5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: This is a very solid case. I previously had a CM HAFx (and older model of the HAF xm) which I thought was solid, but this is much more so! I really like the removable dust filter feature - a huge plus for me. It keeps my case a lot cleaner than my old hafx. The airflow is plenty for the moderate-high cpu and gpu air overclocking I do. Aesthetically it looks great and the nice big window is perfect for showing off hardware. The inside is painted black as well for a classy look. I found the removable/movable hhd/ssd drive bays to be a nice feature, I removed one bay to open up the airflow more directly behind the front fan.

Cons: The power button is a little more difficult to press than expected. Occasionally I have to press it a couple times because it doesn't register the first time.

Other Thoughts: Overall very pleased with the case. I spent a really long time picking out a case. I wanted high end features like removable dust filters and a solid frame without having to purchase a full sized tower at a high price. This case met my needs perfectly, and after about 6 months using it I am extremely pleased.

I use this computer for work/browsing and gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsSpace, features, and quality

Pros: - Plenty of room inside
- Typical Corsair cable managment (excellent)
- Fans are almost silent at stock speed plugged into motherboard
- Quality look and feel (window, side panel latches, push releases for front dust filter and media panel, etc.)

Cons: I bought it second hand and the previous owner told me the fan controller was prone to failure on these. He removed it so I couldn't see for myself.
- H110 fits but only in a pull configuration

Other Thoughts: I cut out the metal mesh in front of the front fan for
quieter operation and better airflow as it was redundant. I also removed both hard drive cages and mounted my SSD behind the motherboard.

Corsair has been my go to case for years now. Their look and features are always what I'm looking for. After 2 500r's I decided to try a different model. I wanted the 450d but found this one locally for dirt cheap. A little overkill for my needs but the price was nice.

4 out of 5 eggsVery solid case

Pros: Solid, heavy, simply styled. Looks like the obsidian monolith block from 2001 Space Odyssey. This is a "mid tower case"? It's huge and spacious!

Cons: Hernia-inducing heavy. Power and reset buttons can be somewhat hard to push (reset button being behind a small faceplate). After >1 yr of ownership, the top 200mm fan has crapped out. The OEM fans are mediocre quality, somewhat noisy.

Other Thoughts: I love the simple styling--I'm not into LAN parties or flash. This huge black box sits under my desk and does its job. I wish, for the price paid, the fans were a bit quieter and higher quality. Otherwise, there is more than enough room for whatever video cards and drives you want to mount. Interior is nicely finished, with no sharp edges.

5 out of 5 eggsBest quality case Corsair ever made!!!

Pros: High quality craftsmanship. SATA dock and awesome looks.

Cons: Need an adapter for a USB 3.0 motherboard header. No big deal though.

Other Thoughts: Have owned this case since May 2012 and love it!!! Just purchased a second one for a new build. I wish George over at Corsair, who designed this case, would just update it and keep it around. Also, making a full size version would be awesome too. However, this case will be EOLed by the end of the year. Love the old Obsidian looks, but not the new ones.

You will not be disappointed if you buy this. 5 eggs. ALSO, thanks Newegg, this case shipped out Monday and arrived on Wednesday...FOR FREE!!! No shipping cost. Thanks Newegg!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsFans going out

Pros: Good looking, simple designed case with access doors on both sides

Cons: The front case fan has stopped spinning. If I push it with my finger it will spin slowly for about a minute and then quit. The top case fan is barely moving and looks as if it is about to quit altogether soon.

2 out of 5 eggsNo UPC for Rebate

Pros: The case is as purported by Corsair and Newegg and was received in a timely fashion.

Cons: Corsair did not print the UPC on the case box. The black border Corsair prints on its case boxes for the UPC was there but the UPC itself was not printed. No insert with the UPC printed on it was included with the case. Thus, it was not possible to claim an advertised rebate.

On a separate point, on opening the case box, the front dust shield was found dislodged and rubbing against the front panel between the shield's normal location and the 5.25" bays. This part of the plastic front panel also had come unstuck from the underlying plastic frame. There was no damage to the case box so the problem likely happened during packaging at Corsair. With buffing and sufficient pressure to re-stick the front panel, these problems were corrected. Clearly Corsair's quality control and packaging on this case were not up to their normal standards.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is an excellent case put together well and made out of quality material. I paired this case with a Z87-Pro and a new Haswell CPU. The cooling efficiency is excellent and the ability to remove one of the drive bays adds to this. There is plenty of room for giant over sized GPUs as well.

Cons: The fans that come with this case are garbage and the front cover uses 6 plastic clips to fasten itself to the case. I have owned this case for less than 6 months and noticed the top exhaust fan had become imbalanced. I decided to replace all the fans that came with it and in the process of taking the front cover off to access the screw holes for the front intake fan, on of the clips broke. I have taken off one egg for this.

2 out of 5 eggsPlease try harder, Corsair

Pros: Pretty front panel
Good cable routing support

Cons: Let see how many feature that this case offers and actually work up to its high price.

Power switch: really need some serious force to press it.

Front USB3 port: using the cable to route the USB3 ports from the rear panel is helpful for motherboard that does not have the on board connector. But after routing, the front port does not detect any device. At least mine and other user left the comment here.

The SATA docking: how easy to fully close the door with your fingers? I mean fingers, not hand. Because the tiny bump on the top of the door does not provide enough material to grab with your hand. And once it fully closed, the ‘lock’ engaged, very hard to push it open. Same to the SATA connector itself, once a drive is inserted, it’s very hard to remove.

Install fans: loud. I believe it’s noisier than it should be. If we buy the fan from Corsair which sold separately, it is quiet. To replace the fans that come with this case, I have to throw in another $30. They have the better fan but choose to install the cheaper one in the case.

Side panel latches: hard to operate on mine and also other users comment the same.

Other Thoughts: I have built PC since 1977 as my job and also for friends. This is the worst case I ever run into.
When buying a product, we fully expect that it would not be 100% works as we want. But at this price, I expect the product should be better designed and more responsible.

4 out of 5 eggsReview on pre-revision unit from 2010

Pros: + Chassis is solid and sleek looking
+ Plenty of room, grommets, tiedown points, 5.25 bays, and HDD bay space for whatever your needs may be.
+ Cable management is great
+ HDD Hot Swap bay is a nice feature (when it works, see below)

Cons: - Had to replace front 200mm fan after 3 years (not so bad i guess)
- Had to replace rear exhaust fan after 1 year
- Fan controller (on the original unit, I believe it's been revised since) is garbage.
- USB 3.0 passthroughs -- wot?
- I don't think my Hot Swap bay (at the top) ever worked to begin with

Other Thoughts: This is a review of the case I bought in 2010. I believe it's been updated since then.

4 out of 5 eggsMissed it by two days

Pros: Tons of room for just about anything & plenty of fan volume with good flow thru ( when it works )

Cons: A little late in coming, but wanted to come back and let folks know that what ever circuit makes the three selectable fan speeds, may die like mine did 2 days after 2yr warranty. If you have loud video & processor fans you might not notice (not sure how many months my case fans were dead) so could be overheating components if you stash the case behind a desk.

Other Thoughts: Like the removable filters, would be nice if the feet has snap on height extensions so if on carpet there would be more room for PS air intake.
