3 out of 5 eggsGreat looking but cramped

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: Looks great
Space well organized

Cons: Almost trashed a Gigabyte z-170 Gaming 7 mobo with a scratch on the board taking it in an out when installing. The space is so cramped that you have to drop the board in perfectly... Had trouble lining up the case screws w/ the holes on the mobo and in moving the board it drifted to where the support screws wandered beyond the metal surrounding the holes... Luckily for me it was just a surface scratch... I repaired the scratch with nail polish, but I am not looking forward to having to remove and reinstall the board if I need to in the future... It's just too risky...

Other Thoughts: Love the look and the open circulation of the case... But if I had to do it over I would have gotten a case with more room, especially at the top where the fan connections are above the CPU... It's really tough accessing the wires at the top of the board, and taking the board in and out is risky... They should have allowed for and inch more or so of extra room at the area where the top of the board is...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product. Easy to set up.

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: Plenty of room for my set up. Cable management was good.

Cons: Sturdy enough as long as you don't get carried away and man handle the screws etc.
I would not take away an egg though.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat looking case but I think I got unlucky.

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: -Sleek black case
-Side panel window if you want to show off your insides
-Pushed out sides for more cable management room
-2 intake fan spots

Cons: Oh man where do I start...
-Red LED strip doesn't work
-Left USB 3.0 port doesn't work
-HDD LED indicator doesn't work
-Headphone and Microphone jacks are twisted together and the microphone jack is receiving audio from the headphone jack. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my friends could hear everything I was doing/listening to on Skype
-Case is kinda tight, plan out your build first before you start putting it together
-Front panel is very hard to take off, it pops off but it causes all sorts of issues. I nearly broke my optical drive THREE TIMES because I was popping off the front panel. The first time it hit the optical drive very hard, the second time it actually dislodged the plate on the disc drive which I popped back in, the third time I swear it broke the plate. Be VERY careful when you're taking off the faceplate as it is very stubborn and you may use too much force and end up hurting yourself or hurting something else.

Other Thoughts: I'm gonna try replugging in these wires to my mobo but as of right now 4 out of the 8 features on the front don't work and that's unacceptable. I love the case, I love the look of the case, I feel like it fits just right but man the broken/non-functional features is incredibly irritating and I really REALLY don't want to have to take this apart and send this in for a new one.

I will update this review if my issues are resolved.

EDIT: I fixed the red LED strip but the left USB and headphone/microphone jacks are still a mess. The HDD indicator I can live without to be perfectly honest.

4 out of 5 eggsA solid case at a good price!

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: Built in anchor points on the back of the motherboard tray make cable management a breeze.
Plenty of room in the top slot for a card to overhang the motherboard - see cons if you want to run SLI.
Case feels solid, minimal flex when installing the IO plate.
No shortage of ventilation options.
Necked thumb screws on the side so you don't need to take them all the way out and potentially lose them.

Cons: SLI configurations will need attention to card length. The top slot will generally line up with the top fan and have room above the drive cage, lower slot installation may be impeded by the hdd cage.
Rubber grommets in the cable openings would be a welcome addition.
The lower edge of the side panel isn't raised, and the cable bundle coming from the PSU can be just a bit thicker than the non raised spacing between the panel and the motherboard tray.
Thumb screws on the panels and the PCI slots can be easily mixed up if you're not paying attention. The panel thumb screws are necked so they don't have to be completely removed (but accidentally pulling them all the way out is not difficult).

Other Thoughts: I ran into some trouble with the CPU power cable not quite reaching without running it behind the motherboard and then over the top edge. Since this is an issue tied more to the motherboard and PSU design than the case, it's not really a con for the case, but if your configuration has the same challenge it can interfere with any fans/rad you install at the top of the case.

Rubber grommets in the cable management openings would also be a nice addition as long as it still hits the sub $75 mark.

Overall, its a solid choice at this price point - would buy again.

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: front usb 3.0 port , psu mounts on bottom

Cons: front panel can be tricky to remove to add additional fan (no egg taken)

Other Thoughts: i recently bought the spec1 and liked it so much i decided to get a spec 3 for different build . both are almost identical but for some reason i prefer the spec1 ...... both are excellent cases for the $$$

4 out of 5 eggsGreat styling

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: Great case styling. When lit up with the red, it looks cool. Lots of peripherals can be obtained in red to match. Everything was easy to install. The bump out on the back side-panel allows for almost completely hiding all the cords. This case will accommodate a bunch of fans. The clear side panel allows some decent viewing of internals.

Cons: The clear panel scratches easily, be careful when handling. Both side panels seem to take some maneuvering to get them to slide on properly.

Other Thoughts: Nice looking case. Lots of expansion. Relatively easy to work with.
