5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: I bought this case for a new build I have been working on. I wanted a case that could easily fit a NZXT Kraken X60. The case is sturdy and very open. Plus, I love the open side panel so one can have a clear view of what you put into it.

Cons: None so far. Will continue to update.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: This is almost the perfect case for the PC hobbyist/enthusiast with multiple purposes from overclocking to gaming. It is spacious without being too large (wider than a normal ATX tower, but not as deep front-to-back as other cases). The interior is spacious and easy to work in, and the build quality seems pretty good. Massive amount of airflow; ideal for big air coolers or liquid cooler radiators. Unique look.

Cons: There is a lot of wasted space in the chamber behind the motherboard (where the power supply, 5.25" bays, and SSD cage are located). Corsair should have included another cage for 3.5" HDDs. It will be a few years before we can completely abandon mechanical hard drives. Also, having the two HDD slots for the SATA backplane at the bottom of the main chamber isn't a great design, as graphics cards will push hot air on to HDDs.

Other Thoughts: Corsair should consider releasing an Obsidian version of this case with less plastic (more steel/aluminum would be nice for a more premium look, for which I am willing to pay), an additional cage for 3.5" HDDs (even if it means widening the case some more). This case could be perfect with a few changes...

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: NONE - Corsair has been a disappointment. My luck cannot be this bad. The only explanation is that the quality of Corsair products has severely dropped.

Cons: Up till now I have been a hard core Corsair supporter until my last purchase. I built a new machine from ground up. And all but 1 of my Corsair branded items were defective in one way or another. I ended up shipping most of it back and getting different branded items. I will List below what I purchased from Corsair and what I ended up replacing it with. In summary Corsiar has lost a customer. I will no longer hold Corsair in high esteem. They must have changed the manufacturing or moved it to a different country or facility but I've lost faith in them and will no longer purchase Corsair products.

1.) Corsair AXI series AX860I Power supply
Issue: The 24pin mother board cable would not stay plugged in and would creep out of the power supply itself. Basically the plug itself was poorly manufacturerd. Where the clip clips onto the power supply was straight and not angled so that it could latch on.
Replaced with: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 p3 80 plus Platinum 1000w PSU
LOVE IT!!!... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVGA!!!...

2.) Corsair Carbide Series Air 540:
Video card would not bolt down without pulling the video card out of the slot. Basically the case is built so cheaply that if you looked at the back it bowed outward from the case enough that the components would not bolt in. The case would rock when sitting on a flat surface due to the cheap nature of this case. Additionally the case side panel would not shut flush when reassembled.
Replaced with: Cooler Master Cosmos II... LOVE IT!!!... but one major MAJOR complaint on the Cosmos II... THE MOTHER BOARD SCREWS ARE HORRIBLE!!!...

3.) Corsair HYDRO H110 Extreme performance water/liquid CPU cooler.
Fans are absolute Junk... This thing does not cool better than my old Corsair hydro 80. The fans make horrible grinding noises which will need to be replaced. I will not PURCHASE fans to fix this problem I WILL EXPECT corsair to send me new fans. I did not replace this item, but I can tell you the quality does not impress me on this either. The heatsink portion of this cooler is not flush flat, it actually has a concave bow to it. Very disappointing. I will most likely continue to keep an eye on my temp's until I can afford to replace it with another brand.

4.) Corsiar Dominator Platinum 8GB (2x4GB) x 2. So far so good... I will not hold my breathe at this point. If they go bad I will make sure that Corsair at least lives up to their warranty and get them replaced if I have any issues.

Other Thoughts: This has been a fair unbiased review. I have been an A+ certified technician since 2000. I have been building gaming systems for years. Never have I ever had an issue like this where I have had so many bad parts from one vendor in my history of building computers. The MASSIVE inconvenience cost me more money than I wanted to spend because all of these parts have a limited return policy. So I had to out of pocket a lot of money to get this system up and running to make sure all my components were good to stay within my return policy so that if any other parts were bad i could exchange them.

Corsair... get your act together. DO NOT be like all these companies who build a name and them try and go cheap based on GREED... we the customers will NOT tolerate this. I will NOT purchase anymore Corsair branded products for years to come. When you failed other brands saved the Day Such as EVGA & Cooler Master. This has been one of the worst building experiences I've yet had.
POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS...
My view of Corsair as of now is BUYER BEWARE... If any of you have also had the same issues please post them to help other customers avoid the nightmare I went through and tell Corsair we will NOT tolerate poor quality!!!...

4 out of 5 eggsInteresting design pulled through

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: Love the change in design from normal cases, temps definitely are better than my regular towers. Really like how the H110 mounts up perfectly

Cons: wish there was a way to setup an intake on the power supply side besides the psu fan just for peace of mind. You could probably mod in an 80mm or 92mm but that would destroy the silence of this case. havent had any heat issues on that side but just peace of mind like I said.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case!

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: easy cable management, every thing fits wonderfully, plenty of room to mount a 240mm radiator/fan on top and a push/pull set up without any issues of space. Love having all peripherals on the back side of the case to keep the front side with mobo and vid card free of cable clutter

Cons: 2 5.25 hdd trays at bottom of case which is great except one of the trays is in a spot that makes it a real pain to hook up the cables to the psu because the cables feed out to where your psu is...i had to take that bay out because it was unusable due to above reason

Other Thoughts: Overall great case for the price and very well setup to fit anything you could want in it

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: very spacious , very easy to keep your cables out of site . Lots of cooling options .

Cons: 1, No filters on the bottom, infact giant cut outs let in all kind of dust - buy 140mm magnetic fan filters , they fit perfectly under the case and also on the inside of the left panel for the PSU intake.
2. SSD cage feels very cheap - also sits almost on the power supply . remove and zip tie 6'' higher on the perforated grill - looks stock and will keep the heat rising from the PSU away from your SSD's.

Other Thoughts: I thought about adding a small fan between the PSU and my relocated SSD cage but I have 7 140mm Noctua fans already in the case (5 Noctua redux's in the case and two Noctua Industrial PPC black's on the cpu cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair rocks when it comes to PC cases

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: 6/5 eggs.... I added another egg simply because this case is amazing. Great design, awesome airflow, the best cable management. I honestly can not think of one bad thing not even the littlest thing wrong with this case. It's not your average case it's about two towers side by side wide but space isn't a concern to me when it comes to max air flow

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsMostly good, some bad

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: Good airflow. Good looks. Enough space for whatever you want to throw at it. Gets a lot of attention, mainly because of size, but also looks like an Enterprise class server case. Overall very good and I have been happy to have this case. I have only a few specific cons and I'll list them instead. Everything else is good about this case.

Cons: - Some rattling. I have tighhtened all the screws, however due to flex of the various panels, they seem to have some room, and hence rattle during operation.
- The front USB ports have some issues with any device I connect to them, they get disconnected/connected intermittently.
- Space for only 3.5" hard drives. I didn't know this before buying and had to buy an external enclosure to fit all my hard drives. I think a case this big should have space for more.
- Large size. Although I am listing it in the cons, I kind of also have it in the pros. I personally don't have much gripe about the size but other people should really consider the size before buying.

5 out of 5 eggsCarbide Air 540 case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: Great air flow/cooling, very easy to hide/route cables for a clean install. Would highly recommend this case to anyone looking for a roomy case with great airflow. The front air filter is a great touch, nice to know dust will not be a factor for the intake fans.

Cons: The hard drive cage mounts in the front of the case have tabs that can be easily broken if you are not careful.

Other Thoughts: Not really a con but be careful how large (thick) of a rad you use on top or you will run into clearance issues up top. I am using a Alphacool Nexxos ST30 with 2x140mm fans up top with no clearance issues. With the MSI Z97 Gaming 7 the ST60 was too thick with the fans for clearance.

4 out of 5 eggsNOT E-ATX or 12x13 READY

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (CC-9011030-WW) Black Steel / Plastic ATX Cube High Airflow Cube Case

Pros: Solid, quick, well laid. HYOOOGE tracts of fans.
Adjustable large supply retainer with two screws.
Comes in a no-mar cloth bag.
Heavier metal construction, no real warp when pressured.
Will survive being drilled and threaded to put standoffs where they need to go.

Cons: Comes in a static generating no-mar bag fitted with styrofoam in a cardboard box with high metal content. Open it outside away from electronics and combustibles, my arm is STILL numb from the discharge as I write this.

Is NOT E-ATX ready, only has "full" ATX screw holes.
Is about 1mm short of clearance for a 12x13 board.

Other Thoughts: Newegg used to have a good grasp of what the term "server" meant, now it gets slapped on everything from fans to mousepads.
