1 out of 5 eggsDead Power button

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: large light and with large upgrade potential. very roomy with lots of fans

Cons: power button died after 80 days. have to RMA entire case as a result. one little piece of plastic killing a $1500 build is ridiculous!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: 1. This case has several openings for fans.
2. Fits large PSUs and Extended ATX motherboards.
3. Is extremely easy to clean.
4. Grommets make organization seamless.
5. Both sides are removeable for easy access.
6. Easy remove Drive trays

Cons: 1. The fans that come with the case are not very powerful and are proprietary to the fan switch. If you wish to trade these fans out. The switch would be useless.

Other Thoughts: It may be possible if you're careful and electronic savvy enough to rewire the control, but I don't recommend this.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid case with possibility for cooling issues

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Provides plenty of room for large GPUs and 280mm water cooler. Back panel access makes modifying a breeze, as well as arranging cables. Included fans provide large amounts of air flow, with the lighting being a nice touch. Sturdy and has withstood many transports over the past 1.5 years.

Cons: The bolts to hold the side panel in place can be difficult to latch when you are closing it, but not overly so. The placement of the fans plus the location for a water cooler makes it difficult to maintain positive pressure when the water coolers fans are blowing air out, leading to a large accumulation of dust inside of the case. I have to blow it out every few months.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent case for the price

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Easy cable management and access to the case - fairly light. Good airflow and ventilation. Priced competitively.

Cons: Drive sleds are flimsy low quality plastic and don't stay secured in place. They easily jiggle free. Case doesn't rest flat when laying on its side on a table - it has a wobble due to the design - need to prop it with a book or magazine.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: great room for a mid sized case, plenty of expansion room for more fans/hdds etc. removable hdd cages are a big plus for larger gpus. Really liked the white colored fans and the fact they can be turned off.

Cons: front case fan controller doesn't work but no biggie. I enjoyed every other feature that I didn't let that take away a egg.

2 out of 5 eggsEverything on the case fried.

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: *Worked wonderfully when it was working.
*Nice air flow
*Sweet looks

Cons: *Everything inside the case fried after average use. This case did not last even a year.
I have to open the case up and manually press my mother board in order to turn on the computer itself. The side fans don't work since everything in the case is fried.

Other Thoughts: I paid $100 at the time, and it broke in less than a year. I'm not made of money, and I cannot afford to purchase another ~$80 case. Incredibly disappointed in this product.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Attractive design, cable management, plenty of fans and still quiet.

Cons: I thought the cable management was a bit tight, additionally I wasn't able to find where to plug in the power button LED light but I couldn't be bothered to fiddle with that.

Other Thoughts: I moved the two rear fans up to the top so that my H60 water cooler could mount nicely. I needed a better case with ventilation for my hard drives which were running hot and this did just the job.

5 out of 5 eggsBought two of these. Fantastic products

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Nicely built. Looks amazing. It was perfect for me because it is 1-1.5 inches narrower in the bottom width which made it fit perfectly with my computer desk ( i have a guitar pedal board on the floor). Very spacy.

I have a master and a slave machine both in these beautiful cases.
H100i Liquid cooling fits perfectly and there is also space to put one more upper case fan (above the two in the front) which make for cold air two flow in.

Cons: One of the cases had a loose screw on the side but no biggy...

Other Thoughts: Here is my configuration:
i7 5820k OCed to 4.4 GHz
GTX 980 TI
64 gb ddr4 2800 Mhz ram
5 SSDs 2 HDDs
MOBO: Asrock x99x killer
1000w G2 Supernova PSU

Everything fit perfectly

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but not perfect

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very solid construction
Quiet, LED-lit fans included
Subtle, tasteful good looks
Large for a mid tower (fits large graphics cards & CPU coolers)
Easy, no-problem installation of MB and disc and optical drives
Excellent cooling, yet quiet
No adapter needed to install SSD

Cons: The biggest problem I have with the case is the design of the right side panel and the cable management. The cables route nicely through grommet-protected ports in the inner "bulkhead," so that's no problem by itself. But the panel on that side of the case (actually both sides, but the right side is where it matters) has a bulge - presumably to make room for cables. However, this bulge slopes inward and terminates right on top of where all of the motherboard and fan cables come through the inner bulkhead, right next to the 3.5" drive bays and the SATA cables coming from them. What you get is a mass of cables being smushed into a relatively small area. Placing the right side panel on after building my system reminded me of the cartoonish scenario of sitting on an over-filled suitcase in order to latch it no matter how I arranged the cables with zip ties. Almost none of my cables actually utilize the bulge in the right side panel - it's practically empty.

The other annoying, but not deal-breaking problem I had was that the back end of some rivets poked up through the bottom of the case at the PSU mounting location. Basically, little tubes of metal that were higher than the rubber pads that the PSU is supposed to sit on to dampen noise. I scratched up my PSU at first trying to line up the mounting holes because I didn't realize it was actually sitting on these metal rivets. I filed down the rivets so they were finally lower than the rubber pads, so problem solved, but I should not have had to do that, and my PSU is scratched up now. I don't care at all about looks/scratches, but I know a lot of enthusiasts are.

Lastly, I would liked to have connected the case fans directly to the fan terminals on my Asus Z97-A motherboard in order to fully utilize automated cooling and overclocking, but the fan cables are designed to work the manual fan speed switch on the front of the case. I probably could have figured out how cut the cables and buy/install the proper connectors onto the cables for use with the MB terminals, but I admit I did not attempt this. Would be nice if Corsair included some adapters to go from the factory connectors to MB connectors. This isn't a big deal, I just use the manual switch instead, which works fine.

Other Thoughts: This is only the second system I have ever built for myself, so I don't have a lot of experience. Take my criticisms with a grain of salt. This is an excellent case that worked wonderfully for me. My biggest hope doing this system was that I could get a moderately (not extremely) well performing system without any major problems, and this case fit that bill perfectly. Everything went together correctly the first time and has worked almost flawlessly for about six months now.

This case
i5 4690k w/ Hyper 212 Evo cooler
Asus Z97-A MB
Asus R9 290 Graphics
One SSD, Two HDDs
