  • newegg Superior Cooling Performance Airflow is a breeze with the Carbide Series. Two front-panel intake fans, one rear exhaust fan, and one 200mm side fan are included, and there are a total of ten mounting points (four 120mm, six 120mm/140mm).
  • newegg Built for Builders High-performance gaming systems need lots of room to work with. With eight expansion slots and up to 452mm in length, and by removing one of the two hard drive cages (316mm if the cage in place), the Carbide 500R has room for triple-GPU installations for high end system set ups.
  • newegg Future-ready Support for USB 3.0 and 2.5" SSDs is built-in. Two USB 3.0 connectors are provided on the front panel and connect directly to motherboards with compatible USB 3.0 headers. Integrated SSD support lets you install 2.5" solid-state drives in any of the hard drive bays, without having to deal with adapters.
  • newegg Multi-channel Fan Controller The multi-channel fan controller allows you to control speed of the fans to regulate the internal temperature and noise level.
  • newegg Easy Access Thumb screws on the side panels, removable hard drive cages, tool-free drive installation and easy-access backplate cutout mean that you’ll spend less quality time with your screwdriver. The integrated dust filters can be quickly removed for easy maintenance.
  • newegg Looking good, Inside and Out. The beauty on the inside goes beyond the black-painted interior. Corsair’s innovative cable management system provides a straightforward way to route cables behind the motherboard, not across it where it can interfere with airflow and give your system a cluttered look. And since looks are an important part of any build, you’ll appreciate the ability to turn the front panel fan white LEDs on or off with the push of a button.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat purchase

Pros: For a mid-tower, it's pretty spacious with a lot of room to grow.
- 6 bay areas
- 4 optical areas
- 4 fans (large 200mm fan)
- Great air support
- Cable hiding support
- Nice front I/O interface for fan control, 3.0 USB, etc.
- Great deal on price compared to some of the other cases in the same price range
- Corsair: 5/5 top notch support

Cons: - Some of the chords for the I/O board are a bit short, making the cable hiding somewhat stretched
- My I/O board connector was DOA, this seems to be a rather common issue. (More below).
- The instruction book that it came with is vague and not very helpful. The screws weren't labeled and as not an expert PC builder, it did go for some confusion.

I/O Board = The I/O board at the top worked for the major functions, just not the fan control. The annoying part is that because it was completely dead, it meant the other fans wouldn't work, unless they were plugged directly into the mobo. To be honest though, the case is so well ventilated that you don't really need the 200mm running unless you are seriously powerhousing. I plugged it straight into the mobo for the time being.

Other Thoughts: It's a great case, even with the DOA I/O board piece, I'd still highly recommend the case for anyone who doesn't want a full-sized sky scraper tower.

Corsair: Top notch support. I was on the phone with them for maybe 5 minutes while we troubleshot the I/O board issue, figuring out if it was the fan or the I/O board. The tech was incredibly pleasant and determined it was the I/O portion. After apologizing for the experience, we submitted a ticket. Literally 3 minutes after submitting the ticket, I got an e-mail saying it was accepted and within 5 minutes I got a shipping notice and a tracking number. They also notified me, there was no need to mail anything back and all I had to do was wait for the product to show up. Great customer service, I think other companies could learn a thing or two from them.

4 out of 5 eggsTwo years review.

Pros: Little maintenance due to lack of dust. Aside from cleaning the radiator, all parts are easily accessible and require the least amount of upkeep, from any cases I've owned. Airflow in my setup is superb albeit not optimal. The 500R looks a good way.

Cons: Space can be limited and modding may be necessary to install push/pull fans on the upper vents. The pegs it stands on are too short, preventing much needed airflow to the PSU and GPU.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mid Tower

Pros: Fans are Quiet and there is tons of room. my Thermaltake Frio CPU air cooler Model CLP0564 is about 3/8" away from the fan on the side panel. There is almost too much room even the Gigabyte huge 3 fan GTX 970 will fit in here..

Cons: None everything is great. I went with 120 MM fans for the top, wish I would have gone larger. The stock fans in front and on the side and back are silent @ low and medium fan speed.

Other Thoughts: Nobody can figure out where the tiny 3 pin wire on the case goes. It connects to the fan on the side panel lol oh and there is the old style power connector on the case hooked to tiny wires that is for the fan controller and LED lighting.

2 out of 5 eggsToo Small for Full-size ATX Baords and Liquid Cooler

Pros: Good amount of fan connections - supports good air flow

Cons: I bought this case because it was listed by corsair as being compatible with their H105 closed-loop CPU liquid cooler. While it's compatible in the sense that the top of the case has two unoccupied fan slots, the fans plus the radiator take up way too much space inside the case. So much space that I couldn't fit the cooler and my full-size ATX motherboard inside. I ended up jury-rigging the case by removing the top plastic section and attaching the radiator on the outside of the case and the fans on the inside. While this worked just fine, it's not ideal by any means and now I can't close the case back up.

Other Thoughts: There was no instruction manual shipped with this case to explain the various buttons on the front. I appreciate that this case shipped with plastic zip ties and other implements for cable management, but the zip ties were way too small and there are few places on the case to attach them.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: 4 Fans included
Easy to hide cables in this case
I like the light show that is not overbearing IMO
I like that you can take out the Hard Drive bays to add extra airflow
Very easy to add 2 additional 120mm fans to the top of the case and 1 more to the bottom of the case
I currently have 7 fans and water cooling in this case with massive overclocking for my I5 4690k

Cons: Included fans are average. They are not horrible by any means but no as good as I expect from Corsiar

Other Thoughts: I still love Corsair Cases, Ram and PSU they are great and I will continue to buy Corsair products into the future.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Carbide 500R Case

Pros: Excellent fit and finish to case. Steel housing is solid and quite adequate with a great dark grey finish. Cooling is the best I've ever seen. I mounted a 270 mm water cooler for my CPU at the top of the case and 120 mm water cooler for my video card at the back. The front of the case has two 120 mm Corsair fans and a huge 200 mm side fan provided by Corsair and they are quiet. These fans also have controller on the case that works fine. The case has two USB 3.0 connectors and an adapter for USB 2.0 if your motherboard doesn't support 3.0. All and all, a great case even at the OEM's recommended price of about $130.

Cons: Almost none. The included 3.5 / 2.5 inch drive holders are kind of flimsy, but they do the job nevertheless. Corsair does not include enough special fan mounting screws, although regular fan mounting screws will work with the rubber grommets at all the fan mounting locations.

Other Thoughts: Rubber grommets are provided for all the fan mounting locations. This is exceptional quality and helps reduce fan noise. Case is listed as a full tower but its generally just a few inches taller than my mid-tower case. I appreciated the sales price and quick shipping by Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: -huge case for a mid tower
-enough space for everything
-looks great
-room for water cooling

Cons: -a lot of screws and just about no instructions as to which screws go with which socket
-fan control switch doesn't seem to do anything

Other Thoughts: overall, I've had this case for almost a year and a half and it still works great. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 was for the lack of instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!

Pros: This is a great case. Lots of room, easy to run the wires behind the motherboard, super quiet fans.

Cons: Fan LED switch doesn't seem to work, but thats no big deal really. It runs faster with the lights on, right?

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if wires were labeled better, but not that big of a deal.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Case!

Pros: Beautiful case with plenty of space! Used this case as part of my new gaming pc. Cord management was great and the tool free parts were amazing! Side and front fans look great with the white LED.

Cons: Only issue I had with the case was a faulty screw on the bottom where the PSU is supposed to go. There was one screw that stuck up just enough to keep my PSU from fitting into the designated spot. I took a hammer to the screw to flatten it a bit and things fit into place.

Other Thoughts: Ran into a bit of trouble trying to identify where the cords ran to. Could use better labeling to identify which cord belongs to which part (Front Fans, Power Button, etc.).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very roomy, much bigger the the Rosewill Challenger I replaced. The cable storage makes the inside very clean, the fans are quiet, and the white LEDs although bright are not annoying. System temps went down 10 degrees C from the Rosewill. Love this case.

Cons: My H100i would not fit inside the case without mods even though it said it would. Not going to take an egg off, but it negates the ability to push/pull from the top with a radiator. Had to mount radiator internal and fans external int he grill covered tray. No big deal, likely due to my mobo/RAM combo.

Other Thoughts: Using the ASUS Savertooth II with GSkill RAM with heatsinks. about a quarter inch less heat sink and the radiator would have fit.

Free shipping got to me in two days!
