2 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: Shipping was fast. has lots of room and the case does look good.

Cons: case fans did not work when it arrived. sending back for a refund.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We do appreciate the feedback on the original phantom enthusiast. We are sadden to hear that none of your fans did work on arrival. Did you check to see if the molex connector was plugged via to the PSU? Also can you confirm If it’s not just the fan controller that is faulty, how you can check this is by connecting one of the fans to your mother boards sys fan headers. If it still fails to work please visit support.nzxt.com and submit a request at the top right. Also if you have any issues please contact us directly at Tel. +1-800-228-9395.

Kind regards,
NZXT Support.

4 out of 5 eggsLove it... fans are a pain to find though...

Pros: Wide open case, with plenty of options for cable routing.
All drives have hotswap brackets for easy install.
All in all id say this case is well worth it.
everything fits nicely, even my beefy MSI GTX970 and H100i RAD for my 4790k... that being said theres a few things i dont like...

Cons: FANS..
NAMELY the 240mm LED fans for the GREEN cases... they are next to IMPOSSIBLE to find for a decent price, and the case only comes with ONE. as of now, i have most if not ALL the stock fans swapped for green LED fans... as making my PC case glow like an alien lab has become my new addiction :P ( any if not ALL 120mm case fans will work with this case, i have 2 cooler master 120s on the side and they work fine )

ive also read that NZXT are basically nazis in the fan department as mostly only NZXT 240mm fans will work on the top and side panel mounts... this is really an aesthetic thing, and im sure Newegg is awaiting more as i type this review.

MY ONLY OTHER GRIPE with this case is the hotswap bays... with the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter plates i need to use for SSDs, one must "modify" the hotswap brackets, so that bottom mount screws do not push against the bottom of the hotswap bracket. also, you have to trim the back off to get angled SATA cables to mount in. Small gripe, but be aware none the less.

otherwise this case would get a full 5 eggs from me :)

Other Thoughts: i love this case, its big, its roomy, it makes doing small installations and things EASY with all the room i have.
NZXT has earned my angry cartoon stamp of approval

5 out of 5 eggsPhantom Case by NZXT

Pros: This case is very solid. Easy cable management with the side door. The fans come with filters, and don't appear to mess with air flow too bad. I know alot of people don't like filets, but it's handy with a dog losing its winter coat. The NZXT fans are great. I haven't had to many issues at all, to include the speed controls.

Cons: The case is pretty big, but I didn't see any internal dimensions for this case. Essentially, with my aire cooled heat sink, there isn't space for the side intake fan.

2 out of 5 eggsNZXT Crafted Series Phantom Black/Green Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: nice looking

Cons: No I did not buy this case reason is - only have 2.0 USB ports and they are on top of case where dust can get into them

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, NZXT Valued Customer

We do appreciate the feed back regarding the original phantom case, the case was released at a time where usb 2.0 was dominant in its time. We have no heard of any issues with dust building within the usb connectors. Though if the case did sub come to damage pertaining to the USB connectors we would be able to issue out a parts replacement. You would simply need to visit us at support.nzxt.com and submit a request at the top right. Also you can contact us directly at 1-800-228-9395.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: - Spacious
- Comes with NZXT fans, especially the 200mm
- Looks great
- Nice backpanel room to put all the clutter of cords
- A lot more HDD space than I will ever need
- Fan controller works amazingly

Cons: - The ATX motherboard holes was not correctly lined up and will need some modification to fit properly.
- Outside can be easily scratched up but thats to be expected from a metal/plastic case.

Other Thoughts: I got this with on a discounted price but it's definitely worth the current price. I can see myself using this case for quite a long time, it seems it will have a good, durable life. Realize it is quite a big case so expect to lose some desk space, unless of course you have a different arrangement for it. Highly recommended, you cant go wrong with NZXT.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case!

Pros: Great cable management, Dedicated fan controller, Liquid cooling radiator mounts, quick install bays, ample drive bays will make it easy to run a raid setup

Cons: Fan controller uses power connector not found on my motherboard or power supply, but that's my fault for not checking before hand.

Other Thoughts: Great product!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat case, horrible fans.

Pros: This case is sleek and big, it looks good and can fit everything into it that I need to fit.

Cons: Cons:
- NZXT only fans. I've had to purchase at least 6 fans for this case. The first 3 fans I purchased from NZXT were all broken upon delivery. After returning them and getting new fans sent to me I installed them in my case, well, tried.
After attempting to install a 200mm fan on the side of my case I realized that it wasn't the right -type- of fan and the holes where the screws are supposed to go don't line up with where they go in the case.
After purchasing the correct fan, with the correct holes for screws, I was able to install my side and top fans with little to no hassle.
The fan I purchased for the top of my case, the Rifle Bearing FN 200RB, has ceased to work due to bad wiring. I contacted NZXT to replace my fan and they sent me the wrong fan, they sent me the fan where the holes for the screws don't line up. Now I'm in an endless battle with them trying to prove that the fan they sent me is too big and the screws don't go where they need to, via picture messages in emails.
-The cooling unit slot, as people have mentioned before, isn't cut properly so you have to unmount your entire motherboard and attach your cooling unit to the motherboard before placing it in the case.

Other Thoughts: If you could purchase fans for this can from other companies, it would be a top of the line, amazing purchase. Though in order to function, cases need fans, when the fans you receive are confusing or not the right size it becomes a hassle. NZXT should think about moving to more universal fans to satisfy their customers.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We do apologize for the inconvenience, The original phantom case was implemented to work only with our FN series fans and for the 200 mm fan it was a unique mm that was 193mm which was the reason it did not fit. If at all you have any issues or parts do break please visit our website at support.nzxt.com which you would be able to submit a parts replacement. We would also need an invoice on file as well with the request. If you a question or concerns please let us know you can contact us directly at +1-800-228-9395.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Case, Bad Company.

Pros: - As stated many times, Great airflow even topping some of my more expensive cases.
-Decent Cable Management space
-Removable dust filter that is easily cleaned
-Decent look and the size is actual internal size not case size so your getting what they tell you.
-Side Panels open suicide door style making it easier to manage cables etc

Cons: -Very cheap plastic for the snap on front and top accents to the case.
- In fact the whole case is very cheap plastic
- Cutout for aftermarket CPU coolers is too small for all 3 of my coolers. (Had to unscrew the motherboard and put the back plate on first.)
- Even when in sleep mode has a very bright green LED on the case that flashes. (Not a big deal if it's not in your bedroom)
-For such a large case it has very terrible USB options on the front and top. (Knew before purchasing though)

Other Thoughts: On the whole I am satisfied with the case I do sometimes wish I would have gone with another but this case will last a long time as long as you take care of it. The biggest issues I have run into besides little things like the cheap plastic and LED lights that stay on are the following:
The side panels have a small indent that slides under the inside of the case to help secure it. Problem is the plastic is so cheap that it bent on mine the first time I took it off and I had to bend it back as flat as I could to get it to fit in the small groove that it rests in.
Bought 2 fans from NZXT a 200MM for the side and the 140 for the front. Both fans came with screws that were to big to even screw into the fan let alone the case, and were too short to even fit trough the fans if they were the correct size. I contacted NZXT and was told they would give me a call back. Still have not heard from them 2 weeks later.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We do apologize for the inconvenience, yes the case is made out of ABS plastic which is the front and top panels for the case. It was the only way we would have been able to achieve the curves for the case itself. The placement of the USB connectors were implemented at the top to give it a sleek and futuristic design to allow users to plug in there devices with ease. Depending on the type of coolers and the recommended specs with certain coolers you might have a problem or not. If at all you have any issues or parts do break please visit our website at support.nzxt.com which you would be able to submit a parts replacement. We would also need an invoice on file as well with the request. If you a question or concerns please let us know you can contact us directly at +1-800-228-9395.

Kind regards,
NZXT Support.

5 out of 5 eggsOne small inconvenience - but there is USB 3.0

Pros: Lost of room and plenty of places for cable management and peripherals.

One USB 3.0 port on the front/top

Cons: Open the back panel and the rear of the motherboard is exposed just behind the CPU to allow easy installation of aftermarket coolers. The problem is the cut out area is not big enough to expose the mounting holes on the left for a Z97 motherboard.

Other Thoughts: More Details about the CPU cooler problem. I have an ASRock Z97X Killer board, thinking it might have just been bad design by ASRock I checked other boards and all Z97's are in the same spot. To mount my Corsair H50 cooler I had to take the motherboard out despite the convince cutout in the case. It was only a minor inconvenience so I'm not going to take a star.

The added bonus is the USB 3.0 port up front. The details mention there are two 2.0 ports, but one of those ports is actually a 3.0 with 20 pin header. This might be a problem for some if they are looking to upgrade their case and their current system does not have a 20 pin header.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad when on sale

Pros: Massive! I can literally fit the tower from my last PC inside this case. Lots of room. The acomadation of larger fans ensures plenty of airflow for hot builds. The case I recieved had been updated to include one USB 3.0 port even though the description doesen't mention this, a pleasent surprise!

Cons: The 200 mm fans are specific to NZXT. Other manufacturor fans won't fit unluss you are willing to modify or rig them. Also, after extensive checking, it appears that NZXT is moving away from this particular patern of fan. I am concerned about ongoing availability of replacement fans. The case is quite nice and should last a very long time, but if they ever stop making these fans it could become a real headache.

Other Thoughts: I'm pretty handy with tools and have modofied everything from book shelves to cars. Drilling hole to mount a more standard fan shouldn't be a big problem if it ever becomes necessary. Just a disapointment and nusance. Really wanted to use LED lit fans. In reading other comments it sounds like lights could be added with minimul dificulty to the propriatary NZXT fans.
