Great gaming systems begin with a great case, and the Carbide Series 300R provides a remarkable number of in-demand features in an attractive, compact chassis. Builder-friendly features include three tool-free optical drive bays and four tool-free hard drive bays with integrated 2.5" SSD compatibility. There's room for high-end GPUs of up to 450mm in length, and the matte black interior incorporates Corsair's innovative cable routing system that helps keep wires and cables out of sight for a clean look and improved airflow. The 300R comes with intake and exhaust fans, with room for five additional fans including dual side-mounted fans for direct GPU cooling.

The Carbide Series 300R hits the mark for an affordable, enthusiast-quality compact PC case. Its innovative features will be appreciated by both seasoned system builders and PC gamers who are taking the leap and building their first system from scratch.

  • newegg Serious cooling potential The 300R is equipped with two fans for intake and exhaust, and the integrated dust filters on the front and bottom intakes are easy removable. There's room for you to install five more fans, including mounting points for two side panel 120mm fans for drawing cool air directly over your GPUs. If you're building a multi-GPU gaming rig, proper graphics ventilation is essential.
  • newegg It's big where it counts Despite its size, the 300R can fit extra-long graphics cards of up to 450mm length, and it has three optical drive bays and four hard drive bays. All the bays all tool-free, and the hard drive bays have integrated support for 2.5" drives, so you won't need to deal with adapters when installing SSDs
  • newegg Build quality The 300R has the smart features that matter. Just like the drive bays, the side panels are tool-free, so you'll spend less quality time with your screwdriver. The black painted interior has a CPU cutout for quick installing or upgrading of CPU heatsinks, and Corsair's innovative cable management system provides a straightforward way to route cables behind the motherboard, not across it where it can interfere with airflow and give your system a cluttered look.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst case, very great

Pros: Lots of room for cable management, easy to side or top mount fans or radiators.

Cons: It was hard to install my SSD to the removable drive bay, (I tried with all four) but you can do it. I would prefer two stock fans at the front of the case, but neither are enough to drop an egg

Other Thoughts: As with every case, the front panel connectors were a pain, but other wise a great case to start with!

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mid Tower

Pros: -Enough room for most builds.
-Lots of airflow.
-Able to mount 120mm -140mm fans.
-Plenty of room for most CPU coolers.
-Plenty of room for massive GPUs.
-Plenty of room for huge PSUs.
-Comes couple silent Corsair fans.
-Great design overall.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I am using 300R for my secondary build (pure AMD build). I have enough room for just about everything including 2 R9 290s and a huge EVGA SuperNova 1300W G2. If I have enough room, I'm sure you won't have problems fitting anything. Overall it's nice non flashy Mid Tower Case.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair - 300R

Pros: Great case with lots of room. Not flashly but a good solid case with most of the features you would expect in better cases.

Cons: No grommets in cable management holes - minor item.

2 out of 5 eggsGood case layout, bad screwholes though

Pros: The case layout is great, and you can buy a cheap kit that adds four extra hard drive rails for a total of 8 drives you can mount inside the case. It has great airflow, and a great layout.

Cons: The screwholes for the motherboard stripped out on all but two of them inside of my case. I've only mounted one motherboard inside of the case before the holes stripped out, and when I went to swap motherboards I discovered the stripped out holes. I've never used more force than required to mount the motherboard...I always do about 1/8th of an extra turn past snug. Because of this problem I have to spend $30-40 to ship the case back to Corsair for RMA, and for just a few bucks more I can buy a new case instead. I tried searching for some screws that would fit the now wider holes but I can't find any that are small enough to fit through the motherboard mounting holes. As much as I like Corsair's products, I'm seeing some patterns now that I don't like and I believe I'm about to start moving away from their products and look elsewhere for my PC components.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent case

Pros: I purchased this case for a friends new PC build upon learning he wanted a case that wasn't a full tower but still capable of holding a robust gaming configuration. This case was a pleasure to work with as it provided ample room for components and is made of high quality materials. Of particular note is how useful the cable management ports are for maintaining good airflow for the system it will contain. While it's true that the holes for the cables lack rubber grommets of pricier cases, this didn't pose a problem for my use of them.

The front five and a quarter panels are easy to add and remove components from by use of a plastic latch system that is easily accessed from the side of the chassis.

Seven fan mount locations should provide enough air cooling for most users. The locations are two below the five and a quarter drive slots, two side, one rear, and two along the top. The only possible missing hard-points would be along the bottom to push air vertically out of the case.

Overall this is one of the best PC cases for the <$100 bracket. It seems as though Corsair took a much pricier design and kept it's basic features and chassis, and performed some minor cost-cutting measures upon it to create this product.

Cons: The side panels are the old style of fitting horizontally along rails of the chassis and take some work to mount perfectly in order to prevent warping. This is a smaller issue, but I wish they would have used a door-style fitting that many Antec cases use.

Also, the drive brackets are on the flimsy side of quality. They work fine for HDDs and SSDs but I would have expected higher quality materials from such an otherwise high quality product.

It'd be nice if the case had two USB 2.0 ports on the front panel along with the included two USB 3.0 ports.

4 out of 5 eggsNice case

Pros: -Airflow, sturdy, looks nice

-Barely big enough to fit an Enermax ETS-T40 CPU cooler, and that's nearly as tall as they come.

-You can replace CPU coolers with back plates with the MOBO in place, which is much more convenient.

Cons: -The bottom PSU air filter slides right out for cleaning, but the front one requires you to take the front off and bend some tabs to remove it.

-Do not recommend if you plan on swapping HDDs often. The tool-less system works fine, but you have to take them in and out the one side, and it's very difficult to access the cables without taking off the other side panel as well, esp. with multiple drives installed. And the side panels can be a pain to get back on.

-The front audio connector cable isn't long enough to reach on my motherboard and still be routed ideally in the back, though it does barely reach.

Other Thoughts: I don't regret buying, though I was under the impression that the front dust filter could be more easily removed.

5 out of 5 eggsI Like This Case

Pros: Good build quality for the price!
Good room inside for Mid-Tower!
Great ventilation/cooling capability!
Great looking!

Cons: If it is a con, I have to pull front off of case to clean about every 2 weeks cause the airflow is so good, but it keeps a lot out of my case. :)

Other Thoughts: This is the second 300R that I have used in a build. One was for a video editing PC and the other for a friend's build. I love the look, simple but yet functional. The front audio jacks are pretty good quality, no buzzing extra noise. USB 3.0 on the front. Good space inside for a mid-tower case. Fan filter on bottom for PSU fan. Overall a solid mid-tower case from Corsair.

5 out of 5 eggsA fine case

Pros: Easy to install components, easy to manage cables, good airflow, looks good, good quality

This was my first build, and this was a great case with which I learned to build a PC. I'm really glad I bought it.

Cons: None, I really liked it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case, but the packaging bots need some help.

Pros: Great case overall - lots of ventilation options, cord management is top notch, and it looks great. So many places for fans, it's perfect as an enclosure to keep fingers out of stuff while allowing lots of cool air to flow. Front comes off easily to mount a second fan, and there's nothing in the way of air movement.

Cons: The one and only con is that the packaging only includes one extra standoff, when you need two to mount a Micro-ATX motherboard. They fixed it by sending out a parts pack at no charge, but it's an oversight that wastes time and money for both parties. I totally won't take an egg off for that since it's still a fantastic case.

Other Thoughts: The RMA process is overbearing and shouldn't be required for one tiny standoff. Not only that, but instead of sending out one standoff they sent an entire parts package - I'm not complaining about extra parts but it makes it feel like they're not caring about the product as much as they could. Still, I would totally buy another one of these cases (and a bunch of extra standoffs) since Corsair does make great stuff!
