The 400R has been carefully designed to provide a generous amount of internal volume, and it puts that volume to good use. There’s room for eight PCI-E cards of up to 316mm in length, and even room for a full 240mm radiator for compatibility with the Hydro Series H100 Liquid CPU Cooler and modular watercooling systems. Superior airflow is a requirement for high-performance components that will be regularly pushed to their limits, so the 400R has ten fan mounting points for cooling flexibility. Three 120mm fans — two in the front, and one in the rear — are included, so you’re ready to start building right out of the box.

  • newegg Superior Cooling Performance Airflow is a breeze with the Carbide Series. Two front-panel intake fans and one rear exhaust fan are included, and there are a total of ten mounting points (four 120mm, six 120mm/140mm).
  • newegg Built for Builders High-performance gaming systems need lots of room to work with. With eight expansion slots and 316mm of clearance, the Carbide 400R has room for triple-GPU installations for high end system buildup.
  • newegg Future-ready Support for USB 3.0 and 2.5" SSDs is built-in. Two USB 3.0 connectors are provided on the front panel and connect directly to motherboards with compatible USB 3.0 headers. Integrated SSD support lets you install 2.5" solid-state drives in any of the hard drive bays, without having to deal with adapters.
  • newegg Easy Access Thumb screws on the side panels and tool-free drive installation mean that you’ll spend less quality time with your screwdriver, and the integrated dust filters can be quickly removed for easy maintenance.
  • newegg Looking Good, Inside and Out. The beauty on the inside goes beyond the black-painted interior. Corsair’s innovative cable management system provides a straightforward way to route cables behind the motherboard, not across it where it can interfere with airflow and give your system a cluttered look. And since looks are an important part of any build, you’ll appreciate the ability to turn the front panel fan white LEDs on or off with the push of a button.

5 out of 5 eggsReally nice case

Pros: Looks really nice, installing components was easy, plenty of room inside the case for large hands to manipulate components. Plenty of fans and they are quiet.

Cons: Not really a con but make sure you study the dimensions before you buy.

Other Thoughts: This case is HUGE! So huge that you could probably park your 1950's Buick inside of it.

I'm also looking for a 1950's/1960's automobile chrome headlight bezel to mount to the front over the lighted fans since the lighted fans remind me of headlights with the brights left on.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor customer service

Pros: Decent Case

Cons: Front panel USB ports were shorted out. Corsair won't even respond to a ticket I created asking for a replacement. Buy a competitors product because if something simple is wrong with your Corsair part they won't care.

Other Thoughts: Bad Customer Service!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Beautiful to work with, no problems with cable management, even without a modular PSU. I have a modular, however a friend of mine who just built his computer did not and he said there were no problems whatsoever! Plenty of room for expansion as well :) Also worth noting, the two fans that came with this case are all I have currently and am having no issues with air flow.
Handle is great if you frequent at LAN parties, however read the cons.

Cons: The dust filter on the bottom is inconvenient at times, especially when carrying using the handle, it tends to fall out then when you set it down it bends. I broke it within 30 minutes of owning the case due to this and it being very flimsy plastic. The filter still works great despite the crack though, so great news there!

Also, there is a hard drive activity light that is very annoying at night if you leave it on. It's bright and flashes a ton, however if you just unplug it from the motherboard it's not a big deal, unless you're concerned about your hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Was entirely worth the money, the pros heavily outweigh the cons!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Simple, clean look.
- Ample space for components, including long GPUs.
- Side-mounted drives with easy-install trays.
- Mounting points for 10 fans.
- Cable grommets are awesome. Cable management is like night and day compared to my previous case.
- Finish and quality are what I expect from Corsair, with one important caveat.

Cons: - Mine is missing the screws to mount top and side fans. This is apparently a known issue, but my support ticket has gone unanswered. I've already ordered fans, and it would really suck not to be able to install them.
- The 5.25 bays have a snap mechanism of questionable utility. I still needed to screw in my optical drive to secure it, and my fan controller is loose because the mechanism covers up screw holes.
- The rear is fitted with only a 120mm fan, though it's designed to fit 140mm. It seems a bit stingy for a case in this range, especially seeing as that's the only exhaust fan.
- No tool-free install for 2.5" drives like SSDs.
- No front-panel eSATA

4 out of 5 eggsDidn't realize how good it was

Pros: -Space behind the motherboard tray
-Tool less drive mounting system
-Solid construction. I move it Once a week to my cousins house to game and the built in handle is as sturdy as anything I've ever used. And I'm not the easiest on the thing. Everything in the case feels like it was built with quality in mind.
-Very easy to build in. Will get into more detail later

Cons: -Drive cage is not removable. It's a small gripe but I would have really appreciated a removable drive cage.
-Doesn't include the needed fan screws by default. You need bigger then normal fan screws to mount fans on the side and the top of the case. I e-mailed Corsair and filled out an RMA form and was sent the screws WITHOUT having to send my case it. Another reviewer said he was going to have to send his case in to get the screws. That's very false and he most likely didn't read the email sent by Corsair correctly. So not really a down on the case just something extra you'll need to do

Other Thoughts: When I first bought and built my rig in the case I thought it was an ok case with ok features. Until I redid my buddies build when he bought his new video card. It was a Diablotek EVO and it was literally a nightmare to work in. No space behind the motherboard tray, no room to move your hands, and just a general none of the case felt like it was made with quality in mind. This case is the exact opposite. Tons of space behind the motherboard tray, easy to move around in, and just generally a joy to build in in comparison. The 400r was the first case I built in and didn't realize how bad it was till I built in something that was a complete nightmare to be honest. But the case, you won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent case, excellent service from Corsair

Pros: The case is excellent overall and seems to be packed with quality. I've upgraded from an Antec 300, and this case is far better. I'm very satisfied with the case and have to say that it makes the whole system look much better.

Corsair's service was excellent, and, as always, the Egg was great too.

Cons: The right side could be bigger-it's a bit cramped with the cables there. Maybe Corsair could include a way to block off those areas that don't have a fan.

Other Thoughts: My mobo has USB 3.0 at the back panel, but does not have a 3.0 (only 2.0) connection where the front panel connecter goes, so I only get 2.0 at the front panel.

The two sides of the USB adapter included with the case are pretty close in appearance and I connected them together wrong-breaking off a pin. I called Corsair and explained that it was my fault rather than the adapter's, and they immediately agreed to send me a free new one-outstanding!

This is the first major component I've bought from Corsair and I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with both the case and their service. I'll be looking at Corsair first for future purchases.

5 out of 5 eggsNew Build

Pros: Great tower, plenty of room to add more expansion cards and the ease of installing the hard drives in nice. Also with capability of installing more case fans is great to keep things cooled. Also nice to be able to hide the cables. Shipping again was great and fast.

Cons: None at this time.

4 out of 5 eggscpu power cable and the z77 sabertooth mobo

Pros: wonderful case.

Cons: the z77 sabertooths thermoguard gets in the way of the processors power supply and the h100. I had to off set the radiator for the h100 to get all of them to fit in the case. Quite an annoyance considering the fact that both parts are corsair.
