2 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Horrible.

Pros: Not many.
The fan speed switches are nice to have, but yet again, very flimsy plastic.
It comes with nice hardware, but don't use the "easy mounting hard drive bays."

Cons: Oh, boy. Time to make this list.
- One of the feet at the bottom of the case was broken off when I got it.
- The side door came warped, I cannot fully shut the door.
- One of the fans on the side door works when it wants to.
- Bad airflow.
- Scratches easily.
- Dust and dirt MAGNET. It's glossy plastic.
- The fans, if you'd like to get a replacement, have to be NZXT. They make them slightly smaller so you HAVE to buy their brand with their cases.
- May not be a technical issue, but it's a giant eyesore to my room. I don't have enough room to put a second monitor on my desk because this thing is so huge, and not to mention, ugly.

Other Thoughts: Overall, i'd say this was a waste of my money. This is one case where i'd say "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply. Absolute money pit. I have no idea why this case is in the top 10 gaming cases on most websites and youtube videos. I'm a technician, and when my friends look at this case for their gaming builds, I tell them to avoid this like the plague, and so should you. I'm currently looking for a new case to get rid of this pile of junk. Thanks, NZXT.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Case, Has Flaws

Pros: Space:
This thing has TONS of Space in the front, I managed to squeeze two Radeon 6850's in there no prob (this was an old build). It also comes with some of the most amazing airflow you'll get out of a case (If you get some extra fans).
Build Quality:
They built this case quite nicely, there's no shoddy work on it (that I noticed anyway). Other than the front and top removable panels (which are plastic) the rest of this bad boy is Steel. It's also quite sturdy in some aspects, it's had college text books dropped on it, it's been kicked, dropped and a slew of other things and for the most part everything works the same way it did the day I bought it.
It has lots of functionality as well, all of the HDD bays are removable (which I took out except for the two I was using to increase Air Flow from the front fan) and the 5.25 inch bays have this clever latch system that makes installing and removing things (whether it be an optical drive or a USB hub or a fan controller, etc...) as easy as 3.14.
I almost forgot the EXTREMELY useful fan controllers. Sure they aren't the most fancy, but they get the job done, make the case look better, and stopped me from buying a separate one.
The Look:
Now we can talk about the look, this thing is BIG but it has a sleek sexy look to it and when its dark out, those blue LEDs look like heaven, NZXT made one hell of a pretty case when they made the Phantom. I really can't overstate this, this case is a Sexy, Sexy beast.

Cons: Now it's time for the dreaded down side. Off the back, for all of the work NZXT put into making this case rigid and sturdy in a general sense, they kinda slacked in the micro sense. My front most USB port on the top of the case doesn't work - period.
Another thing is that there is little space behind the MOBO tray for wire management, that being said they leave tons of places for you to anchor wires down, so it kinda evens out.
Actually, that's all of the serious cons with this case, the top panel may not last too long (then again, I've had this case for nearly 3 years now).

Another con for me is cleaning, but thats just a big case problem in general when you're using air cooling. I clean the comp I used this case on about once a month and it takes about an hour getting it nice and Shinny. That's Actually It for me, I love this case!

Other Thoughts: If you want a sexy, sexy Case for a pretty darn good price that'll last you, buy this bad boy, It's worth the investment.

4 out of 5 eggsspacious but flawed

Pros: The space in this full sized tower is fantastic. The tool free assembly of the drives made it a breeze and the ability to hide the wires gives a very spacious and clean look.

Cons: The front external audio ports have completely stopped working. Everything is connected properly, but at this point it needs replaced.

Other Thoughts: Great design, amazing look. Got it 20% off.

2 out of 5 eggsFaulty case, don't buy.

Pros: Pretty silent.

Cons: Case fan LEDs started blinking within a couple months of the purchase at random times.

Can't remove top of the case because the plastic is melded together rendering it impossible to remove the top of the case from the side panels.

Fans randomly change their RPMS, as indicated by the blinking LEDs on top of the case. The LED on my back fan is currently off, yet the fan is still spinning at the lowest RPM.

GARBAGE FAN CONTROLLER, and I've read around the internet that this is a huge issue with this case.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the inconvenience you encountered with the Phantom case. With regards to removing the top panel, barring any issues with dents on the chassis itself, we can walk you through removing this panel safely and correctly. Have you tried to contact our Support team via our helpdesk at URL: We are available from 9:30-5:00pm PST M-F via Live Chat or the Submit A Ticket feature and can assist you with getting a replacement for your fan controller in the Phantom case as well. Please let us know how we can help.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfection besides USB ports being a bother

Pros: Sleek, elegant, lovely looking case with wonderful airflow. Large fans, plenty of space for expansion, loved the top USB 2.0 & 3.0 while they worked (see cons).
Can even turn off one of the largest ambient lights in the back to reduce (not completely remove) the bright blue light it emits
Overall, a very nice and elegant product

Cons: A part of the USB 3.0 port broke off on the first day (!!!!) but it still works. USB 2.0 port stopped working reliably in the first week. Still tries to, but flaky. All I used was an XBox 360 controller, with no weight put on port itself and, after a week, it was too loose to function. Neither a con enough to detract from the score.

Fan controls are a bit flaky too, one list constantly turns on / off on its own. Honestly, at 100%, the fans are dead quiet, so there really is no need for the controls.
Again, not enough to detract.

Speaking of lights, the blue light can be a bit of a bother in the dark.

Lastly, she's a bit big for a medium-sized case, mostly long but a bit taller than I'm used to as well, but has fit perfectly under each desk she's been under (about 5) so no real issue.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I love the persona it represents for my powerhouse PC. My motherboard has 8 usb ports on it, so USB issues were not a problem for me, but your needs may vary.

5 out of 5 eggsNzxt Phantom - Black

Pros: This thing looks sick, and its has a ton of room to work with. It keeps my parts very cool, so much that my motherboard temps went from 42 Deg. C in my old case to now 17 - 25 Deg. C. I enjoy all of the cable management features and the neat led lighting with fan control. The front drive-bay swing door is very sturdy, and stays shut. It came with a decent amount of screws for all kinds of mounting options. This thing is QUIET, it surprised me, but the only sound from the case is a low hum that comes from the top 200 mm fan and my stock heat-sink fan. The side panels are very easy to remove, and sturdy. Speaking of construction, this thing is rock solid, I have yet to find one cheap looking thing on it. Very pleased.

Cons: I do have one gripe but its nothing big enough to dock an egg. It attracts dust and fingerprints like none other. Being black, everything shows up, and BEWARE because the glossy finish on the plastic can scratch easily!

Other Thoughts: A protective, anti finger-print finish on the plastic would be nice. Bare in mind that the fan control led's do not have an off switch, other than when the system is powered off, and they can be quite bright in the evening. I don't mind it but others may.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case!

Pros: Plenty of room for components and cables; tons of slots for holding hard drives; plenty of fans; 5x 5.25 bays; built-in slider fan control

Cons: Stock dual fans DIRECTLY INTERFERE with cabling for hard drives; top fan slots DO NOT fit aftermarket NZXT 200mm fans; mini-rack for HDD interferes with power supply cabling

Other Thoughts: This case is great, I love the style, I love the lights, and the built-in USB ports are a great place to put my wireless mouse and bluetooth USB dongles. Motherboard fits in flawlessly and there's plenty of ventilation. Kind of upset with NZXT though, for the two aforementioned fan problems and customer service issues (requested a replacement fan control, was told one was sent out, never received it, and ignored when asked for insight).
