5 out of 5 eggsAmazing case!

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: Great case. Exactly as advertised. Huge open airflow. Even though its classified as a midtower it has more room than any full tower case ive ever had.

Cons: Only con i can really think of about this case may be the fans. They are not very high end. They are only DC controlled not PWM as I had hoped. If it was written somewhere saying that I must have missed it. But I bought 2x Noctua NF-P14s redux-1500 PWM and put them as the intake on the front and moved the two stock fans to the top for exhaust. Seems to work amazingly. I put a couple of little plastic streamers inside and you can easily see an updraft of air moving through the case.
Also not really a con but you have to unscrew the top panel and remove it to get the front panel off to get to the filter..

Other Thoughts: Great case. Easy to open and adjust to your likes. Nice ruberized feel on the outside texture of the case panels front and top.

4 out of 5 eggsFavorite case I've worked with

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: 1. SO MUCH SPACE! Seriously though, there is a lot of space, and a lot of cable management options for this case. You can also remove the external drive cage, and any unused SSD cages for even more space.
2. The hot-swap drive bays are great for my 3.5" storage HDDs.
3. Installing my radiator was super easy.
4. The front panel lights are subtle compared to a lot of other cases I've worked on.

Cons: 1. Lacking filters. I'm okay with the fact that it comes stock with just one filter, but for a high airflow case I would expect Corsair to at least make/sell their own filters for it. Instead they direct you to a third party vendor, and the reviews on those filters leave the impression that they're worse than the one that came with it.
2. The adjustable PSU support bracket didn't fit properly with my PSU, and it got in the way of one of the hot-swappable cable sets.

Other Thoughts: At the time of this review I've got two 3.5 HDDs, 1 SSD, my graphics card, and a Corsair H100i in this case. I plan on adding another graphics card and I don't forsee any space issues with that.

I took one egg off because of the lack of additional OEM filters. The one included on the front panel is a good balance of airflow and filtration. I think Corsair could make a better product than the third party filters out there.

To get around the lack of filters, and to help with incrased case pressure, I put clear packing tape over the various extra vent holes on the inside. I still have unfiltered air coming into the radiator and PSU, and some coming in through the PCI slot shields. Covering up what I did definitely helped create a positive pressure which is helping somewhat with the unfiltered holes.

That issue aside I strongly recommend this case to anyone who has the room for it. Is it wider than a case needs to be? Definitely, but it looks really nice sitting next to my desk regardless.

5 out of 5 eggsto infinity and beyond

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: this case has so much space the possibilities are endless there is room for everything even liquid cooling with lots of room to spare

Cons: sideways drive bays

Other Thoughts: the case should be about 2 inches wider so the drive bays are horizontal instead of vertical

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case! One omission prevents it from becoming a must-buy.

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: Don't take my short list of pros as a bad thing -- this case is great. It looks great, it has fantastic airflow and temperatures (I threw an MSI GTX 970 in there and it maxed out at 55C), the build quality is good, cable management is the easiest thing in the world, and it has a variety of fan and radiator mount options. If your chief concern is low temperatures, or if you want a case that's very easy to build in and looks unique, look no farther.

Cons: DEMCIFlex and Corsair conspired to make this case.
The lack of dust filters is very odd on a case at this price range. It only includes a front filter, yet there are several other places that need filtration. The top is unfiltered (I know top filters are personal preference, but I would prefer to not have dust settle in my case when it's off), the power supply is unfiltered (what are you thinking, Corsair?) the bottom below the hard drive sleds is wide open, and another gap in the rear of the drive compartment which also serves as intake for your PSU remains unfiltered. Cases as low as $90 come fully dustproofed (looking at you, arc midi R2), so not even having a PSU filter is very questionable, and at a $120 price tag I can reasonably expect fully dustproofed intakes and top. Also, a minor complaint, but there's still plenty of room above the SSD cage in the rear compartment for another drive compartment. I would have liked to see an extra rack for 3.5" drives, and there's enough room for two or three 3.5" drives. Not a deal-breaker by any means, but it's just wasted space.

Other Thoughts: If Corsair were to seal off the bottom, add a 3.5" drive cage above the SSD cage (or below it and put the SSDs on top), and add dust filters for the top, PSU, and drive compartment, this case would be a 10/10, especially for $110-120. As-is, it's an 8/10.

1 out of 5 eggsCool Engineering Meets Practicality Nightmare

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: Love the design and layout on airflow, the split case for Mobo / Power Supply - love the matte finish

Cons: The HDD Slide in trays snapped, does not fit EVGA 1600G2 no matter how I try, the SATA / Power connectors for HDD trays are non-functional (could be a bad out-of-the-box mobo)

Other Thoughts: I want to love this box, but my most recent build has been a complete trainwreck, the snapping of the HDD carriages was just icing on the cake - blind rage gives this 1 egg.

5 out of 5 eggsA pleasure to worrk with

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: I just finished my build over the weekend using this case. The thought put into the design is apparent once you start to work with it. I've never had such an easy time making things so clean and tidy, I'm impressed. Its solidly built, organized, good airflow, intelligent layout, there really isn't anything more one can ask for a case.

Cons: It has a large foot print. This is not a problem for me, I have the space, it is about 1.3 to 1.4 x the footprint of a regular tower, so if you are hurting for space this is something to consider. Other than this, there really is no con to this case.

Other Thoughts: It has a great manual too, overall it was just a pleasure to work with.
