case to anyone who wants a simple MITX case.

3 out of 5 eggsThermaltake v1 case

Pros: For $40.00 there is nothing better! Would give it 5 stars had it not been for poor quality control. See below.

Cons: Quality control is the issue on this one. Two motherboard standoffs were not properly threaded. Inserted both screws on one side just fine--- the other side the screws would not start. Took the installed screws from good side to use in the suspect mounts. Same problem. Would not start. Had to force it in with a screw driver in order to get it in. Of course the screw threads are now messed up but at that point what else can you do short of re-tapping or returning it. Also the Power led cable shows two positives instead of one negative and one positive. Would be nice to get a partial credit for the defective mounts.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
Please contact Customer Service and we can have the standoffs or any other screws that may be damaged.

5 out of 5 eggsModern case design and includes some undervalued case features!

Pros: This is my favorite mini-ITX case so far, I've had an Azza Z and a Cooler Master Elite 130 before the core v1. I wanted to get my hands on the ncase m1 but it was way too expensive. For this $40-50 price it's extremely easy to work with and has great ventilation.

If I ever wanted to change the heat sink or cpu cooler I don't have to take apart everything. I just open all 4 panels unscrew the power supply and move it to the side. Then i have access to the cpu cutout below. It's wonderful not having to take out the whole motherboard and cables attached to it to change coolers.

The interchangeable panels is pretty darn useful. I just wish they sold the mesh individually panels too.

The powersupply and cables have their own compartment. There's lots of room for your Graphics card and a semi large cpu cooler (given that it isn't over 140mm tall total).

It also has motherboard mounts already so you don't need to screw in any risers.

***Comparisons***
the azza z was the hardest to work with and wasn't very flexible. Everything just takes twice as longer to put together.

The cooler master elite on the other hand has a weird top mounted power supply spot that bulges out in the back. It was easier to work with than the Azza but the Core V1 is still much easier. You can't remove the bottom panel of the coolermaster 130 and can't change heatsink without removing the motherboard for it. The cable management for the Core V1 is much better as it has a separate power supply compartment under the motherboard.

Cons: The only think that I don't like about the core v1 is the fan filter in the front mesh panel. You would have to bend the metal clips welded to the front cover 90 degrees to take out the filter. I have a feeling if one does this too often or bend the clips back too far the metal clips would snap.

Other Thoughts: Hidden features: "You can mount additional fans and drives right on the side panel grating using the rubber grommets that come with the case. You can also order more window panels if you want a sexier look and a quieter build." -Oafah

2 out of 5 eggsPoorly manufactured/Quality control

Pros: The case looks good. thumb screws come with the case, big 200mm fan. It's definitely priced good! I love Mini ITX cases.

Cons: Unfortunately the case came with a manufacturing defect, the motherboard tray was not installed properly inside it during fabrication so only 1 of the pop rivets was actually installed correctly. Seriously quality control was sleeping away when my case was put together as it was easily detectable if he'd just looked at the thing for 2 secs.

Other Thoughts: I've RMA'd the case for now for replacement, we'll see how case #2 is when it shows up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mini value!

Pros: This is an updated review after 3 months of use, and I still give it 5 eggs with the caveats below. It certainly is a dream to work in, best layout, and excellent quality for the price!

Cons: Cooling is tricky as with all mesh type cases. Air does not flow over motherboard, but detours out side vents before getting there. I have a much too warm mother board in the warm environment where it sits. I will install plexiglass inside the side panels to funnel air over mobo and out back, as well as install back fans.

Other Thoughts: An easier solution is to apply sound deadening material on inside of side panels over the mesh.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case for $20

Pros: - $20 after rebate!
- Great airflow with that 200mm fan
- Tight and small that it fits anywhere
- Fits a full sized GPU (7950) with no problems

Cons: - Fits only two HDDs which I already knew, but for someone that wants a media server for example, this is not the case
- Front has mesh that might block air flow
- only 80mm fans in the back...

5 out of 5 eggsThe best mITX Case out there.

Pros: I must say this case looks pretty awesome!! So much space in here that you can fit almost anything on it. I bought for a budget pc/media center for my dad and he just fell in love with the case. In the future a will use this case for a serious gaming/music editing rig with a nice cpu cooler. The price is worth it and the front fan is almost silent. I looks pretty good with blue led fans in the back. If your not sure on buying this case, search Thermaltake Core V1 forum, in here you will find many builds with the case. I thought that my Gigabyte GTX 760 that measures 10.43" long and guess what? It fitted perfectly, even better than in my current workstation that has a Antec 300 Case. I could not believed. Also, temperatures runs pretty decent. Intel Core i3 at full load runs as 69 c and 30 c at idle with the stock cooler (Will be changing it soon). My vga runs at 30 c while doing light stuff and 79 c under full load. Buy it, you wont regret it.

-USB 3.0 on the front
-Great Cable management
-Small Form Factor
-Pretty Stylish
-Good Price for the value

Cons: None really. Maybe that it does not supports a cd/dvd drive but that is so old this days.

Other Thoughts: I have seen some comments that recommend using a modular PSU and i must say that is complete nonsense. any PSU will be great for this case since it has so much space for cables in the front. Really, no need for a modular psu, just use great cable management and you will be just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Little Case

Pros: - The size of the case is in my opinion, perfect. It is big enough that you can still fit in all the hardware the average user needs but not so large to seem wasteful.
-The case feels well built considering the price and the window seems to be of a higher quality acrylic than most other cases.
-Its nice to see a removable dust filter for the power supply. These can be rather uncommon in ITX chassis.
-The separation between the motherboard area and power supply area is great for keeping a tidy looking system.
-The case is much bigger than the Cooler Master Elite 110 that I own but it is a far more practical case.
-200mm fan is great for airflow. I uses a low noise adapter as at stock speeds the fan is a little loud for my taste but with the adapter the case is very quiet.
-Only $40 after rebate, what a steal!

Cons: -I would have preferred a different HDD/SSD mounting system. I think they could have done something similar to the Corsair Obsidian 250D. It would have cleaned up the look of case greatly.

Other Thoughts: I have owned several ITX cases (Elite 110, Rosewill U2, DIYPC Cube, Bitfenix Prodigy) and this is my favorite. While there is always room for improvement, this case gets closer to perfect than any other case I have owned.
