Great gaming systems begin with a great case, and the Carbide Series 300R provides a remarkable number of in-demand features in an attractive, compact chassis. Builder-friendly features include three tool-free optical drive bays and four tool-free hard drive bays with integrated 2.5" SSD compatibility. There's room for high-end GPUs of up to 450mm in length, and the matte black interior incorporates Corsair's innovative cable routing system that helps keep wires and cables out of sight for a clean look and improved airflow. The 300R comes with intake and exhaust fans, with room for five additional fans including dual side-mounted fans for direct GPU cooling.

The Carbide Series 300R hits the mark for an affordable, enthusiast-quality compact PC case. Its innovative features will be appreciated by both seasoned system builders and PC gamers who are taking the leap and building their first system from scratch.

  • newegg Serious cooling potential The 300R is equipped with two fans for intake and exhaust, and the integrated dust filters on the front and bottom intakes are easy removable. There's room for you to install five more fans, including mounting points for two side panel 120mm fans for drawing cool air directly over your GPUs. If you're building a multi-GPU gaming rig, proper graphics ventilation is essential.
  • newegg It's big where it counts Despite its size, the 300R can fit extra-long graphics cards of up to 450mm length, and it has three optical drive bays and four hard drive bays. All the bays all tool-free, and the hard drive bays have integrated support for 2.5" drives, so you won't need to deal with adapters when installing SSDs
  • newegg Build quality The 300R has the smart features that matter. Just like the drive bays, the side panels are tool-free, so you'll spend less quality time with your screwdriver. The black painted interior has a CPU cutout for quick installing or upgrading of CPU heatsinks, and Corsair's innovative cable management system provides a straightforward way to route cables behind the motherboard, not across it where it can interfere with airflow and give your system a cluttered look.

3 out of 5 eggsdecent case when on sale

Pros: Decent construction. Rounded edges. SSD compatible trays. Easy to remove 5.25-inch covers. Two fans included. HD trays require no tools. Rear slot covers require no tools.

Cons: Space behind hard drive is too tight, requiring right-angle SATA cables for SSD and HD. Power cables had to be bent so who knows if there will be an issue in the future. One motherboard screw mounting point was not aligned properly so I had to skip one. To remove the mesh covers you have to bend several areas. This is not a good design for keeping the system dust free. Those bend points will snap eventually. The doors are not precision shaped so putting the cover back on is always a challenge in making sure all notches are pushed down on a semi warped door panel... I would only buy this case again if it was on sale with free shipping.

Other Thoughts: I added two LED fans to the top for color. I wish they would have given us two fans in the front and not just one. I opted not to add another in front of the hard drives but I might need one in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case

Pros: Very well built case. Its simple, but very modular at the same time. Cannot go wrong on the price

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: This case is worth more then the price. I could not believe how well made it was. They got it right on this one.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Picked this case up on sale for $50. I would have payed the $70 for it anyways. I downsized from a CM Cosmos. Personally, I feel this case is actually superior to the $200+ Cosmos (at the time I bought it, which it has been discontinued for a while.) The case arrived undamaged and with all parts. The build quality vs cost is excellent. CPU and MB temps have dropped 15F and 10F respectively vs. the Cosmos with the same amount of fans (7) in each, granted I put 6 brand new Cougar 140mm in the 300R.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Would have been nice to get a USB 3.0 to 2.0 adapter for the front panel or at the very least have the option to buy one from Corsair or another vendor; so far I have been unable to find one for sale. No loss on eggs though as I was fully aware that said adapter was not included.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Lots of room, no tools required for drives, plenty of drive bays, lots of cooling options, great looks, good build quality. USB 3.0 on the front panel.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Got it on sale plus a mail in rebate so it was a good deal. I have done 3 other builds with different cases from Newegg. This is buy far the best case from a build quality and functionality perspective.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Great minimal looking case with no annoying lights. Plenty of ventilation. The fans on the side panel are positioned next to the the GPU(s) which is great for keeping your graphics card(s) cool. Bottom mount also helps the PSU remain cool. No sharp edges and assembly was simple with plenty of cable routing options. The back PCI punch-outs are even replaceable. Comes with black fan screws to match the case. I found that out after I installed all the fans with silver screws, d'oh!

Cons: Careful tightening down the fans on the top wire mesh. It bends easily.

Other Thoughts: Great modest case that provides great ventilation. Perfect for those running SLI/Crossfire or just overclock and want the extra cooling.

My system (so far):
ASRock 970 Extreme4
4Gb 1333mhz DDR3 G.Skill Memory
Crossfired Radeon 7850's
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
ThermalTake TR2 600W PSU
Old Seagate SATA HDD

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control

Pros: Good looking case, roomy inside for cable management

Cons: As the title says, poor quality control. My case was packaged & shipped with one missing rubber foot. It looks like it was never attached from the assembly factory - wasn't floating around in the packaging so it didn't fall off in transit. Has there of the four need to keep it from wobbling one the floor. This eliminates me putting it on my desk like I wanted to.

Pros: Roomy case, decent design, black interior is aesthetically pleasing.

Cons: The left side panel was slightly distended but not enough for it to matter.

5 out of 5 eggs300R on sale = mine...

Pros: almost big enough, instead of all 140mms in the front and back, depending on cooling you might need some 120mm instead. light weight but solid.
(Pros and Cons are indeed the same to me in this brief review)

Cons: almost big enough, instead of all 140mms in the front and back, depending on cooling you might need some 120mm instead. light weight but solid.
(Pros and Cons are indeed the same to me in this brief review)

Other Thoughts: decided to go with this as I sold my Asgard Pro 3.0 and since the Asgard Pro went up in price the 300R now is the move..

2x 140mm fans in the front are doable easy, but I didn't want dual blue LED's in front so I have the top front 140mm blue and the bottom is basic 140mm (black).

the top part is where it got interesting..
top front can't be a 140mm fan if you have your optical drive in the top 5.25' bay, it has to be a 120mm because it will block the optical from seating correctly and flush.
the back top fan can't be a 140mm if mounting a H60 or H80 rad in the back slot. the length again of the 140mm fan will block install of this configurations as well.
so to counter this I swapped the fan controller in the top 5.25 bay
and the optical is now in bay #2, the 140mm top/front stays.
currently back on air so I'm using a 140mm fan in the back/front as well
but I did have to use the 120mm fan in the back/front when closed looped / rad.

side fans not need to blow on GPU's, unit runs cool and aftermarket coolers on hardware anyways.

no fan slot on the bottom next to PSU but I'm cool, no big deal, case has feet..
for me 2 x 2.5" drives and 3.5" drive for OS and storage so the caddy was nice.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Sharp edges

Pros: This is the cleanest case I have ever worked with. NO sharp edges anywhere and every surface was painted. Machining was excellent! Sturdy. very pleased.

Cons: A handle on the top of the case for easy maneuvering would be nice!

Other Thoughts: Honestly in 20 years this is the finest case I have ever worked in. It is better then many of the more expensive cases. I'm the guy who always finds the edges and for once could find any.
