3 out of 5 eggsNZXT H440

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: They seemed to improve from the switch 810 which I also own...They added the option of hiding the power supply from view...Better feet for standing on ground or desktop...improved dust filters...

Cons: Where to begin...its pretty ugly compared to the Switch 810 IMO...also cheap filters and not much of a difference wire management is still horrible and the holes with rubber on the inside are horrible for routing wires in and out...such a pain instead of a tiny hole...they made huge ones very disappointing. This company is facing a lot of competition from Silverstone/Caselabs/Corsair that have engineers and customers involved in R&D .

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We appreciate the feed-back for the h440 , what we can say in response is this case was made for the average user. Allowing them to build a simplistic but friendly system giving them the ability to cable manage their system without any hassle. If you have any issues with any parts for the h440 we would be able to assist you with a parts replacement. All we would need you to do is visit our website at support.nzxt.com and submit a request. We would also need an invoice on file for the proof of purchase. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact us directly at +1-800-228-9395.

Kind regards,
NZXT Support.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff.

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: - It is a looker. Clean and Beautiful.
- Very good build quality. Steel construction.
- Good radiator support.
- Quiet
- Nice amount of fans.
- Leds look nice.

Cons: - Window side panel scratches easily.
- No 5.25" drive bay. Not even a hidden one.
- Airflow is sacrificed somewhat by very small intakes. It needs the included fans.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this case if looks and quietness are your priorities. If airflow and temperatures are the priority I'd suggest the Define R5.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: In no particular order

-Comes with 4 fans
-Has great options for cable management (grommets, holes, hooks for zip ties)
-Looks clean
-Nice window
-Lighting for IO ports and NZXT Logo
-Good clearance, watercooling support
-Lots of spots for hard drives and fans
-Nice front panel ports (2 usb 3.0, 2 usb 2.0, headphone and mic separate)
-Good location of vents for airflow (side of front panel and side of top panel)
-Reusable PCI slot covers
-PSU cover case
-Lots of thumb screws
-Mostly steel (VERY IMPORTANT! Very durable and doesn't bend easily)
-Free fan hub, upgradable to GRID+
-Great airflow!
-Spacious
-Features to keep it quiet; e.g. foam on inside of front panel and side panel, rubber spacers for 3.5" hard drive mounts, etc.
-Other things I've forgotten

Cons: -Front panel was EXTREMELY difficult to take off. Required all of my strength and was very afraid of bending or breaking the steel/plastic. This turned out to be not the clips, but rather the holes for the non-clip party-thingies that hold the front panel on being too large. I think this was caused by too much paint being used and the holes for those cylindrical pieces got smaller. I think this was a factory defect, something like 1/10000 chance, but a little sanding and it comes off fine now. Don't worry about it.
-Space behind the motherboard is cramped. Not a dealbreaker, but it is annoying. Not only is the clearance low but the foam they put on the side panel to reduce vibrations makes that space even smaller. If you know how to cable manage well, this isn't too much of a problem but for beginners I can see this causing problems.
-The clips for the button to turn on the IO and NZXT logo light are sticking out of the case, which is kinda bad design as the can be pushed in accidentally. More of nitpicking than a real con, but eh.
-A bit tall, but that's probably because it supports such large water coolers.
-Power button always has white LED on, and it simply flashes brighter on the top half when HDD is in use. I don't really care, I like it how it is. Just noting here for anyone curious. It works fine and you can tell the difference.
-No 5.25" slots??? Who even uses those anymore. Welcome to the age of digital downloads and the cloud. If anything you can just connect an external drive (they're dirt cheap) for when you use it that one time. I haven't used a disk in my computer for probably 2-3 years.

Other Thoughts: -Some people were whining about the case being noisy. I don't really notice it. If you're expecting a dead silent case that is air cooled by 4 fans, then you're expecting too much. Regardless, it's quiet enough, and if you REALLY want it dead silent you can buy NZXT's GRID+ fan controller and replace the free one with the case (just undo 2 screws, then screw on new one) and manually adjust their RPMs. As it is now, I THINK all of the fans connected to the default hub run at 2000rpm, which is impressive considering how silent they are for 4 fans.
-Reset button is hard to push and is very small. I guess that's the point, but it could be an inconvenience. Thus it is neither a pro nor con and simply and other thought.

Overall, this is a great case. I love it and it fits my needs very well, as well as future needs. It's a bit pricey, but if you know how to cable manage and have money to buy a fancy case with, this is very well worth your money, especially as it is designed to be sleek - inside and out - and is made almost entirely of steel and includes many other attractive features (see pros)

That being said, on a side note, this is a really pretty case and I could see it being used as a Hackintosh case for its sleek design.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Case

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: Loved the look of the case, so I preordered it last year for my new build. It has been almost a full year and everything is running smoothly. Love that it has 3 fans on the front and one on the back. Plenty of room to mount a liquid cooler on the top of the case as well. The paint has held up and doesn't show dust. Love the white accent lights.

Cons: Cable management can be a bit tricky due to the noise insulation built in on the right side panel.

Other Thoughts: I would purchase this again, but probably in a different color. I wish the Black/Blue one existed at launch.

4 out of 5 eggsSo close, yet 1/2" away

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: Outstanding layout. It's relatively quiet. Includes lots of fans. Super easy to make a clean looking setup.

Cons: Why they made so little room behind the motherboard I'll never understand. It takes what could have easily been the best case I've ever had and makes it SUCH A PAIN IN THE............ Seriously, just the front panel stuff makes it hard to close the side panel. 1/2" extra would have been all it took. I;d easily had paid more for a little more room. Here's hoping the H450 fixes it.

Other Thoughts: Still a great case, but with cabling being so difficult I'd make sure you get a modular PSU and might look at another case if you plan on making lots of hardware swaps.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing looking case! Beginners beware!

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: So let me start off by saying I purchased this from another company. Well, that being said, I don't know what Newegg packaging is like but I got mine from somewhere else and the box came extremely damaged. luckily it didn't have dents or anything. Anyways, BEAUTIFUL case! Absolutely gorgeous. But a nightmare to work with. (Read cons) Just absolutely beautiful. The installed fans are EXTREMELY quiet... Almost too quiet to the point where I don't know if they are even on! The airflow isn't great but not much is expected from silent fans.

Cons: NIGHTMARE! Oh boy where do I start. well first off, the pins are installed correctly but do not lineup with the motherboard. Had to bend the motherboard slightly to insert the pins.

The PSU cover is also a bi**h! to work with. This case is not friendly with fully modular power supplies. I had to remove the power supply 3 times to get all the cables correctly inserted because the back panel has about 1/4 of an inch of clearance and it was giving me headaches. If you plan on going with an air cooler for your CPU, reconsider because the airflow inside the case is pretty bad but can be fixed by adding 2 fans on the top for intake and another in exhaust.

Very limited space to work with as well especially when I comes to cable management because there is not much clearance for cables in the back.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: Great looks, Great layout, fairly easy to build in. There is amazing support for watercooling, and I love the SSD mounts that you can see through the window as well. Also, the hard drive mounting cages are very well thought out as well, leaving a lot of room for airflow and easy to completely take out the ones you are not using. Some people complain about cable management, but I installed a H100i watercooler, 4 hard drives, 6 case fans and two gpu's and ended up using most of my modular power supply cables. I didn't have to struggle with much cable management besides ziptying the front i/o wares down the side at the front. The rest of the cable you can easily stuff into the power supply cover and get the case to close. It was a fairly tight squeeze but not enough for NZXT to widen the case to make it easier or getting rid of the sound dampening foam.

Cons: This case was not as silent as I had hoped for out of the box. I used the included fan hub at first, at it was no quieter than my NZXT Phantom 410. I did swap out most of the stock case fans with fans from my old build and still got descent cooling with greatly reduced noise. If the fan hub had a controller on it, maybe a 3 position switch right by the switch that controls LED on the back this really would be the ultimate case out of the box. With that one little modification I would easy give this 5/5

Other Thoughts: Friend has a define R5, very similar case, but I feel this one looks better and is better at reducing noise especially if you are mounting a cooler up top.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, White/Black

Pros: I really like the minimalistic design of the case, can actually consider it a nice accent to a room instead of an ungodly looking mess of lights and color. Pretty quite, not silent, but quite. I really like the hard drive bay design, nice and convertible. Although I'm not using any of them as my three drives can fit on the floor mounts out of the way. Cable management is nice, but a little tight in the back. Still had enough room to fit all my cables even with a non-modular psu.

Cons: Fans that are included do not pull enough air that I feel they should. Replacing them with cool masters I had, same noise level but 3x the air flow. Also the led NZXT logo on the PSU compartment doesn't work. I know this is a known issue so I'll wait until the holiday is over to call.

Other Thoughts: End note, the case needs better fans to keep temps down, and they need to fix the LED issue. Other than that it is a great case and I highly recommend you get this case.
