1 out of 5 eggsa curse of noise with poor RMA support

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: It's a case.

Cons: Noisy case. RMA folks will not send replacement non-noisy parts - they will only re-send the exact same parts. You won't find out until you receive them that it isn't actually a fix. Ludicrous.

NOISIEST CASE EVER, AND NO FIX. This case is a curse.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We greatly appreciate the feedback on our 820 ultra case , but the case itself is not meant to be a silent case like the source 340 or h440. With larger fans you will have noise ambience, coil whine or grinding from the fans is a defect which can be changed out by replacements. A larger case with bigger fans will give that RPM hymn which can not be avoided. If you require any assistance or need further questions answered please feel free to contact us at +1-800-228-9395.
Kind regards,
NZXT Support.

5 out of 5 eggsWell built case with plenty of space

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: All metal case construction
Plenty of room for anything you want to fit in this case.
Can remove all panels and get at any area on this case.
HUGE
Accessory tray with individual compartments for screws is a nice touch

Cons: Its not worth knocking an egg off for but the hard drive trays look like they are easy to break. Just be careful with them and you should be fine.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you note the size of the case and plan ahead on where you will put this case.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall a nice case.

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Huge. Absolutely huge. There is enough room in this case to fit basically anything you can image.
- I have an x99 MSI board and a Nvidia GTX 970 which is still 6 inches away from reaching the HDD bays.
- There are 3x200mm fans which at least in my case, really quiet. When idling, you barely know the fans are running.
- Construction of the case is pretty solid. Everything snaps in pretty well, although in some cases where the top and front (which are plastic) snaps to the rest of the case (which is steel), light from the LED's does shine through the joints.
- The fan control and other I/O headers are easily connected. NZXT did a good job keeping installation of front I/O simple.
- Overall design and aesthetics of the case is awesome in my own opinion.

Cons: - The box itself said the case was Gunmetal, which through me off since I ordered the Matte Black finish. Upon unboxing, it did appear to be black. Nothing too serious, but just mentioned as a precaution.
- ( -1 egg ) There is a smudge on the front of the door on the case. It was on the case as it was unboxed. The way I have the machine facing hides the smudge, but still kind of bothersome if you see it.
- As mentioned in the pros, in between some of the joints the LED's shine through. Doesn't bother me but may bother some others.
- As others mentioned, the Matte Black finish isn't the best and is easily scratched. The screws holding the side panels does almost automatically scratch the finish off, though it ends up hiding it either way.
- I purchased a Corsair H110 sealed cooler for my i7. It was a very tight fit up in the top of the case. The fan spacing in the top is not exact, however, with a little help from someone else, I did get all 8 screws in.

Other Thoughts: - For the price tag of around $200+, I would expect the case to be in pristine condition, which mine was not. However, everything else I have observed about the case has been awesome. I truly have no complaints about the case other than the fact that it was received with a smudge on the front door. I would recommend it to anyone building a high-end system. I have always been fairly pleased with NZXT in the past, and this isn't any different.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Excellent case for my new 5820K build. Like others have said there is plenty of room in this case for whatever build you plan to do. The lighting effect on the case is great. The fans run super quiet, if fact I wouldn't know if it was running if not for the lighting effects.

Cons: Had three USB 2.0 connectors but unfortunately my board had only two separate pin connectors.

Other Thoughts: My Build:
Core i7 - 5820K
Cryorig H5 heat sink/fan
Samsung 840 EVO SSD - 500 GB
Asus x99 Deluxe MB
Crucial Ballistic DDR4 - 16GB
Asus GTX 760 - two in SLI
Antec HCP-850 PSU

5 out of 5 eggsWhat A Beauty

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: There is tons of space in this thing. It makes my standard ATX look like a micro ATX. I the extra cable routing is really nice as well. By far the cleanest cable routing I have ever had in a case. Plus I have more room to add more hardware. The lighting is really nice since I'm not the only person that uses it. I like red or green and she likes blue. Having so many usbs are really nice as well.

Cons: Mone that I have found yet.

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a great case! NZXT has done a great job with build quality and looks. The built in LED lights are gorgeous and I love that they can be changed to whatever color you want by just spinning a dial. This case comes with plenty of fan mounting options and does a great job at keeping everything cool.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Don't hesitate to buy this.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Case

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case is large enough to house everything you could imagine. The 820 looks amazing. The included fans and the dust trays make this case all the more worth the buy. The changeable led colors light up the interior making the rig look even better than expected. I highly recommend this case to anyone making their own rig.

Cons: The only real con there is to this is the clips for the hard drives are a little flimsy. Other than that, i have no complaints for this

Other Thoughts: Again, this is a great case and anyone into building there own rigs would benefit from all the room available and fans that comes with this case. There are no additional fans needed. I run around 45C° with my setup.

I can't wait to see what NZXT comes up with next

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Massive, will definitely fit everything and more
- Pretty sturdy
- Looks amazing
When I bought this case I knew it was going to be huge but when it got here huge was a understatement, it is MASSIVE. Definitely capable of holding a lot of hardware while keeping airflow solid or if your into liquid cooling it certainly has room for that.
The case itself is made from metal so it feels and looks sturdy which is a nice thing to have for a case.
Outside the phantom 820 looks amazing and will certainly compliment the looks of my MB and GPU when I get them put in. I wish I could comment on the Led lighting features but unfortunately I don't have all the parts to get that up and running but it is certainly a cool feature.
P.S. - Love the fact that they have removable filters for the intake fans, this will make dust maintenance a lot easier.

Cons: I found the instruction manual that came with the case very lacking in information, it not enough to remove an egg but you might need to search the interwebs to find out stuff.
The hard drive trays seem a bit flimsy to me so you might want to be careful with them.

Other Thoughts: Another thing I found was the large mass of cables inside the case when you open it up. I wouldn't consider this a con as they are nicely labeled so it easy to find out where they need to go but it isn't exactly a pro ether. They also have them all nicely zip tied down in the side panel which is a plus but it might mean you'll have to cut them to move the cables else where.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-M1 Matte Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case is amazing. Looks awesome, huge, cool lighting on the exterior and interior with the ability to change colors, TONS of included fans as well as dust filters for every possible fan slot and overall makes your build look like a monster. If your a fan of alienware, this case in its own way represents a similar style on its exterior. I highly recommend this case to anyone looking for an alternative to expensive cases such as the Cosmos 2.

Cons: None. Although, Instructions are terrible and took me some time to figure out how to get the fans and LEDs to work but all u need to do is to connect the huge 4 pin power connecter on the cable management side to the power supply to operate the fan controller, and hook up the sata connector also found on the cable management side to operate the LEDs and lighthing. Also, no dust filter for the side fan. These points are not worth deducting eggs.
