Introducing the Phantom 630 Windowed Edition

You have been asking for this for a while and we've delivered...

NZXT presents the Phantom 630 Windowed Edition - the same revolutionary, award-winning chassis that took bold innovation to the next level with a large side panel window.

In 2010, the original Phantom shook the industry with its daring, timeless design. The following year, NZXT brought the well-received Phantom design to a Mid-sized tower with the Phantom 410. In 2012, the Phantom 820, again, raised the bar for an entire industry, with its integrated HUE lighting system and limitless cooling potential. NZXT released the Phantom 630 in 2013 to rave reviews with only one complaint, the window.
Phantom 630 Windowed Edition Now, NZXT brings the same innovation of the completely redesigned interior of the Phantom 630 to the exterior with the new Windowed Edition.

Engineered to satisfy any enthusiast's desires, the Phantom 630 features fully modular internal drive bays that can be reorganized to your heart's content. With all hard drive bays in place, the Phantom 630 is still able to achieve high performance liquid cooling with 360mm radiator and 240mm radiator support.

By rearranging your drive bay setup to fit with your specific needs, the Phantom 630 is able to support a countless number of creative, custom cooling configurations out of the box.
Phantom 630 Windowed Edition If you choose to remove all drive bays to accommodate extra radiators or a large reservoir, the Phantom 630 comes with two SSD mounts located behind the motherboard tray for a minimalistic setup with maximum cooling and cable management capability.

Along with an integrated 30-Watt single channel fan controller, the Phantom 630 also features a dual-level motherboard tray, offering unrivaled cable management and airflow capabilities. Further minimizing cable clutter, the Phantom 630 is equipped with a rear-mounted multi-port fan hub for a simple and clean fan controller setup.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Great case good construction and looks fantastic, huge amounts of space for future upgrading as in adding a closed loop cooling system. I love it.

Cons: One of the drive bays was a little warped which made the screws at rear difficult to remove but that was bent back into shape so no real problems. however,..The case molex connector had one pin that was loose and then loosened itself right out when connected to the power supply molex I found this out when I powered up and the case fans didnt work causing Windows to immediately shut down,..I fixed that minor problem with the molex pin and now all works very well. Purchasers with limited experience at fixing stuff as previously stated may have problems,..so please Nzxt quality people please inspect those cases before they go out. In any rate I thought all that did not deserve more than 1 egg loss.

Other Thoughts: As always I am extremely pleased with my purchase and with the speedy delivery time,..Ordered Friday received Wednesday so thank you Newegg for once again giving me good service.

4 out of 5 eggsNZXT Phantom 630 Windowed Edition

Pros: -Roomy enough for everything you could possibly need, and even lots of room for the extras that you don't.

-Really sleek and cool looking (especially with blue LED fans put in.)

-Built in fan control is very handy, as is the rear I/O panel LED and SD card reader.

-Lots of space for wiring behind the motherboard tray and plenty of tie down points. Near effortless to get a clean wiring job done in this case!

-Filters on every intake! If you have pets, or there's a lot of dust in your house, this will make keeping your case clean and cool much easier. They just slide in and out very easily.

-Filters for both top 200mm exhaust fan spots! Most manufacturers don't filter exhaust fans. I think this is a nice little bonus. Since the case is so big, I assume many will keep it on their desk instead of underneath it. Having dust filters on the top of the case will definitely help keep things from floating down into the case when the power is off and the fans aren't blowing.

-Excellent build quality. Everything feels sturdy and durable. (Apart from the window, which I'll cover in the cons section.)

-The black exterior metal mesh screens are easy to remove. Case modders will enjoy being able to simply remove and paint them any color they wish.

Cons: -The window tends to rattle. It's not kept in the side panel very tight at all. If you keep this baby on your desk like I do (its too big to fit underneath!) and you bump your desk or cause vibration when you type, you can hear the window rattling. It's quite annoying. This kind of surprises me because NZXT is very good at making sure everything else keeps quiet by putting in rubber washers at almost every screw point. It would have been really nice to see the window considered as well. Apart from this, the case is nearly silent (unless you have your fans ramped up, of course.) A small rubber gasket around the tab holes in the window would have been cheap and would have gone that one tiny last step to keeping this case quiet.

-The front and top panels are quite hard to remove. When you do finally get them to come off, it makes a loud noise. The first time I did this, the panel came off with such force that I thought I had broken one of the pressure pegs holding it to the chassis.

-The front fan filter that snaps to the inside of the front panel is tricky to put back on. It kind of snaps on then slides down a little. Nothing is mentioned in the manual so it took me a bit to figure out how to secure it properly. I kept trying to put the front panel back on and the filter kept falling off.

-The sliding brackets that hold your HDDs/SSDs in the front are a little cheap feeling at first, but seem flexible enough to not break if you are paying attention to what you're doing and not being rough with them.

-The top 5.25" external bay is about a half inch shorter (front to back) than the other 3. I could not fit my ODD in there because the case does not allow me to slide it all the way back.

Other Thoughts: Even with its cons, this is a truly awesome case. I usually build a new computer for myself every 3-4 years, and in the future I plan on reusing this case instead of buying a new one.

The only feature that is missing that I would have liked is perhaps gasketed ports for water cooling tubes like the ones on the Phantom 530 case. I don't have a water cooling setup at the moment, but when finances allow me to, it is something I would like to try. The rear vents to the side of the expansion slots seem like they would be easily modded for this purpose, though. A Dremel, some split black rubber tubing and 5 minutes could make this a very simple job.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic Case

Pros: Everything went in from my old computer perfectly, loaded it all in neatly and it worked as soon as I connected the power. It's a beautiful case and it gives me the room I need to expand in the future.

Cons: The only thing I've encountered so far is that my SDHC card does not fit into the SD card reader (it says it supports SDHC and SDXC). I wasn't about to jam my SD card with Christmas photos on it into a slot it did not seem to fit. Not a huge deal but it is a bit disappointing. The card I'm trying to insert is a standard Sandisk 4GB SDHC card.

Other Thoughts: If there is an issue with my card reader that can be fixed then great. It's not a deal breaker for me but I am pretty pleased overall with the product.
