4 out of 5 eggsPurchased 29NOV13

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Really nice fans

Cons: the headphone and mic jack plug was shorted and it caused my CPU to overheat and occasionally blue screen.

Other Thoughts: I have owned mine for a couple of years now and I just installed a new motherboard and this case made it easy. Also good size for the bigger graphics cards.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for builds with oversized video cards

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: -Nice airflow
-Good wire management
-Removable hard disk cages, but I didn't even need to remove them for my Sapphire R9 390!
-The little shelf on top is nice

Cons: -The thumb screws suck. Really, they're awful. The threads are tiny, they don't like to engage and they come all the way out
-The bottom air filter has a tendency to slide out and bend/get damaged when re-inserting the case in it's box
-The big side fan has a short cable

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME!

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Huge space! good airflow, good LIGHTS!

Cons: none yet except for the audio plug in the front panel is tight. It is hard to plug in and out my earphone. But other than that everything is okay! the USB port at the front panel doesn't go in all the way. Although that is the only USB that doesn't go in all the way.

Other Thoughts: one thing, if you are considering of buying a water cooler for your cpu and plan to put it on the top, you must pick a mobo that has its ram placed not on the top because the memory will block the radiator and fan.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: - Price was low for me ($89.99).
- Very sturdy case, very well built. I feel like I could toss it out a building and it would keep its shape. It definitely has earned the word "tough" from me.
- Excellent cooling capability.
- Plenty of room for wire management.
- Front panel USB is mounted sideways, allowing for huge flash drives to be plugged in without bumping into other USB devices (this was a selling point for me).

Cons: - No carrying handles or easy grip areas, it's large and heavy enough that somewhere to grab or hold on to would be nice when lifting it upwards. The front and sides of the case are entirely flat so there's no place to grab. You have to lift from the bottom or risk it slipping from your hands. I did get around this by popping off the top fan area and lifting from there, but that's not ideal.
- The drive bay snap-ins are very flimsy and feel like they will break when plugging in drives. You have to hold the drive in place with another hand when plugging in cables otherwise it could come loose and fly out while you're inserting the cables.
- The front fans connector is backwards. It uses a male connector instead of a female connector, so I can't plug it in to the mainboard until I get a male-to-male adapter. There's also a MOLEX connector which allows the fans to be powered and allows you to control the LEDs but you can't control the speed using that.
- The case comes with an IEEE 1394 (FireWire) port that's completely useless in modern builds. I will need to probably get a dust cover for the FireWire port as a reminder that it's not plugged in.

Other Thoughts: Build:
- ASUS X99-DELUXE USB 3.1 Mainboard
- Intel Core i7-5930K 6-core Processor
- ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B CPU Cooler
- EVGA SuperNOVA 220-P2-0750-X1 750W Fully-Modular Power Supply
- (2x) EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2978-KR FTW Edition

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair 55r case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Roomy case. Plenty of cooling. Good solid paint, does not scratch or chip easy. Came with all the screws/hardware I needed. Well packaged, and shipment arrived fast.

Cons: Rivets are a bit long, had to wiggle around them, as they stick up a good 3/8" inside the case. Experienced some difficulty mounting expansion cards, and mounting the power supply.
I had a question about the fan wiring, submitted to "email tech support", 3 days later still have not received a reply. Eventually figured it out for myself (extra power line with odd shaped jack, was for side panel 200mm intake fan, NOT the 120mm exhaust fan).

Other Thoughts: The case is LARGE for a Mid-tower. When compared to other mid's I have owned, this is externally about 33-50% larger. If you have limited space, read the dimension carefully before purchasing. Fit my needs, so not a drawback for me. The insides are spacious, plenty of space.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: good price, included fans aren't to bad if you don't mind a bit of noise, lots of drive bays, decent cable management

Cons: front usb 3.0 connector doesn't stay in at all. It is supposed to clip in but it just sits in the usb port on my motherboard then falls out.

Other Thoughts: good for the money but I've seen other problems with them so just make sure you do a once over when you get it to see if it all works.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Cool Case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: ok. so this case runs extremely cool and all the fans help with that. i love that the top supports a watercooling radiator perfectly and works perfectly with my h100i.

Cons: didn't include the USB 3.0 to 2.0 adapter in the box of goodies it comes with. everything else about this case works perfectly and the cable management in back works great. i just bought an adapter off the internet for like 5 dollars so its not that big of a deal. my motherboard doesnt have onboard 3.0 so thats why i needed the adapter so i could use the front panel usb.

Other Thoughts: slick looking and quiet. would recommend.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: Roomy case, easy to work with. The case is a great buy looks great and was easy to install all my components. Also very easy to install the Cooler Master Seidon 240M - All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System that i wanted for this build fit in the top of the case with ease.

Cons: There was one wire that I was not sure where it plugged into and there where no direction. It turns out it was to the side panel fan.

Other Thoughts: Great buy and as always NewEgg was fantastic

5 out of 5 eggsLove this Frame

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Compatible with ATX (not included) Power Supply

Pros: If your biulding your own rigg like me, and want lots of options without any fuss then this case is for you.

This case any loads of room to work in, loads of options for adjustment, and makes everything SUPER easy hook up and modifing.

Really can't say enough about this case. It has been everything I wanted and more in a case and made biulding my custom machine super easy and stress free.

It's large size allowed me to put beast Graphic cards in like the gtx980 without any fear of running out of room or having to juggle cables to make things fit.

Cons: If you want to call it a con. The case is a good size, some people may find it to big for some desks lay outs. That said if your looking at cases like this, then your in the market for a big machine and are well aware of the size of that case. Which isn't nearly as big as they can get. I would say this is a prefect size mid case, with enough flexability for just about anything you want to toss in it.
