5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case, a couple small flaws

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-W1 White Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: -This case is massive. It has room for everything.
-It looks great.
-Built-in LEDs are nice with front, internal, both or none and several shades of each colour in the visible spectrum. Not as advanced as NZXT's 5.25" Hue system, but still quite the nice touch.
-Has 4 fan controllers with 3 fans per controller, all neatly fitted to the top.
-Plenty of cooling power with all the fan space, and a nice option for a 360mm radiator on the top. Plenty of room for push-pull. If you use a smaller 5.25" device for the top bay, you don't lose it. I have the Hue in my top bay and it fits fine with my ODD in the second bay.
-Easily removable dust filters in the front and back are a nice touch.
-Two front USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 for lots of portable devices
-Loads of cutouts for cables and lots of room for a big PSU
-Crazy amount of space behind the motherboard for cable routing
-The pedestal gives it a good lift off the ground for increased airflow, and looks awesome
-Adjustable rear fan position is nice if you're not using a big radiator at the top.
-Overall a great case

Cons: There are some cons despite being so awesome.
-The amount of cables in the back is crazy. It's a real pain to sort through when they're all ziptied in the most inconvenient places. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could remove all the fan controller cables to clean it up a bit.
-The fan controller is 3-pin only, so you can't fit your PWM fans into it if you need to.
-With so many front USB ports, you need two USB 2.0 headers, and the card reader takes a third. I didn't have enough headers to power the reader. Good thing I don't use it.
-The hard drive trays are not firm. They're quite flimsy without a drive in them. If you throw a 2.5" drive in them, they don't lock into place and they're a real pain.
-Although the bottom two bays are easily removable, the rail they sit on is not so simple, so to utilize the second 140mm fan spot on the bottom, you have to get the tools out and remove the drive bay rail.
-The pivot slot is mounted with long screws that enter the fan's space, so if your 140mm fan has solid corners rather than being open, it won't fit. Using screws to hold your fan in place may not work either, depending on length.
-Includes an individually sleeved 8-pin CPU cable. It's shorter than the distance between the PSU and the slot on the motherboard in most cases. Pointless.

Other Thoughts: Despite all the cons, I can't really take away an egg. This case is fantastic regardless. In addition:
-It would have been nice to have one or two SSD mounts behind the motherboard like the Phantom 630 has, since the drive trays aren't good for 2.5" drives.
-The little cover for the front USB ports doesn't actually attach. It just sits there, and it's a piece of rubber. Kind of a pointless design.

Overall, I recommend this awesome case.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Case

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-W1 White Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Amazing design, awesome product.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The case is my second biggest choice to make when doing a build because it's the thing I have to look at the most and needs to be able to support my equipment.

The phantom 820 is sleek, aesthetically pleasing, extremely spacious and most importantly it is quiet. My old case was loud enough to have my free standing desk mic pick it up, the phantom is so quiet I can have it be the only thing on in a dead quiet room and still can't hear it at all.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-W1 White Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Easy to setup and take apart, more room than I would ever need, and the fans and leds work fine.

Cons: The wheel to change the hue likes to skip back to purple if not careful. For me, it's not an issue

Other Thoughts: Great case for any build to fit in, would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a full tower case

5 out of 5 eggsA great investment.

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-W1 White Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: The cosmetic features on this chassis are a sight to behold. This case will please both minimalist and enthusiast builder. The HUE lighting is a big plus, being most cases do not have the color change feature. Mounting space for plenty of aftermarket fans. (10 total, counting push/pull H110 radiator)
Can fit just about any board out there. Bottom HD cage is removable to allow for 3 intake fans. A nice add-on is the inner pivoting mount for a 120 or 140mm fan. 9 expansion slots for whatever you may want to throw at it. Comes apart fairly easy. Fan controller is 15w with 4 channels, each spliced into 3 3-pin fan connectors.

Cons: None as of yet.

1 out of 5 eggsBUYER BEWARE!!!

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-W1 White Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: cool design, cool lights, lots of room.

Cons: may not work, difficult customer service when trying to resolve issues

Other Thoughts: I am one unhappy customer. I am not sure that I have ever been so disappointed and frustrated by a company. What I went through is unbelievable and disgusting. The lights on my case did not work properly. Whenever I would try to turn them on, most of the time they would just flash and cut of. On very rare occasions I could get them to turn on, but if I pressed the i/o lights button or tried to switch between inside and outside lights, they would cut off again I contacted tech support and had to wait weeks to get a part that didn't even fix the problem. I was sent a hue control knob and buttons. This did not solve the problem. I responded back that this did not work and I had to wait weeks to get a response back using multiple tickets because some of my support tickets were ignored. Then when I finally did get through I had to wait weeks to get another set of parts. This time I was sent another hue control knob and buttons, plus a non functioning fan controller with visible signs of damage. I did not have a problem with my fan controller so I do not know why they sent me one. My problem was with the led lights that refused to work properly. Neither one of these items solved the problem of the lights not working. The part that I needed was the circuit board that the led lights plugged into. They sent me everything except what I needed. I had this case for 3 months without a resolution to the problem. That should not ever have to happen to anybody. Finally frustration took over. I wanted this case badly enough that I just bought another case rather than deal with more incompetence. The good news is that the new case I bought works, but that is still $260 down the drain. If you are like me and absolutely must have this style of case then buy at your own risk but be prepared for some serious shenanigans. If this style of case and case lights is not that important then I would absolutely advise you to steer clear of this case. I cannot ever recommend this, knowing what I went through and I would be happy to never do business with this company again. If you don’t need this, don’t buy it. Others have had problems. I guess I will scrap the original case.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is a giant

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-W1 White Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Fell in love with this thing the second I took it out of the box. Theres enough room in this thing to go 4 way sli, an aftermarket cooler, and much more and you'll still have plenty of room to spare. Bought this case to last me multiple builds and I think it'll do just that.

Cons: Only problem I had was the cables for the case came really tangled up and required a LOT of management. Also this thing is really unfriendly towards non-modular psu's (then again though, what cases are friendly towards them?)

3 out of 5 eggsLooks great, few complaints.

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-W1 White Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Mainly giving this 3 eggs for looks and its size. Plenty of room/airflow and looks really great with custom light wheel. Cable management is fairly good if you take the time to do it. I like the I/O panel light in the rear, very helpful in finding your ports.

Cons: When I received mine the dust filter in the front of the case had come off its bracket and was freely rattling around, I had to tip the case upside down and take the front off to get at it. The side panels are somewhat difficult to take off compared to other cases I've owned, if you're not careful you could scratch the case removing them. Also, not sure if this is supposed to be like this or not, but the front door on mine doesn't seem to close all the way. The side where you open it is not flush with the rest of the front, so the line/curvature of the front panel does not line up. Bothers me a little but not enough to send the whole thing back, especially since it's already together and looking good.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm happy with the case, regardless of my review and complaints, as most of the flaws are minor.
