5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Magnificent presence...big, quiet, solid, elegant, understated but very nice lighting. I like the door and the
uncluttered front. Well built and easy to navigate inside. All the room I'll ever need.

Cons: Piddling

Other Thoughts: Transferred first-class components from a cheap case to this one. All the difference in the world! Fan controller defective, but NZXT support so good, I would actually add a star if I hadn't already given it a 5. Thanks!

5 out of 5 eggsFatty case.

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case has every thing i need to do the build i want to do.And then some.I took all the specs and features in to consideration before i bought the case. The same is true when i bought the NZXT Phantom PHAN-001WT.

Cons: None,If i had any i would call there tech so they could make a difference there.

Other Thoughts: This case takes a mean one on any other cases in its class. NZXT makes the perfect case for my needs weather it be small medium form or large.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Its a pretty complete and nice case. I like it very much.

Cons: The only cons I see now, are the lack of documentation, unlabeled screws, poorly engineered hard drive mounts(made of flimsy plastic and not solidly mounted, pretty hokey if trying to put SSDs in there) , no handles to move it around

Other Thoughts: Had written a terrible review for it earlier, but the support I received was great. And it all came together nicely. I would by again. Its a nice case. Though I would hope for a nicer/smoother way for the fan power in the side door to connect. Always have to be extra careful when removing it.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat case, but with a few critical flaws

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: A very nicely configured full size case with lots of room for air flow.
Nice built-in features like:
* Fully integrated and configurable lighting with front panel lighting controls
* A pre-wired fan controller with 4 separately controlled fan zones (front, top, rear, bottom)
* Very convenient and well-designed bottom dust filters that slide out for easy cleaning and lock back into place once they are again dust-free
* 2x 200mm (top and front) and 1x 140mm fan (rear) all ready to go
* Very nice cable management out-of-the-box, with everything nicely bundled and zip-tied...which, unfortunately, if you are going to use upgraded/custom fans, you have to eventually tear apart. (I didn't ding an egg for that, though, since it's purely optional.)
* Lots of USB ports on top, as well as headphone/microphone jacks
* Integrated SSD card reader on the front panel
* A large windowed side panel
* 6 seemingly-convenient side-access drive bays

Cons: The marketing text on the main page for this case should be changed, because it is false advertising. This is what it says: "Push the envelope and utilize liquid cooling systems that feature a push-pull configuration with top 280/360mm and bottom 240/280mm radiators up to 2 1/3 inches (60mm) thickness for unmatched performance."
That sound great, and it factored heavily into my decision to purchase the NZXT Phantom 820. Unfortunately, it's false.

I have already purchased 1x Alphacool NexXxos UT60 Full Copper 360mm main radiator for the top, and 1x Alphacool NexXxos UT60 Full Copper 240mm radiator for the bottom. The problem is that despite their marketing copy to the contrary, the 60mm-thick UT60 360mm radiator will NOT fit along the top in push/pull. If you want push/pull, you can mount 3x 120mm pull fans under the case top, and mount the radiator to the inside top portion of the frame using the very convenient screw holes (which are perfectly positioned for a 120mm, 240mm, or 360mm length rad, btw). But by the time you want to mount fans to the bottom of the radiator for the push portion of push/pull, the top of the hard drive cage at the front of the case prevents the front-most bottom "push" fans from being mounted. So maybe you skip one "push" fan and just go with 2x push and 3x pull? Well, if you use the convenient mounting holes and opt to have your radiator aligned so the nozzles are at the FRONT of the case, the top of the (permanent, non-removable, non-adjustable) drive bay again ruins your day by blocking your nozzle exits. "What if you orient the rad the other way with the nozzles at the rear?" you might ask. Excellent idea...but you STILL have to lose a fan because of the intrusion of the top of the drive bay, AND you then are ALSO forced to completely forgo the rear fan, which otherwise (again) blocks access to the nozzles when mounting a full 60mm thick radiator in push/pull AS ADVERTISED RIGHT ON THIS VERY PRODUCT PAGE. I mean, I bought this case because it says right there that it supports a 360mm long x 60mm thick push/pull top radiator. But I have one of those rads, a bunch of awesome and completely standard-sized 120mm Gentle Typhoon fans, and they WON'T FIT. I suppose I could take my dremel to the top of the hard drive bay and cut out a chunk of the bay's steel top to make the UT60x360 fit, but I shouldn't have to do that...especially when the case was purchased *because* the product description claimed it would fit exactly that configuration. -1 egg for very specific FALSE advertising.

And if that weren't enough, my XSPC dual 5.25" bay pump/reservoir combo won't fit into this case's front drive bays. The bay is about 2mm too narrow. And I checked with my older Antec 1200 case, and the XSPC reservoir fit PERFECTLY. I mean, they DO have standards for this stuff...but apparently the NZXT Phantom doesn't necessarily hold to all of them, since its 5.25" bays don't fit full bay-width sized items. -1 more e

Other Thoughts: TLDR version: NZXT's marketing statement "Push the envelope and utilize liquid cooling systems that feature a push-pull configuration with top 280/360mm and bottom 240/280mm radiators up to 2 1/3 inches (60mm) thickness for unmatched performance" is blatantly false as a class-leading 60mm thick UT60 360mm rad will NOT fit at the top in push/pull without cutting steel as part of a case mod.

On the plus side, my 240mm UT60 radiator looks like it will fit fine at the bottom...but if I decide to keep this case I either have to drop to a 30mm (or *maybe* 45mm) thick radiator for the TOP, go with just pull instead of push/pull on the top 360, or switch to a 240mm rad on top if I want to use a full-thickness UT60 rad.

Therefore, I can recommend this case to the following PC enthusiasts:
* Those who will take advantage of its excellent out-of-the-box air cooling performance
* Those who will use water-cooling but do NOT plan to use a 60mm thick x 360mm long radiator like the Alphacool NexXxos UT60 Full Copper 360
* Those who will use a 60mmx360mm radiator and already planned on having to cut steel/make major mods to their case
* Those who place a premium on nifty lighting with no additional assembly required

I CANNOT recommend this case to the following PC enthusiasts:
* Those who plan to use a 60mm thick x 360mm long radiator like the Alphacool NexXxos UT60 Full Copper 360 in push/pull and do NOT want to be forced to cut steel and make other major case mods
* Those who plan to use an XSPC Dual 5.25" Bay Clear Reservoir

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: The size, it is a very big case.
The dust filters on the bottom is a nice touch, though I wish they had one at the top as well.
The USB ports on the top.
The fact I can change the LEDs is a nice feature. Also the ability to turn the LEDs on and off is fantastic.
The fact it already comes with a good number of fans.

Cons: Directions could be clearer that fans are already hooked up to the controller and the fan connectors left are for extra fans.
The USB ports on top are a lot flimsier than I would like.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded to a full size tower because on my last case, a mid tower, the video card was so large it barely fit. I got the R9 290x for this case and it fits with tons of extra room to spare.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic Enthusiast Case

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Size - Plenty of room to accommodate about any cooling setup.
My EVGA X-79 Dark EATX mb fit in it perfectly, proper standoffs were already in place.
My new Corsair H100i radiator and fans fit in the top perfectly, I put the two fans on top of chassis, with screws through the fans, then the chassis, and into the radiator. Had it installed in 10 minutes.
Hardware - Screws came in a nice box separated out by size for organization. Nice change from the bag with all screws mixed in.
Fan controller - fan cable headers - gives you plenty of connectors to hook case fans up to. Control fan speeds and led light colors, also on or off on lights, with the controller. Also there is a light on the back of the chassis for the IO panel, makes seeing it easy in a darkened room. Very nice feature.
200MM case fans, with filters for intake fans. Filter on bottom of case as well, easy to pull out for cleaning and put back in.

Cons: My only real con was lack of " clear" explanation in the tiny print manual that was mostly pictures and little words to explain. I was overwhelmed with all the cables and connectors coming through the chassis as to what they were all for - they were tied together neatly, but it was just overwhelming to me. Finally after getting system set up , I realized all I had to do was plug a molex power connector from my power supply to the molex connector coming through the chassis, and voila had power for all my fans and fan controller. ( of course plugged the fans into those fan connectors coming through the chassis as well)...

Once I got playing around with the controller, realized pushing the led light button in toggles the lights on and off along with what zones are lit, along with the button on the case for controlling case fan speeds, it all came together for me. The manual could be much clearer on explaining all of that up front. This is really the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a joke

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: none that I know of yet

Cons: Says support for 240mm radiator, but had to mod case to get H110 to fit correctly. The screw kit is not labeled at all, good luck figuring out which screws are which. The crude drawings of screws in the pathetic manual(completely worthless manual btw) don't really match up. Not to mention that the screw kit that came with my case had only 2 standoffs and missing other screws as well. Nzxt did send me a replacement kit about a week or so later, which had the same exact issue with no stand offs. Waiting for support to get back to me to start round 3. I've lost all faith at this point. Hopefully the lights and fan controller work, Im not hopeful. My PC is going to be obsolete by the time I can get it built at this point.

Other Thoughts: Should have stuck with Cooler Master

5 out of 5 eggsOne Word (GIANT)

This review is from: NZXT Phantom 820 Series CA-PH820-G1 Gunmetal Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case is absolutely massive, I was excepting this case to be big but nothing like this However that is what i was wanting a massive case. There is plenty of space droped my Maximus IV Extreme with 2 asus GTX660's, Rosewill 1000W Power Supply, NZXT Kraken X60, and still more than enough space. This case dwarfed my girl friends Antec Twelve Hundred. The side panels come on and off real easy if you remove the middle screw instead of leaving it. The HUE lighting is also a nice touch. Also wire management is easy enough.

Cons: The factory wires were a bit of a rats nest (IMO) that is easily redone however.
