2 out of 5 eggsLooks Great but a bit dissapointing overall.

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: Very good looking case
Good storage options
Decent cable management
Quiet

Cons: Build Quality is lacking
Poor front USB Port placement
Case is narrow - Will limit cooling options
Better options in the price range

Other Thoughts: A very attractive, but average case really. Would be OK for a budget build but you have the Fractal Define R5 sitting there for about 20 bucks more. I'd spend the extra 20 bucks if I had the decision to make again. The side panels on the H230 are thin. Drive trays are cheap plastic. Was able to get a CM Hyper 212 EVO in there, but barely. It does contact the side panel. Front USB port placement is my biggest beef. They are right next to the reset button which has no recess and is hard to see on top of the case. Don't know how many times I've hard reset my PC while trying to pull out a flash drive.

4 out of 5 eggsWhite NZXT H230 - Star Trooper finish Beautiful... read cons

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: Great case but on everycorner you can find something that was simply not though out well. Good cable management (read cons), easy 5.25 drive install very sturdy with a single screw (but read the cons), easy 3.5 & 2.5 hard drive install (read cons), beautiful star trooper finish (no cons here). Plenty of space and option to remove center HDD cage for large graphics card or just to allow for me room. "Silent Case" it is not.... read cons. Mother board mounts included with a screwdriver attachment to tighten them to the board properly. Plenty of screws for everything including a few zip ties.

Cons: 1. Cable management - my biggest gripe is the CPU 8-pin power cable, there are hardly any Power supplies with a cable long enough to reach when managing cables behind the board so an extension is needed, i knew this and had an extention ready before installing. The bigger problem is that the holes at the top backside of the board are not wide enough and it takes a serious amount of power to force an 8-pin connector through... keep this in mind.
2. 5.25 drive installation - There is a swing arm that is supposed to "assist" in holding the drive in place..... the swing arm keep popping out with every small movement and while at first it looks nice you quickly realize it does it's job not the way it was intended.
3. 3.5 & 2.5 drives easy install but the trays do not lock into place very well.... very loose.... you will not be able to tilt case on it's side to work on it as the trays simply slide out of place.
4. "Silent Case" - it is not..... any OEM Micro case is more solid and much more silent than this case, the biggest mistake made here is that there's a mesh opening at the bottom of the case to allow for air. OK, silent cases don't need an open air concept because the are meant for silence. I can only define the case being audible with the built in NZXT 1100RPM fans as a silent turbine.... it's quite enough so you will not hear it if the AC is on in the house but audible enough when the TV in the room is on and cpu fan is at 2500RPM up... it's a matter of taste but it will definitely irritate those of you who wanted a "Silent Case" are better of buying any OEM (HP, or Dell) case with minimal fans for silence.

Other Thoughts: Overall i gave the case 4 stars because after you are done getting to know it and finish your install you don't really want anything from it. You simply want to enjoy your build..... I am enjoying my build because the case is simply beautiful and it was perfect timing with star wars coming out with this case looking like a star trooper..... something for NEXT marketing to think about. I deduct a star for all the cons i found when i was building which were for me something i could not overlook.

3 out of 5 eggsgorgeous case

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: decent design for an econ silent case

Cons: You have to self tap all the screw holes, missing motherboard screws

Other Thoughts: Curse the child who only counted to six when placing the mobo screws in the bag (packaging says 9 included)

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsCool looking case with slight design flaw

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: This is a cool looking mid tower with useful accessibility to USB 3.0 on the front.

1. White steel case is nice and clean
2. USB 3.0 port on the front is very useful
3. I think the sponge inside the case works as a noise absorbent. A nice touch

Cons: The biggest downside of this case would be the front "door" design. Because one of the case fans is located on the front right behind the door, it makes noticeably louder noise when the front door is closed under heavy usage. There are vents on the side of the door, but they are not big enough to suck in more air. One egg down for this.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I like the design, it is not too heavy, clean looking, matching my desk.

2 out of 5 eggsOther NZXT Models are better built

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: Nice looking case
the hard drive easy- access design
decent price for a silent case

Cons: The FRONT FAN can't be mounted from either front of back of the fan, not even with the NZXT 120mm fan and the specially made long screws for it that came with the case, simply killed this case.

bottom fan filter, should have used magnetized design.

Other Thoughts: I have the S340, H440 and S210 for my work offices and home.
Get the S340 as a well rounded case or H440 if you want a true silent case.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We appreciate the feedback on our case but the case itself comes with a 120 mm fan which is already preinstalled. It can only fit a 120 mm fan on the front and the back of the case, which should mount perfectly to the case. If you are having issues trying to fit a fan on your case please visit support.nzxt.com and submit a request at the top right. Which we would be able to assist you with any issues with the case. Also you can contact us directly at +1-800-228-9395.

Kind regards,
NZXT Support.

5 out of 5 eggsLives up to it's name

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: This thing definitely knows how to keep quiet. I have quite conservative cooling for my build and stream regularly. The air intake is nice enough for most of parts to not sweat to much. When I am pushing the envelope, I can hear quite a bite of noise, but not the kind of noise you would get from a mesh cooled case. In worst cast scenarios, it is definitely quiet which is especially important to me living in a apartment. Speaking of apartment, I have my tower sitting on my desk. I receive ZERO vibration from the case. In terms of actual spacing within the case and cable management. It does the job well, with many holes for cable management you cant complain. The management setup is very clean and easy to setup. As for the installation of parts along side the manual, it is very clear cut and does not leave room for much question as everything is thoroughly detailed in the manual. I am very happy with my purchase and have recommended a NZXT case to everyone I know. My tiny tiny gripe is that it came slightly damaged in the power supply area, the back opening for the area was slightly dented inward from some kind of impact and there was a scratch on the side. Not bad enough for me to complain, likely an error with the delivery service. All in all, solid product. It's gorgeous couldn't be happier.

Cons: Slight dent by power supply area, minor scratch on left side upon arrival.

2 out of 5 eggsNot suited for high performance builds

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: + Beautiful appearance
+ Great build quality (except for the hard disc trays)
+ Spacious interior
+ Excellent documentation
+Comes with everything you need to build your system.

Cons: - Tool-free hard disc trays are extremely flimsy, which was surprising considering how good the quality of materials is everywhere else--I guess they had to cut corners somewhere.
- Door can get in the way of your optical disk drive if you're not paying attention.
- VERY poor airflow and cooling! At one point my PC's temperature testing software logged temps above 60 degrees Celsius (very hot.)
- ONLY ONE EXHAUST FAN, NO ROOM FOR ANOTHER ONE. This is fine if you've got a light system, but this isn't good news for gaming PC builds, unless if you're the kind of person that likes cutting holes in your case.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to like this case, because there's so much to love as far as appearance and build quality. It was enough to overlook the minor inconveniences of the disc trays and the case door. However, due to the major cooling issues, I can't recommend this case unless if you are building a less performance-heavy PC without a dedicated video card.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Valued NZXT Customer,

We do apologize for the inconvenience, at this time we are glad to hear that the case is working out for you. Yes it does only have one rear exhaust fan which would concentrate all heat to be dispersed the back side through one fan. This case is meant to be an entry level case silent and sufficient for the average user. If you come across at all having issues with parts or side panels please let us know. By simply going to our website at www.nzxt.com/support and filling out a ticket we will be able to help you with any future part replacements. If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to contact our NZXT Customer Service.

Regards,

NZXT Support

4 out of 5 eggsSleek Elegant Ez machine

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: All the tools are there to put it together. Silent once you switch the standard fans and you can add more for more noise... :-) The tool less drives are amazing and the slots for cabling is well designed allowing for you to even have clutter free cabling. The power supply is at the bottom with vents facing down.. a must.

Cons: They only thing I nitpick is the fron door. It closes and I imagine you have to leave the door open for air flow. I would've appreciated some additional 4 screws for the second fan I added.

Other Thoughts: I got it for $49. That was a steal.

4 out of 5 eggsHere is some more info about this case:

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: This case was purchased to liven and quiet a watercooled PhenomII x4 overclocked to 3.9GHz. I am comparing this case to the generic Antec mini tower that the system was installed in prior.

The front fan pulls air and the rear expels. The front door when closed, nearly silences the front fan. The door can be opened for additional cooling.

The side foam and overall design quiets high frequency noise. The case noticeably reduced hard drive noise.

The front plastic is painted and clear coated to match the rest of the case. I was concerned the front plastic would not match, but this is an attractive case. The angled black has grown on me and makes the case visually interesting.

The plastic drive trays (6) allow tooless installation of hard drives. They are a bit flimsy, but they serve their purpose.

The power and reset buttons are lit with a medium intensity white LED. The reset button doubles as the HDD indicator.

Cons: The rear bottom of the case under the power supply was dented/buckled as if pressed too tight during manufacturing. There were no problems with assembly, I can live with this, but a system builder probably would not find this acceptable. This is why the case gets four stars. Otherwise, for a sixty dollar case it is a good value.

Other Thoughts: This is a fairly large/deep mid tower. I have not built a system with a mid sized tower case in over ten years. Instead of trying to hide your computer by making it small and "look cool", this case gives enough size for building/cooling without compromise and gives good aesthetics to it's large size. You will be proud to own a computer built with this case.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent case for budget builds, but wobbly feet

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: Visually appealing
Comes with two 120 mm (quiet) fans
Re-moveable HDD cage

Cons: Case feet are not even
Below average airflow
Flimsy tool-less HDD mounts

Other Thoughts: One thing to note is that the airflow in this case is not spectacular. The front panel blocks a lot of the air for the front intake fan. You will get a noticeable drop in temperature if you leave the front panel open vs leaving it closed. Furthermore, there is no vent at the top of the case. If you have high end components that run hot, you might want to look elsewhere. Lastly, the rubber feet on this case is uneven, so my case sits wobbly.
