Based on Intel's Chassis Air Design Guide, Aspire's Apevia X-Cruiser Black computer case works with any Standard ATX, Baby AT and Micro ATX motherboard, and is designed to promote cool, quiet operation. The presence of ten (four 5.25" external, two 3.5" external, and four 3.5" internal) drive bays and seven expansion slots ensure you have enough room for any arrangement of drives you might need. The built-in air duct on the side panel funnels cool air toward the processor, and two 80mm built-in Blue UV Sensitive LED fans help move dangerous hot air out of the case.
The front panel of the X-Cruiser features two USB ports, one audio and one FireWire port, for instant connectivity and convenient use. The front panel also houses three unique gauges/controllers, the Temperature Gauge, Front Volume Gauge and Volume Controller, and one Front Fan Gauge with Fan Controller (which can controls up to 5 fans). The front panel also houses two "arcs" at the sides, which along with the dials are back-illuminated by blue LEDs.
With the X-Cruiser you will be able to catch all the action live and "blue", through the large clear side panel and blue LED illumination all over. This case can hold maybe more power than you can handle -- step up to the challenge!

great form & function for the price
- Pros: This case is absolutely gorgeous. The three fans on the front give the case a very steam-punk feel, and really add a flair that LED's alone cannot do. These gauges also beat out tacky digital displays (the kind on your alarm clock) by a long shot too. The side window looks nice too with the LED fans. The case is Thermally Advantaged, so the side vent is placed right above compatible motherboards, allowing for better heat transfer to outside of the case.
The case is also very spacious, and gives you alot of room for additional fans.
For this price, it is definitely a case I would recommend to others on both aesthetic levels as well as level of expandability.
- Cons: 7 Motherboard standoffs instead of 8. Not really an issue, since you can get by with one short standoff just fine, but it seems like an issue pertaining to a specific batch more than anything else, as a small number of others have this problem. The metal used for the case and racks inside seems a little thin to the touch - it holds up very well, but gives you a sense of Apevia cutting corners during production. The expansion slots in the back are simple cutouts, another sign that corners were cut. All in all these are nitpicky things, and do not at ALL affect performance of the case. If the thickness of the case was increased, I can see this case costing $5-10 more.
- Other Thoughts: Although no manual was included with the case, there is a manual available at Apevia's website:
http://www.apevia.com/umanual/um-x-cruiser.pdf
Overall this case was a great buy, and I do not regret my decision at all.
Mmmmm... Okay
- Comments: Although I'm not a very experienced computer builder (this is my first), I do have some mechanical ability, and somewhat of an eye for quality. At first look, the case seems well put together, pretty good quality. It's got plenty of space for working inside, and the side panels fit nicely. A nice feature is the front Firewire port, which not all cases have; this will be nice for the digital videographer (like me) that wants to use Firewire to download.
Once the machine was together, I noticed that the front door will not stay completely open because of the wires for the gauges and LEDs. This isn't a problem in itself, but the door also has a step on the back that will catch the side of the CD tray, causing (worst case) breakage or motor damage, or (best case) hangups. My fix for this was to tape a piece of plastic in the door to make a little ramp where the CD tray will not catch on the step. Problem solved (it should never have been a problem, though).
The front door also presses the floppy drive eject button if I close it with a disk inserted. My fix for this was to set the floppy drive back one more step. It, too, works fine, and you have to look closely to notice that it's not even with the front.
The front headphone jack gets some interference from the fan power cables, causing a hum, relative to the chosen fan speed. I could fix this by rerouting the cables, I believe, but I probably won't use that jack, anyway.
This is a little one: I'm putting four hard drives, a DVD burner, and a floppy in my case. The case came with (I think) twelve screws. It has bays for six 3.5" drives, and four 5.25" drives, but only enough screws to mount three drives?
As far as quality goes, the metal seems a little soft, and I had to be very careful not to strip out screws. The back panel "knockouts" are a pain; I'd rather see blank covers with screws for the slots instead.
All in all, a pretty good case!
Pros: Goos space inside to work, plenty of fan areas, Firewire port up front, very nice finish, cool LED lights.
Cons: Seems like soft metal (screws strip), fan noise interference with front audio output, CD tray catches on front door, front door too close to floppy eject button, not enough screws to mount all drives, knockouts instead of blanks for unused expansion slots.

love the case
- Pros: i love the case nice clean looking the gauges do work and they look great easy build aslong as u have enough space for the plugins on the mother bored wouldnt trade the case for any other
- Cons: none yet
- Other Thoughts: best case ever my first build and it was great
Beautiful Look 4/5 Quality Great Company
- Pros: -Very nice case by looks
-Decent airflow -Enough space for my components -Sturdy -Company cares about customer -Neweggs fast shipping can't complain!! -I would recommend this case
- Cons: -Easily scratched be careful, the quality isnt really bad just dont bang it hard..
-Volume gauge might interfere with headset and speakers. depending on which its following...
- Other Thoughts: Temp gauge wire didn't work but Apevia sent a new one free!
rebates was sent fast and they answered each of my emails
Not Very Impressed
- Pros: Cheap-ish? Something to put your parts in...
- Cons: Almost no airflow, slippery feet, easily scratched, door is flimsy plastic, expansion bays were a little "off" (was very tough to get things to fit), can't feel any airflow with the fans, not the most sturdy overall, every fingerprint shows, and more!
I had to keep the side off the case or else my computer would start to overheat.
- Other Thoughts: I was not very impressed with this case. I ended up buying an Antec 902 for $120. Way worth it.
Do yourself a favor, and don't go cheap on the case. This thing works I suppose, but not very well. If you were to replace the rear 80mm fan with a 120mm, and added 2 80mm fans in the front, it may work a little better. But you might as well get a nicer case if you plan to do that.
