4 out of 5 eggsNice case with very few short comings

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 CC-9011034-WLED Silver Steel ATX Cube Computer Case

Pros: It's light weight, much smaller in form factor than I had expected, that is ultimately what I wanted. I have moved away from colossal nose bleed height towers that could easily double as a boat anchor due to their weight.
This case maintain's its heritage of wire management that I became accustomed to with the Corsair 800D case (very heavy case!).
The interior is minimalist which I really like. The other side of the case opposite the motherboard conceals the power supply and other mounting areas.
The price is good, the components all fit in well with no slop.

Cons: One area I find lacking in all cases, not just this one, is a unified airflow.
Apple computer had the right idea in their trash can design, forcing air over the parts in a single (unified) direction that does not conflict with the tall surfaces such as long cards, this aids in cooling and reducing the need for constant high speed fan action.

This case suffers from a schizophrenic venting problem and i'm sure it will still work but won't work as well as a case designed with heat distribution in mind (hot air goes up, not sideways!).
Update:
It turns out I had to improvise some mounting for the SSD's, the supplied mounting points are not compatible. The backplane ports on the bottom do at least fit the drives properly but they need a shim to keep the drive level with the connector.

Other Thoughts: It is mostly tool-less but you may want to acquire a compact lithium powered driver with magnetic interchangeable tip on it for convenience.
I have not tested it as of yet due to a problem with an incompatible heatsink (it's an issue with the mobo, not the case), I suspect this case will suffer the same problems as all other cases, including corsair - in that the claimed SSD support will be bogus.
I'm not new to system building, i've been doing this a very long time and every product that claimed SSD compatibility with their mounting hardware turned out to be blatant lie.
I am still optimistic that SSD's will fit in there without me having to velcro or improv some other kind of mounting system. Plan B is still velcro! :D

I only give it 4 out of 5 stars due to my opinion regarding ventilation design issues and the expected problem of mounting SSD drives.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't listen to the other reviews!!

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 CC-9011034-WLED Silver Steel ATX Cube Computer Case

Pros: I Love this case, the design is amazing, your heat generating components on one side and non-heat generating on the other. It will hold an extended ATX mother board inside a mid-sized case.
Big window to show off your expensive parts!

Cons: Since Newegg just send the Corsair box and not a box of their own I didn't get the coupon flyer that normally has 20% off for a week from purchase, but that isn't Corsairs fault so minus 0 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I have been eye-balling this case for like a year and a half. Now if you are new to computers or this sight, make sure you weed through the reviews, if I were to have gone on reviews alone I probably wouldn't have bought this case. Everyone is so picky and whiney on this sight and most oh the whining is due to fan noise. Like bro, I don't understand why people buy a 980 GTX graphics card then cry because it isn't dead silent, if you want your PC to be completely quiet get a tablet... well maybe not that far but don't try to get the biggest and best cards and expect them not to need a lot of cooling power, Grr. Sorry bothers me so much.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 CC-9011034-WLED Silver Steel ATX Cube Computer Case

Pros: Great for separating wires from components.
HDD bays for 2.5" drives are good.

Cons: No HDD bays for 3.5" drives.
Not a fan of the vertical disk drive mounting.

Other Thoughts: Bigger than I thought it would be. But it does have alot of space for adding things to it like massive CPU Coolers (Noctua NH-D14 fits with space to spare)

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Carbide Series Air 540 CC-9011034-WLED Silver Steel ATX Cube Computer Case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 CC-9011034-WLED Silver Steel ATX Cube Computer Case

Pros: Absolutely love this case! I plan on modding this out more and will update review to suit if time provides. Great airflow, just know the PSU compartment can get a little stagnant with a PSU that doesn't turn it's fan on until a late load, but not too big of an issue! Great case, amazing room and definitely owns the Mid-Tower bracket for easy of use, space to work, and just outstanding form.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Just wish the secondary compartment had an easy way of moving air into it without modification but not worth a knock. 5 egggz.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair 540 AKA "The Fridge"

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 CC-9011034-WLED Silver Steel ATX Cube Computer Case

Pros: Spacious, luxurious, not to mention sturdy, and designed with straight-forward cooling flow in mind with the opportunity to add two more additional 140mm fans if you wanted on the case's top interior. While some may consider it a con that it's "too boxy", to each their own. In my opinion, it reminds me of a miniature fridge, hence why I've decided on calling it "The Fridge". The fact that it does such a great job in keeping the system on point with low temps is not a joke however; this thing is the real deal in air flow efficiency.

USB 3.0 ready on the front ports too, just two however, but still amazing considering that it shows that this case is ready to help you set your foot into the future.

Wire management is incredibly user friendly. The stout, wider design allows the motherboard and all your PC's parts to be the star and showcased while the wiring and cables are literally tucked away in yet another spacious area for you to do all the tidying up.

This case's shorter stature is but an illusion. This is a mid-sized ATX Cube design with the heart and soul (functionality, too) of a full-sized ATX tower. If and when you get your hands on this case, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. It comes in presumably small, but once you get into it, you realize that there is so much space and versatility through design inside of it you'll think you were working with a full-sized case.

Cons: Pretty hard to miss at first glance until you really get your hands on this thing, but there is the incredibly opened up space just underneath the HDD bays. It's not a huge con but it's certainly something I've had to come to terms with. Perhaps it helps benefit the airflow design? I'm not entirely sure but that's the only issue I have with this case.

The one other thing I hate to point out is that while the entirety of this case is sturdy and well made, the HDD bays, and I believe the SSD mounts as well, feel just a bit weaker in comparison. I'm confident they wouldn't break unless I really tried to break them but the construction of these mounts being made of plastic while a vast majority of this case is metal had me scratching my head a bit. Again, it doesn't deter my thoughts on this wonderful case, it's just a concern and by no means a deal breaker.

Other Thoughts: Where has this case been all my life?

After years of Frankenstein-ing factory-made PC's just to get by, I don't think I can ever punish myself to do that sort of thing any longer because of this case. This is the case of my dreams. It's also the first case I've picked up in nearly 14 years to make me this excited about building PCs again. You can bet that if I had to burn another hole in my wallet for this case, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I originally was looking at the NXZT Phantom (don't get me wrong, that's also a beautiful case) but I soon realized that I didn't want something with such a huge profile, but nothing so short or tiny that it wouldn't accommodate plans to do some exciting things to mod it out if I wanted to.

Also, while this case has a great amount of flexibility in design and the wire/cable management is phenomenal, do yourself a favor and purchase a modular PSU just for the sake of sanity and convenience.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It!

Pros: I love this case, havent had an issue
Sleek look (i chose the gunmetal one)

Other Thoughts: This thing is a beast, so many ways of customizing a build with it.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 CC-9011034-WLED Silver Steel ATX Cube Computer Case

Pros: Spacious, PSU segregated from mobo and gfx cards, excellent wire management, easies installation of all parts

Cons: Some people may not like a cube desktop. I have to antec 900s which are taller but skinnier. Honestly if you have a few more inches of width room, go with this corsair case!

Other Thoughts: I've been building custom desktops for 13 years now, and this is by far one of the easiest cases Ive ever built with. Every connection is as easy as connecting legos. push a button and you can install and remove four 2.5 drives, two 3.5 HDDs, and both 5.25 drive bays. Wire management is amazing with the sleekly designed "pass throughs" from where the PSU is operating in a compartment behind the mother board, giving ample room for heatsinks/fans. I ordered this with the Corsair H110 double 240mm water cooled radiator. Perfect setup at the top of this case. Huge fans included, and a spot for the radiator on the top of the case. And, with big fans you always have dust. I really like the ease of removing the dust cover from the front set of fans. All in all, if you have the space for a little wider build, get this one! It is the best priced I've seen it on Newegg (with the mail in rebate). As usual Newegg is top notch again in customer service as well
