5 out of 5 eggsBest care I've owned

This review is from: Thermaltake Core V51 (CA-1C6-00M1WN-00) Black ATX Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: The window is gorgeous. Not fan holes to ruin the view inside the case. The hard drive mounting options are incredible. I can't see myself ever getting a different case. My old case was an Antec 900-2. It was nice, but I didn't really like the cluttered side window, nor the hard drive cages. It also only had an SSD mount in the bottom, and it is really hard to get the cables plugged/unplugged once it's mounted.

Cons: no complaints

3 out of 5 eggsGreat case design.

This review is from: Thermaltake Core V51 (CA-1C6-00M1WN-00) Black ATX Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -Love the modular design, big window.

Cons: -Power switch died after a short time. Never have had a problem with power switch before, it should be a non-issue.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case, but.....

This review is from: Thermaltake Core V51 (CA-1C6-00M1WN-00) Black ATX Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a well built, roomy case with plenty of ventilation options – front, back, top and bottom. Though it is marketed as a mid-tower design it’s BIG. Significantly bigger than the Antec mid-tower I’m replacing. Man, working inside of this is a dream compared to other cases I’ve worked in.
The right hand case cover has a nice bump out in it that makes cable management much easier.
It comes with three 120mm fans installed. Two in the front and one in the back. In my present configuration, that leaves room for six more if I need them.
The hard drive cage is a split design that can be separated from a five bay setup into a three bay and a two bay module for a more flexible mounting configuration. I currently only have the three bay module installed.
It comes with ATX standoffs installed.
The front has two 5.25 inch bays and two USB 3.0 jacks.
The shipping box. Yes, that’s right, the box it came in. It’s big enough to hold all the boxes of the components I installed inside the case. Finally, one box to find them, one box to bind them.

Cons: The biggest one for my situation is the front panel reset switch pinout. My motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth Z170 Mk 1) has a three pin connection on the motherboard for the front panel reset switch. The case has a two pin connection. The motherboard that I’m migrating from is an ASUS Sabertooth 990 FX. It has a two pin connection. I’m not sure if this is a motherboard issue or a case issue. I’m mentioning this in my motherboard review also. Anyway, the bottom line is I can’t reset the system from the front panel. I can’t remember the last time I used that switch, but still…… This is not something that even entered my mind to research when spec-ing out these two components for this build.
There is no external 3.5-inch drive bay. Maybe it’s time I upgraded my USB 2 multi-card reader anyway. It’s money I didn’t budget for this build.
It’s not totally tool less, initially. Some of the thumb screws are installed pretty tight right out of the box. The threads seem to have a pretty tight tolerance. This means that you have be careful installing them initially. It’s hard to tell if they are cross threading or just going in hard. My suggestion is to run them in and out a couple of times before completely removing them the first time.
After I completed the build, I fired the system up and noticed a slight intermittent noise coming from it. Not enough to pinpoint where it was coming from though. I decided to finish the build and started the OS installation. When my CD drive started up it sounded like a freight train was in the computer. It was the plastic window in the right side panel. I informed Thermaltake via Email on 2/12 and got an out-of-office reply that the person would be out of the office from 2/5-2/22. Groan, doesn’t Thermaltake have temporary coverage for extended absences? Fortunately, I received a reply from the person, who was supposed to be off, giving me instructions on how to proceed. Groan, doesn’t Thermaltake have temporary coverage for extended absences? Poor guy. They want me to send the case back based on the reset switch issue. Never mentioned the side cover. I can do something to resolve that issue myself

Other Thoughts: Would I buy this again or recommend it to someone else? Setting the reset switch issue aside, absolutely. I guess I’ll have to decide if I want to keep the case and send back the motherboard, keep the motherboard and send back the case or live without the ability to reset the computer.

4 out of 5 eggsGood case

This review is from: Thermaltake Core V51 (CA-1C6-00M1WN-00) Black ATX Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Big would call it a jumbo mid if anything. Has filters and side window is nice. Modular if you only use 2 HDD/SDD you can remove the drive cage easily. used thumb screws for most things.

Cons: Cable management is just okay.

Other Thoughts: If you can find it on sale like I did get it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case! NOT A PAID REVIEW!!

This review is from: Thermaltake Core V51 (CA-1C6-00M1WN-00) Black ATX Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Tons of room for installing all your computer components! This case is extremely user friendly. It comes with 3 120mm fans that are fairly quiet and work great. The case can house a bunch of fans in sizes from 120mm to 200mm, so it has great airflow. It can also utilize liquid cooling. it has silicone flaps so you can route all your cables through a side panel and keep the setup looking nice and organized.

Cons: no complaints here.

Other Thoughts: the front two usb 3.0 ports aren't working but i may just not have something hooked up correctly. either way its not a big deal.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Box Out There

This review is from: Thermaltake Core V51 (CA-1C6-00M1WN-00) Black ATX Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: 1. This box is the most versatile build I have ever owned. You can fit anything in here, you can change it up for you build needs.
2. Very attractive.
3. Great Wiring routing.

Cons: 1. If you can really consider this a con, there is no built in slot on the front for smaller drives like card readers. You will have to buy something if you need that functionality.

Other Thoughts: 1. The box is almost a Full Tower. It is large. Way larger than my Antec 900. So be aware of that when purchasing. Make sure it will fit where you need.

Build:
AMD FX-8350
ASUS ROG Crosshair V Formula-Z
EVGA Geforce GTX 980ti
32 GB G.Skill TridentX (2400)
LEPA AquaChanger 240
Thermaltake Core V51
Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 850w

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely high quality case

This review is from: Thermaltake Core V51 (CA-1C6-00M1WN-00) Black ATX Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Level of quality and craftsmanship
- Simple and elegant design
- Ability to handle E-ATX boards
- Tooless drive cage
- Variety of fan sizes and placement options
- Liquid cooling options
- Very quiet fans
- Magnetic dust filter for top of case

Cons: Really the only downside I can find with this case is that on the access to the backside of the drive cage where the SATA connectors are is a bit limited so you have to use the straight type SATA cables (the bent type cables don't really fit)

Other Thoughts: I have 3 of these and this is my go-to standard case now for new PC builds. Just a fantastic high quality case with a lot of room and with so many options for fan and liquid cooling placements. Fits graphics cards up to 12". The removable magnetic dust filter on the top is a big plus, especially if you mount your air intake fans on top.
