5 out of 5 eggsvery spacious

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: gives you plenty of room for cable management. has easily removable drive bays that helps with air flow if you don't need all the bays. its quiet.

Cons: nothing major. wish it came with top exhaust fans but fans are cheap so no big deal.

Other Thoughts: i would buy again. have had one minor hiccup with the front audio headphone port. was making crazy noises when i plugged headphones in, and only one ear would work. this could have been cause of me obviously. i could have had the audio cable too tight or slightly off when i plugged it in. I unplugged the audio cable and gave it a hair more slack and plugged it back in and it fixed the problem.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Potential, Falls Short of Awesome

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: - Solid
- Cable Management
- Weight

Cons: Read this before buying:
Corsair cases and PSUs have come a long way and are solid. I chose this case since I wanted to go down from a Full Tower... this is currently their best Mid-ATX. With that being said, use my experience before making a decision.
1. Only comes with 2-120mm front and 1 120mm back case fans. These fans will not plug into your MOBO, must use cable coming from front panel... I guess so you can use the switch, separate panel power from PSU. What's interesting is that it's only made for the 4 fans (1 200mm side too). So if I added fans to the empty slots, I couldn't use the case's proprietary system.
2. Must buy top two 120 or 140mm fans. Might as well go 140mm. And the back 120mm case fan (plain black/no LED) is set up to also hold a 140mm. So I'll buy 3 and replace that one too.
3. Well, might as well buy the 2-fan case pack and replace the front two 120mm as well. This way I can plug all fans into my MOBO and use the temperature monitoring tool to get readings.
4. So, Corsair case fans purchased: 1-2-pack 120mm, 3-140mm. I would replace the 200mm side fan, but corsair doesn't sell one! Guess I must use their system to keep that one plugged in to the front panel for now. I will buy a 200mm case fan if/when corsair sells one separately.
5. But with all these case fans, check to see if your MOBO even has the connections for them. My ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO ALPHA does; 4 case fan connectors, and I used the two "water cpu cooler" connections for the top two. This equals 6 connections avail and all will be used once I replace the 200mm fan... rendering front panel fan controls completely useless.
6. Front panel 1394 connection. MOBO doesn't even have a connector for this, so that's useless. Even though the cable matches up with a USB 2.0 connection, DO NOT insert 1394 cable into a USB 2.0 connection on MOBO - you will short it out, guaranteed.
7. So, now with around $60 in case fans added, I could have gotten a different case for the price point.
8. One could put 2 more fans at the bottom, internal PSU and HD cage will not allow this. But the bottom fans (if existed) are THE ONLY ONES with a removable filter screen. Seriously? Yes.

Other Thoughts: Could be something great here Corsair; include all case fans with standard connectors, air filters, and make the front-panel interchangeable.

5 out of 5 eggsBest thing I bought out of my build

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Sturdy
Tons of expansion space
Comes with good fans
Removable HD cages
Dust Filters
Survived a few 500 mile road trips

Cons: Side panel can give more space towards HDs for cables. Provides tons of storage but to use it you have to smash the cables just to barely put on the side panel. I have 3 HDs and it's getting kind of hard now. None the less the panel does still go on so that's why I didn't take an egg off.

Other Thoughts: I've been using this case since December 2013 and it's still surpasses any case I come across of a friend or someone else. I use the fans that were included in the case, love how you have the option to turn off the lights on the front panel. After 3+ years everything still works so props to this case. Although I only paid $80 for this case on Black Friday, I think the price is a little steep for my liking, but if you're willing to pay it then this case will pay off in the long term. Plan on using this case for future builds as well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case, would recommend

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: - Love how it looks. Saw my friend's case and left this as an option for when I upgraded
- Easy to mod (see thoughts for more)
- Much space for lots of air flow and cable management
- Detachable top fan mesh thingy, since I can't see the top from where it is, I just removed it for more fan flow. I feel like if it weren't detachable, it would slow down the flow.

Cons: - Fans it came with. 2 front fan and the 200mm side fan use their own connectors that connects to the case (not the motherboard/PSU) which I find annoying if I were to replace the fan in the future. Suppose I'll either cut it off or see what I can do when the time comes.
- The front rubber stops came off the moment I finished installing my parts, pushed it once without picking it up because couldn't put where it needed to go by picking it up and off they went. So there's that

Other Thoughts: - I removed both HDD bays, DVD bay, mounted my HDD's onto the back panel (sticky back velcro straps), put a Noctua 140mm fan to where the DVD bay used to be and now I have better cooling (dropped about 3-5 C for GPU ever since installed it and the HDD's have dropped signicantly since they're right next to the fans). Cut out the front panel mesh and replaced it with a window panel. Now it looks great with LED :D
- Bought the black instead of the white (which I wanted) only because it was much cheaper for some reason.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent workstation case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: -plenty of drive space, the removable mounting system is great for media pros who need to add new drives frequently.
-plenty of air flow and fans, even stock fans.
-METAL thumbscrews
-very easy to manage a big build in.

Cons: -Plastic, but really not very much of it so this is a nitpick.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to any other media pro looking for a case big enough for a graphics workstation build. There is enough room in the case for multiple hard drives for RAIDs or simply extra storage. Being a X99 platform, the ability to run Corsair's largest liquid cooling system makes for great scalability in the event I swap in a newer Xeon chip or upgraded desktop X99 chip at a later date while ensuring that the cooling system can handle the upgrade.

3 out of 5 eggsFits anything you could want

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: - Large enough for any card, cooler, mobo
- Removable HHD shelving
- Openings for water loops
- Removable bottom fan screen
- Comes with fans
- On/Off switch for fan light

Cons: - Proprietary Corsair fan connectors

Other Thoughts: Room to spare even with water cooling in Push/Pull, double wide graphics and multiple drives. Wish the fans didn't have to be run through the case fan controller as the controller switch doesn't seem to do anything. Not sure what the IEEE 1394 is all about.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty sweet case, but...

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Well built, spacious, good cable management capabilities. Good case for the price, would recommend with some additional suggestions. (see cons)

Cons: Does not have mesh filters over the fans, which will allow much more dust to get inside. Kind of annoying, for me at least. Does not come with adapters for all 10 fans. If you buy this, be sure to buy an adapter that supports the other 7. Though these are mild annoyances, they don't warrant an egg deduction.

4 out of 5 eggsPurchased 29NOV13

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Really nice fans

Cons: the headphone and mic jack plug was shorted and it caused my CPU to overheat and occasionally blue screen.

Other Thoughts: I have owned mine for a couple of years now and I just installed a new motherboard and this case made it easy. Also good size for the bigger graphics cards.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for builds with oversized video cards

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: -Nice airflow
-Good wire management
-Removable hard disk cages, but I didn't even need to remove them for my Sapphire R9 390!
-The little shelf on top is nice

Cons: -The thumb screws suck. Really, they're awful. The threads are tiny, they don't like to engage and they come all the way out
-The bottom air filter has a tendency to slide out and bend/get damaged when re-inserting the case in it's box
-The big side fan has a short cable

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME!

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Huge space! good airflow, good LIGHTS!

Cons: none yet except for the audio plug in the front panel is tight. It is hard to plug in and out my earphone. But other than that everything is okay! the USB port at the front panel doesn't go in all the way. Although that is the only USB that doesn't go in all the way.

Other Thoughts: one thing, if you are considering of buying a water cooler for your cpu and plan to put it on the top, you must pick a mobo that has its ram placed not on the top because the memory will block the radiator and fan.
