Corsair Obsidian Series 700D CC700D Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: I know.. it says 'full size case' so I should have been ready for the size.. but I think the UPS guy got a hernia putting it on my porch.
Out of the box: beautiful case. solid. very attractive, almost like a monument. it feels like a professional case would, with no hint of plastic or breakable cheapness. I saw a case at a box store the other day that looked like a half-unfolded transformer.. trying to be some sort of cool and hip spectacle. That really isn't for me. This case, however, just speaks with simplistic beauty and permanence. Cable and patch management is robust and full of options. Side panels come off (and re-attach) as easily as they should. PLENTY of room for expansion.

Cons: wanted to deduct one egg due to the fact that Corsair just released a new USB 3 front panel replacement a week after I bought the case. Kinda stinks, but not enough to warrant any dissatisfaction with this wonderful sarcophagus.

Other Thoughts: The rebate helped ($50) and a sale price sealed the deal. I completely recommend the case to anyone needing space, durability and reliability. Just beware of the size. Seeing the dimensions and doing the ol' 'hands apart yea big' measurements don't cut it. Make sure you have room, and cut a piece or two of cardboard to actually represent the height and depth. But I had plenty of space, (as Madonna said) so I've made up my mind, I'm keepin' my baby.

Pros: Best built case I've owned. Feels like it was carved out of a solid block of granite. Just don't drop it on any toes.. or small animals.

Cons: Only space (unless you start drilling holes for new fan mounts) for the single intake fan at the bottom of the case. With space for 4 exhaust (3 top, 1 rear), it seems a little lopsided.

Please note, this is very minor, but after talking with several other 800/700D owners it seemed to be a reoccurring comment. I don't have some crazy enthusiast build, and have never ran into any problems keeping it cool.. and neither has anyone I've talked to.

Other Thoughts: Don't make the mistake I did and glaze over the case's dimensions. Although I love it, this thing is BIG. When I first picked it up at the post office, I literally couldn't fit the box it shipped in my car. I had to drive home slowly with the box hanging partway out of my open trunk.

Pros: The best Case I ever owned period. Great cable managment. Plenty of room. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Cons: None.

Pros: Excellent case, perfectly designed and lots of room. Everything is exactly where it should be with no extra junk.

Cons: Expensive, this is the most I have ever spent on a case and I hope its the last one I buy for a long time.

Pros: Well built case with clean lines and excellent cable management. One-button pop-off side panels make setup and maintenance super easy.

Cons: Cons I found were either easily fixed or due to my own personal preference, so I can't really take eggs off. Nevertheless, here goes:

1 - Bottom-mounted power supply meant that the 8-pin CPU power connection was a serious reach. Fortunately Corsair included a cable that could be use as an extension.
2 - The fans were too loud for me at full speed, and although easily undervolted they developed a noticeable clicking noise. Replacing with low RPM fans from my favorite manufacturer.
3 - The hard drives are rubber mounted, but that doesn't quite prevent vibrations from travelling through the case.

Other Thoughts: One of my top priorities in building a computer is to keep it near silent. Although this case doesn't quite manage to do so on its own, it's fortunately very easily modified with the right parts. Aside from the fans, I'm planning on adding sound dampening material to mitigate the remaining noise and the hard drive vibrations.

Pros: Lots of space, and I mean lots and lots of space. Cable management makes for a very clean looking build. I picked one up for $179 and bought a clear side panel for $32. So it is now very versatile when it comes to showing off the board or just hiding it behind the flat black panel. I would recommend this tower for anyone who wants lots of room to work with when building.

Cons: Only two cons I can see, one is the side panel that hides the cables tends to bulged out a little bit. It could have been a 1/2" deeper on that side and would prevent this from happening when a lot of cables are needed for the more intense builds. Also second con, the little filter on the bottom... yeah that should have been made to be pulled out from either the front or the back. It only comes out the back and if this thing is any where near a wall the thing will need to be moved. Its not a huge draw back, but when your pc weigh's over 50 lbs it cumbersome.

Other Thoughts: Its heavy... I would estimate over 50 lbs with the parts in it.

Pros: I like it better than a Corsair 800D I had. I was never into the window stuff. And I did not care for the quick swap drives. How often are drives changed anyway. Therefore this case does not have that front door for the quick swap. Better looking front.

Cons: Very Very few. Because of its large size the side panels are easily bowed. Especially the one back of the MB where the wires run. I had to take special care of positioning the cables. On the top of the front cover is an approximate 1" x 9" trim piece that does not hold down perfectly.

Other Thoughts: I have been through a half dozen full tower cases and so far this is the best.

Pros: - great design
- quiet
- lots of room for expansion
- excellent cooling
-easy access to everything

Cons: - vertical hard drive bay

Other Thoughts: This case is great and is exactly what I wanted. However, I had installed a 3.5 inch drive on the vertical drive bay towards the bottom and left it there until I was ready to set it up. When I was ready to set it up, the hd was dead and I had to return the drive. Taking out the 3.5 inch drive from that bay was extremely difficult. It was definitely stuck and sad to say, I had to use a lot of force. 30 minutes in and I finally got it out, not without having to purposely break the drive tray.

Those drive trays seem to only be meant for 2.5 inch drives. Even though the 3.5 inch drive fits, it may not come out so easily.

I do have to deduct an egg. Hope this helps, but other than that, a fantastic buy!

Pros: Great case in many ways! It is well thought out and easy to build in. I chose it over the HAF-X even though I'm air cooling because of the looks and the great luck I've had with other Corsair products. The cooling is more than adequate except for the extreme situation noted below.

Cons: The problems after five months of ownership and one motherboard switch is that the plastic bits keep breaking. I've broken three tooless hard drive inserts and two tooless drive bay clips. I'd return the case but I don't want to go through pulling everything out and reinstalling it so I'll live with the broken bits even though they annoy me every time I open the case.

Also I ended up modding in an 180mm fan over the video cards because I could not get them cool enough under intense use. (Note: I was running four overclocked 5770s so it was an extreme situation.)

Other Thoughts: I really like the case but wish I'd sprung for the 800D with its slightly more robust construction (and bought a solid side panel from Corsair) or waited for the 600T...

Pros: Huge interior, easy to work in, build quality is excellent, love the solid black color

Cons: Would have got a great deal on it if my rebate didn't conveniently get lost in the mail

Other Thoughts: Let's be honest, rebates are scams to get people to buy stuff. I didn't buy this case solely because of the rebate, but it definitely was a factor. I sent everything in like I should have, but the Corsair rebate site says that is hasn't been received. What a coincidence...every single other thing I have sent in the mail this year has been received just fine. It's like you've got this one shot for the stars and planets to align and if they don't, well, too bad...you have no recourse. Any wonder they make you send the UPC with it? Where are you supposed to get another one if the one you send "mysteriously" gets "lost" in the mail. I'm not gonna rate the case down for this, but I will never have faith in another Corsair rebate.
